Accommodation was very clean, the only thing I could say is the shower curtain isn't best situated as you had to battle with it whilst getting a shower.

The hotel is stunning and food was stunning. Our rooms were immaculate. Only gave 4 stars though as spike bar closes at 8. We were informed it was open till late and had sports on the screen. The owners were immense though and happily dropped us off in Derby where we were able to have a few drinks. Staff couldn't do enough. They were helpful and easy going . The rooms are massive.

The staff are fantastic at this resort, every member of staff we had contact with were always smiling and friendly, couldn't do enough to help. Rooms clean and spacious, ours had a great view of the 4th and 5th holes. Food in the Dovecote was outstanding, really good quality. Would not hesitate to recommend or go back to this resort.

Fabulous resort, was upgraded to a suite. Staff excellent. The dovecote restaurant is fine dining and service top notch. Breakfast room is good but the service is very slow, waited 1hr for breakfast and had to rust it due to nearly our tee time for golf.

On arriving at the hotel we were able to check in straight away (10:30), which was a pleasant surprise as you normally have to wait until the afternoon. Although the course was a bit boggy in places, due to the amount of rain, it was still playable. The Spike bar has a good selection of beers and the bar prices are reasonably priced. We had the superior Twin Rooms, which were very spacious and clean and had a good size bathroom. Our evening meal was in the Dovecote restaurant and the food was amazing, the staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Overall this is an excellent venue for golfers and non-golfers, will certainly return as this has been one of the best venue we had been too.

All the staff in all departments were very helpful and courteous and with a good sense of humour. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed. We had a good night's sleep with no extraneous noises. The only small niggle we had was the limited menu in the restaurant. Although with 5 choices, fish, chicken, duck, steak (£3 extra) and a veggie, it did cover most bases. The quality of the food was excellent. Bar prices were a bit high but no more than you would expect for a quality hotel, £4 for Pedigree, just short of £5 for Peroni. All in all the best overnight stay we have had anywhere. We will definitely be back.

Excellent service and quality food. Staff go beyond helpful. A member of our party fell ill and needed hospital attention. They provided transport and couldn’t have been ore helpful. Restaurant stall merit a mention too. All in all a fabulous stay and we will be returning.

The course is very well maintained by the green keeping staff. The nothing that lets it down are lots of broken tees on the teeing area and a lack of sand in the bunkers.
Steve
✓29 Apr 2025
Unfortunately the greens were very bumpy due partly to lack of rain and the spring work to get them ready for summer. The rest of the course was in excellent condition. I'm sure in a few weeks the greens will be excellent. Our group all enjoyed the two days we were there

The course was in generally good condition, a bit soft in some areas, but expected. The main thing was the greens didn't seem to run true, with the course being described as a championship course, the green were far from that.

✓18 Oct 2022
unfortunately on both days, we had very slow groups in front. makes the experience quite frustrating. day 1 nearly 5 hours. Quite a large group of ladies having an awayday 2, 4.5 hours. the terrain is quite a comfortable walk. no real reason for such slow play.
Celia
✓12 Oct 2022
Gently undulating fairways in excellent condition - a comfortable walk with no hills. Although the greens had recently been cored and sanded, they were all flat and very true. Coming from a club with a links style course we found the fallen leaves a bit troublesome when looking for our balls but that’s to be expected at this time of year. Beautiful views across the course and surrounding countryside and the herd of deer were an unexpected treat! We’ve already recommended the venue to friends. First round on Sunday was quick (3 1/2 hrs) but Monday morning was a slow one (4 3/4 hrs), the members in front of us weren’t in a hurry and never showed any intention of letting us through, even though, as I discovered later, they had been asked to by staff.

The course presented a fair challenge for the ladies - especially some of the well placed water hazards. However, we were a mix of handicaps - and overall both high and low handicappers thoroughly enjoyed playing the course.

✓24 Aug 2022
Considering the dry weather the course was not in bad shape. The greens were fine and you could see a lot of work had been carried out. All of our golfing group were happy and as the lead booking person for our group, I had no complaints about course quality.

Two good rounds. Greens a bit bumpy -in line with most other courses because of greens work ( hollow tining etc). Course difficulty average for men but quite hard for ladies.
Donald
✓28 Mar 2022
Due to previous weather fairways were very wet and muddy. The greens had been hollow tined and dressed with sand so putting was difficult. The pro and staff were very helpful. I will play there again when conditions are better.
Robert
✓17 Oct 2021
Lovely course in excellent condition. Unfortunately on day two the greens were being aerated so small holes all over. I understand that this is a job that has to be done but it would have been nice to have known about beforehand.
Anne

We were a group of ladies who found the course long and felt it was for the men not women. The slope difficulty was less than ours. But we enjoyed our two games of golf very much, and hope to come back.

Morley Hayes is a well designed course with some interesting holes, you would do well to play to your handicap. There are plenty of other facilities including a driving range and 9 hole course. Recommended for an overnight group booking.
Matthew
✓28 Sep 2021
Course is long and difficult. Lots to think about and plenty of approach shots needed accuracy. Not sure why but the greens on the front 9 were in bad condition compared to the back 9. The front 9 were slow and bobbly. Overall the course though is lovely. Speed on Saturday was fine but a bit slow on the Sunday.
Adam
✓20 Aug 2021
Fair test of golf, punishing rough. Pace of play was very good for a 4 ball on a resort golf course at a weekend. On the Saturday tee time was 1300 and hardly saw anyone else. Course in good condition, with good verity of holes and some nice views.

Nice walk and generous fairways although rough a little long. Greens were slightly disappointing because whatever machines they are using is leaving grass cuttings on the greens.

We visited as a party of 12 ladies for a Sunday Driver. Due to the recent bad weather the course was obviously very wet. It made playing hard going and appeared to be longer than it actually is. It was still very playable so well done to the green keepers.

We had booked one buggie for the sunday and two buggies for the monday via YGT but on arrival at the pro shop none had been booked. Who's fault we don't know, could be their's, could be YGT. However, despite being very busy with most of their buggies being out they managed to sort us out for both days. Big thanks to the pro shop staff for that. Although I have rated the difficulty as average, it is a course that will make you think and you need to know your club distances. The greens were average for speed, they were softish and accepted a ball landing without to much run on. Unlike it's neighbour, Breadsall Priory, it is not a hilly course and can be walked quite easily. I am looking forward to playing it again.

We were a group of 16 ladies. We thoroughly enjoyed the course and the greens were some of the best we have experienced when visiting hotels. The course is open with enough penalty areas to keep you on your toes.
