Nothing wrong with the hotel food was fantastic drinks are pricey but it is what it is

Excellent rooms , comfy with plenty of room in them. Friendly staff and excellent food

The only reason for low scores is because we were looking forward to a swim and jacuzzi after 4 hours of golf in very hot sun. We then found out the Spa is closed and won't be opening again until late 2024! This was not mentioned at point of booking, I paid for a golf break with a Spa, but only got golf. Can't fault the hotel or staff but in the future please research the facility for what is actually open.

Very disappointing that the pool wasn’t open , And a snooker room wasn’t available either , food was very good however , and the staff very friendly

Great place for an inexpensive stay rooms are very good clean and a have recently been refurbished.

Great hotel, nice decor, fantastic staff and great value for money. The £30 for evening meal was more than ample and most of the party struggled to spend it.

The accommodation was very good, clean and spacious with tea and coffee in the rooms. Buffett breakfast was excellent. The hot Buffett in the evening was good but not supervised, our party of 32 shared the restaurant with another group of about 16 which was not a problem, BUT no one took control of the food serving leaving some at the rear with no choice or no food. They had to wait for more to be made. The bar was fine and the prices fair. They are new owners of only a few months and they did ask and received feedback and were gratefull,but a lot of work is required especially on the course!!!!!.

Great hotel, slightly dated in places but very clean. Restaurant was lovely and served excellent food. Room good size and very comfortable. Leisure facilities remain closed.

Cannot fault the hotel , food was good rooms nice , the let down was no swimming pool and spa facilities, had a snooker table but no cues.

The room was fine but there was no SkyTV in the bar.The big disappointment was that the spa/gym have not yet reopened,despite them looking so appealing on the website.Thought a rebate would be in order for this.

Brilliant value for money, room, food and staff all excellent only downside was that the spa and pool were closed.

Staff are friendly, apart from the golf shop Pro who seemed to be very disinterested.

After reading several reviews on trip advisor was pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed Owston Hall.Golf food staff room all good. Excellent mid week break for couples due to it being quiet would go again.

Hotel was really nice, unfortunately the spa facilities were all closed. After a round of golf this was very disappointing. The bar closed at 11pm, again disappointing as the night was just starting & the facilities were closing. The lights in the snooker room didn't work, one cue, no black ball & the TV was broken. The detail is what makes the trip memorable

The rooms were comfy. Did not like the paper cups for tea and coffee. The evening meal main course was very basic and the choice limited

Food, and the many choices of lager available,made our two night three rounds of golf break so enjoyable,that we will book again next year. ALL the Staff worked as a team,so the gold medal goes to......EVERYONE

Decor is very dated, carpets are loose and have lumps underneath. Trouser press didn't work, windows didn't open. Door on arrival was hard to open and when we left the room it was hard to lock. The door itself looked like a hammer and chisel had been used on it. Overall not good.

Comfy staff overworked and very busy

The staff were not helpful and didn’t make us feel welcome, anything we needed seemed a hardship for them. The food was average at best, the golf course was in a poor state of repair, bins full of rubbish etc. We definitely agreed we Wouldn’t go back to Owston, disappointing.

The pool, and gym and spa have been closed since 2020 and are not yet due to open. We should have been informed of this before booking. As the weather forecast was variable, we might have chosen a different location. The staff were friendly and efficient, with one exception, and the food was very good. We spoke to other visitors who have been before and came back because of the quality of the food. The room had a king size bed and was large enough to still feel spacious. The 18-hole golf course is interesting with tricky rather than long holes. The course is generally in good condition although the greens may have suffered from the variable weather. Also, the bunkers need much more sand. The hotel overall is in a good location, with good surroundings, but the decor is a bit "tired". I suspect many hotels have suffered owing to Covid restrictions and closures.

Stayed at the hotel in July,really good food . Prices reasonable at the bar. Course really good with excellent greens. We will be back

Accommodation was superb however we were never informed about having to pay £50 deposit for every room.

The hall itself was great. The bar was roomy and the restaurant and food was very good. Unfortunately due to covid we couldn't use the snooker table or the pool facilities which was a shame. The rooms were clean and beds very comfortable.

Very nice accommodation. We'll decorated rooms with just a few shortcomings for ladies.e.g no mirror over desk or in bathroom illuminated. Still great value and staff accommodating. Good food choices and nicely presented.

Enjoyed our stay alot despite it being very last minute.. wifi struggles being away from the main hotel area otherwise really pleasent staff !

16 ladies visited Owston Hall for 2 days of golf. The hotel facilities,staff,food etc were all satisfactory.

Hotel and food very good. Staff helpful only problem was they will only give 1 key per room, this is a little awkward at times

Saw some less than favourable reviews — but some times these reviews say more about the complainer and you really have to go and make up your own mind. We were very pleasantly surprised. Obviously it’s an older building so is not swish or cool. Just very comfortable. All staff were friendly and the meals were excellent. Best value for money we’ve had for ages.

A nice large en suite room with two large double beds

The course is in real need of some TLC we were a group of 10 and although we made it a great weekend we were disappointed with the condition of the course

Not the longest of courses and may not suit a low handicapper but well maintained. Friendly staff good pro shop speaking to some of the members a lot of upgrades are in the pipeline.

A short course, something like 5,888 yards. But the rough Is brutal and the greens are very small. Good condition and the views are great. Need to be precise from tee.

No locker room available , the bunkers were a disgrace with weeds growing in them and absolutely no sand , this was every bunker on the course , tees in very poor condition , sat nav watches no use as the yardages and holes were nothing like , Par 4 first hole 300 plus yards , showed 500 plus , wouldn’t return unless money was spent on improving most aspects

Played April for 2 rounds course was ok for time of year but was good to play

Golf course was in the best Condition it could be due to the amount of rain that had fallen during the week.

Nice course. We played as the greens were being prepped for the start of the summer season but they were still pretty quick and in lovely condition

I know we have just been through a lot of dry drought conditions but the course was way below standard and quite short. I saw only one sprinkler head on the course that I don't think has worked for a long time. They must have been using hose pipes to irrigate the course the greens were green, but most were dry and cracked on the perimeters and slow. the tee boxes and fairways were very ROUGH. The course used to be 7.500yds and championship standard. They now have a 9 hole par 3 course and a very poor 5,500yds of the yellow tees course. The back 9 showed a little more promise with the layout but NOT the condition. The new owners seem keen to improve the course but it will take some time and a lot of hard work and money. Jason and his staff were very helpful and understanding. It has left me a bit deflated as I could see and hear the disappointment from our 32 golfers who were used to a lot better venues. I felt gutted and let down having organised the trip!!.We will NOT be returning. It remains to be seen if I organise another outing next year?? time is a healer. Yours John Cairns.

Played this course twice as part of a golf package. The first round was hideously slow with people who clearly refuse to let you through (1pm tee), the next day (8.30am tee) was brilliant and pace of play was great. The course is nice, but definitely needs some TLC. For what we payed, I was happy with the course. If you want a championship golf course, then Owston isn’t for you. We had a great time.

The greens are some of the worst we have played on they were longer than the fairways , mushrooms were actually growing in the green , bunkers were like concrete and a distinct lack of water on the course.

Greens and fairways good Tee boxes not great Bunkers poor not much sand a lot of weeds GPS almost non existent only one of our group could get accurate distance this coupled with Very few yardage markers made club selection difficult

The fairways and greens were in good shape but the tee areas and bunkers were in need of attention.

Could be a good course but in need of TLC, tee boxes in particular were poor. Potential to be much better with a little bit of attention, especially now the grass is growing fast.

Due to it being March course still in quite good condition.First few holes not great but after 6th a good test of your golf.All in all a good experience.Very friendly Pro.

Greens & tee boxes were not in good condition & very inconsistent. The general upkeep of the course left a lot to be desired, bunkers were poor & overall course maintenance was not of a high standard. It appeared that the whole course could have done with a good "spring clean"

Very untidy.. The greens and tee boxes were much to be desired.

Tee off area's rather warn.however..very interesting holes with well placed mature trees to test your skills.Open fairways with a few water features together with testing par 3's...a delight to play..wish I lived in the area as I would join as a member. Jamie in the Pro's shop made us so welcome...have booked for next year

The course itself is decent for our standard. There was a large group ahead of us who were drinking heavily for the whole round. Lots of shouting between the groups, beer bottles and cans littered around the course. Play was very slow, waiting and talking on the greens and tees while we waited to take our shots. Told us there was no point in us playing through as there were other groups in front, from what we could see there was a least one clear hole between the group in front. If groups like this are allowed on the course, staff need to be on the course to keep things moving and sort any issues. Others behind us we're also not impressed.

Greens a bit bare in places and the hole numbers and labels need a refresh. , looks like No investment for a while

The greens had weeds growing out of them, the tee boxes were bare and Not repaired. The rough was all different heights, we never saw one member of green staff the whole time we were there.

The shop sold water and other drinks and chocolate. I did not see golf balls - but then I wasn't looking for any. There were no practice nets. The course is tricky rather than long and playing it a second time was much easier although my score was only 1 or 2 lower. There were distance marker sat 150 yards but some were obscured and I am still unsure if they were to the middle or the front of the green. On our second round, we completed the course in about 3:20, helped by a fourball letting the two of us through.

More buggies could be a great addition. Course played really well

We all very much enjoyed the golf course. The 14th and 18th holes are absolutely fantastic. The greens were exceptional after the rain we had during the week and on the Saturday. Only thing I was dissatisfied with was the state of the bunkers and tee boxes. Not a lot of sand and tee boxes a bit long and not flat. Nothing to bad though. The tees were slightly congested and we thought a marshall shouldve been there to control times thats why the rounds were a bit on the slow side. All in all though very good and would return

16 ladies played the course and were pleased with the overall condition and layout. The greens were maintained to a very high standard. It was just disappointing to see there were no tees numbered making it difficult to be sure we were following the correct route. On asking why the numbers weren't present the answer was they are in the process of revamping the course and are waiting for new numbered signs. Surely it would be a good idea to place temporary numbers on the tees until these are put in place??

The course is excellent but the greens need some work, currently they are very hard with limited growth. I think the green keepers work hard to ensure routes around the greens are kept in good condition. Greens 11 to 15 through the gate are refreshing and interesting and make this course very enjoyable. Friendly staff and accommodation is value for money. Enjoyed the stay Penny & Wayne

There was no numbers on the Tee's The course has been changed and is not as good as last time I stayed. The fairways were non existent on some holes and this made it quite hard to get the best line. My GPS and my partners (both different types) did not work at all due to the changes. Finally there were millions of daisies both on and off the fairways, it appeared as no selective weed killer had been used this year.

It’s a course in the process of being upgraded but still fine to play on. Second 9 is the more interesting. Stunning selection of trees. Helpful pro shop.

A level course not too long so we as pensioners we were not too tired after 18 holes. The only criticism was that the tees were not numbered so to find the way round for the first time was not easy,and we had to check the card to see the map and check what the yardage was.
