The course at North Shore is not a pure links because parts of it are parkland in style, but it is beautifully maintained and a very enjoyable challenge to play in any weather. The par-71, 6214-yard course is laid out over two loops, allowing the option of a quick nine holes in the evening if you so desire.
It was designed by the legendary course architect, James Braid, who won the Open Championship five times between 1901 and 1910. He transformed a piece of exposed coastline and lush tree lined parkland into a very memorable golf course and, like all good seaside course designers, took into account the prevailing easterly wind - which can cause even the best players a headache - when laying out the course.
North Shore also boasts a short game practice area and a putting green, and buggies are also available to hire from the pro shop.
The North Shore Hotel and Golf Club enjoys an unrivalled position, enjoying views across the Wash to the Norfolk coast, not to mention some fabulous vistas over the golf course. A warm and traditional welcome is on offer here for the travelling golfer. Lots of dark wood and soft, comfortable seating makes the hotel a very inviting place to be, and the restaurant serves up excellent English fare cooked with locally sourced ingredients - the Sunday carvery is particularly popular among guests. The James Braid bar is open all day every day, offering bar snacks and a wide range of real ales and lager - an ideal place to relax and enjoy those concentrating on the greens outside.
There are 36 bedrooms in all, comprising singles, twins, doubles, triples and a quad. All rooms are en-suite with TV, direct line telephone, tea and coffee facilities. Most have spectacular views of the golf course and sea. The Residents Lounge is equipped with satellite TV so that you do not miss out on those favourite sporting events.
There is ample parking for 100 cars and the hotel is ideally situated for those wishing to enjoy the nightlife in Skegness, which is only a very short taxi ride or drive away.

Fantastic golf course with a good challenge. Greens are top level. Staff very efficient and food is very good too. The atmosphere created by staff was a little tense, but they were very focussed on delivering a good service. One member of staff actually went to a shop in the middle of breakfast for gluten free bread. Which impressed me.

Staff are friendly but sadly the hotel rooms are of a poor quality and urgently need refurbishment. The restaurant food was nice with good choices. We wanted single occupancy rooms and didn’t mind paying the enhanced rate, this is only fair as one guest in a two bed room. Unfortunately we were put into tiny rooms with one uncomfortable single bed, so why are we paying an enhanced rate for a room that can clearly only accommodate one person? The website boasts that all rooms have either a view of the sea or the golf course, not true. The single room had a view of the roof and a noisy extractor fan.

All the staff were helpful smiling and friendly. Restaurant not open in evening so are in bar. Food well cooked and presented just a shame it was the bar. Breakfast basic English breakfast, hearty without the extras. All in all we enjoyed the stay.

It is over 20 years since i have visited North Shores Golf Hotel and i was not disappointed with what i found. The Hotel was very clean and was constantly being cleaned under covid restrictions the rooms were again clean and well appointed although our was bang under the Pro shop and was a bit noisy from 7am due to groups going out on the course so a lay in was out of the question. The food which was inclusive in our deal was of very good quality and plenty of it, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in all areas, and i will surely be going again.

The hotel is very tired and needs refurbishment, the bath facilities are very poor with a shower door which does not open fully, black mould over the wall tiles, but the linen is clean. The staff are excellent, however breakfast is very limited, no fruit or yogurts or continental breakfasts. The saving grace for this hotel is the food other than breakfast is lovely, an excellent chef.

If you have not played the famous Braid Northshore then you are missing an altogether very pleasing experience. This course is for any level of golfer,it has your imagination working overtime and is great fun to play in any weather. Our two day short stay was a complete success starting with an effortless booking process all details and needs dealt with most efficiently by Yourgolftravel,i am very impressed with this service. We were a party of 8 gentleman golfers 7 of which had not visited this gem before and all were highly delighted with there golfing break. The weather although very windy and blowing off the Sea was fine and we also enjoyed the last round of The Master's sat in the Hotel bar.Give it a try and i feel sure you will be back for more.*****

We played two rounds and were not rushed on both occasions. The course was enjoyable with varying holes and suited players of all handicaps. My only Cristian was some fairways were a little worn but that didn’t affect our overall view that this is a nice place to go and play
Robert

This is a fantastic course with a bit of everything. The links' hole fairways are really scorched, but that's the way it goes when it's been so dry. The greens are very receptive, lovely, and green and run quickly. It's always a pleasure to play here.

Fabulous two days golf enjoyed by all 20 of our group. We were blessed with good weather apart from winds but expected on the coast. Greens and fairways all in good condition, apart from forking and grooves showing on some greens, but didn't deter from great two days had by all.

course was great really difficult on second day when wind got up lots of OB so need to be careful on some tee shots when wind is blowing that way the 17th green is a test with so many slopes but fun overall a great course just a shame there is no driving range all though there is a net and small chipping area
Paul
✓15 Apr 2024
Excellent value for money on a challenging course for all types of golfers would benefit an area where you could practice your short game even if it was a couple of mats with a netting surround

The course is maintained to a really good standard and is an unusual mix of parkland and links. The course is well sign posted to the next tee etc, the buggies were all quite new and in good condition. The people manning the pro shop were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely play it again but would stay somewhere else.
Roger

We got let through nearly everything we were held up so plus marks for players on the course. Weather was perfect so that helped as well. Fairways, tees and green were well maintained and in good conditions. Enjoyable couple of rounds.

Played two rounds - contrast was stark, nice weather both days but a combo of fatigue and wind on day two presented two different cards. Parts of the course, fairways in particular showed signs of over playing, rabbit problems and general end of summer stress. Would return as the course was challenging and the general facilities at the club - staff, food, and accommodation all bundled together made for an extremely good value break.

✓17 Sep 2021
Always like playing at Northshore with being part links and park land. Greens are always good and depending on the pin positions can be quite tricky. A good test of golf for the low to high handicapper
John

Pro was very flexible with tee times, A good trip
Kevin
✓25 Aug 2021
The Golf Course was varied between typical Links Course holes to a parkland setting. It proved a great challenge for all abilities but all enjoyed the course immensley. I would say though that the course is laid out in a small area which does crate problems where fairways are close and the rogue shot can infiltrate the wrong fairway but other than that the course was fine
Iain

It is over 20 years since i have visited North Shores Golf Hotel and i was not disappointed with what i found the golf course was in immaculate condition and quite challenging to both my wife and myself with both a mixture of parkland and links holes the staff in the Pro shop was very helpful and informative with course help.

Great Lincs course, superb condition, it saves this place as the hotel is not that upto date.
John
✓22 Jul 2021
The course was in really good condition bearing in mind how hot it was and little rain there had been. The greens ran true however quite hard to read. My only criticism would be that the putting green is very small and not of a very good standard compared to the rest of the set up. We will definitely be back.
Kevin

All most all the holes are different I particularly liked the hidden greens on the beach side. The pro in the shop pointed out that the course had been very busy with lots of extra players due to golfers like us having to change to a staycation golf break.

It is early in the year, and the greens were bad,but it is a busy course. If it's windy, then a few of the holes are very testing, but it is an excellent course, half links/inland.
