Melia Palma Marina

Melia Palma Marina sits right on Palma's waterfront with big views across the Bay of Palma, the Cathedral and the Paseo Marítimo promenade. It's a handy Palma base if your group wants golf by day but a bit of city buzz once the clubs are back in the bag, and the location works brilliantly for golfers who want to explore the island without spending half the day in a transfer van.

From a practical point of view, the airport transfer is short (around 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic), and you've got plenty of top tracks within sensible reach. Son Gual is the headline for many golfers, but you can also build a cracking week around the Santa Ponsa courses and T Golf Palma, then mix in something a little different if you fancy exploring further afield. Alcanada is another favourite if you want a proper links-style test with sea views, and the beauty of a Palma base is that you're never more than 30 or 40 minutes from a quality course.

The balance here feels like a proper hotel rather than a huge all-inclusive resort, but you still get the facilities you want on a golf trip. If some in your party want a pool and spa while others are squeezing in 18 holes, nobody feels short-changed. And if you're the organiser of a society or corporate group, the central location makes evenings easy, with bars, restaurants and the marina vibe close by. You can sort dinner plans without needing a taxi, and there's enough going on that people won't get bored if the weather turns.

Who is this for?
Golfers who want a central Palma base with quick airport access, strong facilities and easy logistics for a multi-course Mallorca break.

Who is it best for?
Groups, couples or solo golfers who want a comfortable, well-located hotel with pools, spa time and good evening options nearby.

Accommodation at Melia Palma Marina

There are 342 rooms plus 8 junior suites, and they all face outward with private terraces, ideal for a post-round drink in the warm evening air. Rooms are set up for golfers who want comfort without fuss, with either a king-size bed or twin singles made up with good-quality linen. Everything is clean, modern and practical rather than overly formal, which suits the vibe of a golf trip where you're out most of the day and just want somewhere comfortable to come back to.

Sleep matters on a golf holiday, especially if you've got early tee times, and the pillow menu is a nice touch if you're fussy (I am). You'll also find a TV, air conditioning with individual temperature control, in-room WiFi and a sofa and coffee table for putting your feet up after a long day. Bathrooms come with Meliá toiletries and everything is presented in a way that feels polished but not stuffy. If you're travelling with clubs, there's space to store your bag without it taking over the room, and the terrace genuinely adds something, particularly if you're there in spring or autumn when the evenings are still warm.

If you want to upgrade the experience, The Level is the hotel's executive lounge option, giving you a more private check-in, concierge support and dedicated food and drink areas. It's handy if you want a quieter space to sort tee times, transfers and dinner plans, or if you simply prefer a little separation from the main hotel flow. I'd say it's worth considering if you're organising a group trip and want somewhere to gather without the noise of the main lobby, or if you're on a longer stay and value having snacks and drinks available throughout the day.

On-site facilities are strong for a Palma base: two restaurants and bars, a spa and both indoor and outdoor pools, so you're covered whatever the weather is doing. The outdoor pool is the one you'll use most if you're there in summer, but the indoor option is useful if you're visiting in winter or early spring when the evenings can still be cool. The spa is ideal for easing any post-round stiffness, and having two restaurants means you've got choice without needing to leave the hotel every night, though with Palma on the doorstep you'll probably want to explore the city at least once or twice during your stay.

In short, it's a reliable, well-run choice for golfers who want Palma on the doorstep and plenty to do when you're not out on the course. The combination of location, facilities and room quality makes it a sensible pick for groups who want flexibility, and the fact that you can walk to restaurants and bars in the evening is a real bonus if you're trying to keep everyone happy.

Back of the hotel room, quite scruffy outside. Still, there for golf so didn't stay in room too long each day.

The hotel was generally ok. the room location was really bad. we had 4 rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. my room was on the second floor at the very back of the hotel below road level. There could not possibly have been a room with a worse out look. standard deluxe it was not. The food in the restaurant was appalling. we complained and they reduced our bill but as the was a birthday dinner for one of our group, the night was already ruined.

Great hotel but rooms, while not particularly small, with very limited wardrobe space and no drawers at all. Half our clothes had to be kept in suitcases. Other than that very good. Great staff and good position. Would stay there again.

Lovely clean hotel with pleasant staff and a great breakfast. Would recommend a room upgrade as the basic rooms are small for 2 people

Fabulous hotel. Pool staff, didn’t spend a great deal of time in the hotel as there is so much going on outside

Staff were excellent. Breakfast choice immense and tasty. Would have enjoyed a room with a view over the marina but the building site to the side and rear provided an interesting diversion.
