While the dunes are reminiscent of the great seaside course that line the shores of the United Kingdom and Ireland, Noordwijkse is slightly unorthodox in that a stretch of holes, four through seven, eleven and twelve, are played through delightful pine woodland.

No less than nine Dutch Opens have been staged at Noordwijkse, with champions including Ballesteros, Langer and Montgomerie underlining the quality of the golf course.
