Jones vision for the Oxfordshire is a modern parkland course in from the American mould, and the incredible course in its short existence has already featured on the European Tour hosting the Benson & Hedges International, Anderson World Matchplay and the English Ladies Open. Some of the professional game’s most prominent names have graced the course, which remains one of England’s best championship tests.
From the tournament tees The Oxfordshire reaches 7,192 yards, which is more than enough for most golfing mortals, and throughout the layout are dotted some majestic holes. None is more famous than the 17th; this incredible par 5 has been named in Golf Magazine’s top 500 holes in the world, and is typical of the golfing adventure created by Jones.
Signature hole: 17th hole, Par 5 - 588 yards from the white tees.
A straight drive is required on this nerve-racking par-5, 17th hole to avoid the bunker on the right and the water to the left. The lake runs along the entire left edge of the fairway, with the green situated in the distance across the water. The safe but longer option is to play around the lake, while the longer hitters can have a crack at either a second fairway or the green itself in two.
Along with The Grove, The Oxfordshire is at the forefront of modern English championship golf design, with terrific facilities that make it ideal for hosting high profile corporate golf events as well as being the ultimate stop on a golf tour around Oxford.
The Oxfordshire Golf Club is located just 4 miles South West of Thame, just off of the M40 and 12 miles from the historic town of Oxford.

Staff were all polite and professional throughout the hotel. The hotel itself looks like it needs some serious investment as everything looks a little dated. Room was more than adequate for a one night stay. The overall hotel facilities were fine for everything we required. Food in the restaurant was a mixed bag. Our evening meal was very nice but the breakfast in the morning was a sorry looking plate of filth. I’d like to congratulate The Oxfordshire on being the location where I’ve paid the most for a pint anywhere in my life. £9 for a pint of Guinness which let’s be honest is disgusting.

What a fantastic stay. The hotel facilities, service, staff and food was amazing. The golf course is an excellent challenge and a joy to play. We had golfers of varying abilities frim 10hcp to 26,and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The only downside was the price of some of the drinks. £9 for a pint of Guinness, £4 for half a pint of coke is rediculous, but we are already looking to return next year.

Enjoyed my stay. Staff were really friendly. Just really disappointed with my food. We arrived early for breakfast which we took in the spike bar. Breakfast was £15 and you had to buy coffee on top of that. The eggs were pre-cooked rubbery slop and almost inedible and the tiny pot of beans was cold. This was supposed to set us up for the day so really disappointed. Again, evening meal; paid extra for the steak which was so chewy I couldn’t swallow it - really disappointed again. Golf and spa were great though.

Came here for a golf break. Room was lovely but could do with more toiletries. When booked it says that these were all included in the room so I didn’t bring any however there was only one small pouch of shampoo/shower gel combined which was not enough for 2 people (or 1 person if you showered at night and the morning). No conditioner. No liquid soap. No water in the room. Only one teeny tiny biscuit each. Only 4 tiny milk pots. Nice evening meal and breakfast.

✓29 Apr 2025
The hotel is large and appears to be very well set up for large groups. The bars have plenty of space and are well furnished. However there are several areas the hotel has compromised on. The staff are young and whilst polite do not appear to be well trained. There is not enough of them resulting in long waiting times to be served. The breakfasts, whether in the spike bar or breakfast room are expensive and of very poor quality. The evening meal was good but think the guy in charge, serving us our pre-ordered food, was going for a speed record on how quick he could get our starter, main and desserts out. Lastly if you fancied a pint of guiness be prepared to pay £9! As we were there for the golf it wasn’t something that spoilt our 2 days, but would suggest with a bit of effort the hotel could make significant improvements.

This is a comfortable hotel with all you should expect from such a venue. The only minor point was that our room was directly over the supplies delivery bay and refuse collection, both of which some us much too early. Balance that with the most helpful and courteous staff and early morning noise is but a little thing.

Comfortable rooms. Staff seem young & inexperienced in customer relations. We have stayed here previously without any issues but will reconsider returning.

We had a confirmed reservation for 4 rooms for single occupancy. 24 hours before our arrival we were advised that only 2 of the booked rooms would be available to us and we would have a twin room for the 2 people. No apology from the hotel. On the day of arrival only 2 twin rooms were offered. Yourgolf managed to get the hotel to reinstate the booking to 2 single occupancy and 1 twin room. The hotel reception were ineffective, unapologetic and lacked any experience in customer service. Worse still we have still not received a refund for the 2 single occupancy supplements which we had prepaid. Hotel is tired. Food is ok at best. We wouldn't recommend this hotel

✓10 May 2024
Overall the hotel is looking a bit tired, scratched and damaged furniture in bedroom, stained and damaged tables in dining room. Evening meal was not good experience, the restaurant had no note of our reservation, even though I had a confirmation, however a table was promptly made up for us. The main courses were awful, overcooked and dry pork and one of my guests had undercooked and cold chicken. Breakfast however was very good and helped to redeem the disappointment of the previous evening. Overall it would appear investment is needed for a refurb, the spa in particular is very tired, the sun lounger Matts were stained, discoloured and very uninviting. Staff were all very good. In conclusion it’s probably not the place for couples such as we were but OK for all male golf groups or societies.

This hotel IS the 90s. Incredibly tired & tatty for such a destination. The biggest disappointment was food. We arrived & my husband ordered a full English breakfast before we headed out. It was pitiful & looked like it had been sat under a heat lamp for some time. Our evening meal was included in the package but we decided not to chance it & booked a local pub in Thame for the evening instead. Breakfast the next day which was included was ok but nothing special. Staff were all lovely & helpful. Room was comfortable & well presented.

The golf was in excellent condition well done. The hotel looks tired in places with scuff marks on the walls in the bedroom where I suspect chairs had marked it. On arrival we were informed the air con was not working (a basic requirement these days) however I noticed on trip advisor this was something which had been highlighted in July why has it not been fixed after 3 MONTHS????? The visit to the spa was good and the treatment I booked was excellent. This could be a fantastic hotel but money needs to be spent on it with lighter colour furnishing and flooring.

The hotel staff were superb, from arrival to departure. The reception staff were so helpful, the catering and bar staff were friendly and obliging. The food was good. They were very short staffed in the evenings, the hotel wasnt that busy but the poor barman was tending the bar, serving meals, collecting glasses etc. The restaurant is quite small, and they put us in a private dining room the first evening but we felt there was no atmosphere. The second evening we sat in the restaurant, but again, it wasnt that busy and it also lacked in atmosphere. The bedrooms were acceptable, my bathroom was looking very tired, the shower needs resealing and the plugholes need replacing. No water in the rooms or a mini bar.

Despite a slight mix up at check-in, which the staff sorted out quickly, no complaints. Breakfast was excellent, and 19 out of 21 people enjoyed their dinner. One issue with the rooms was that the air conditioning had been down since April, and they are finally repairing that this week (issue with spare parts) so rooms were on the warm side, but overall, the Group enjoyed the stay. Spike bar food prices on the high side, but pleased that the Lakes Bar remained open until 11.30pm.

A very enjoyable 2 night golf weekend for 10 people. Hotel check in was excellent, very pleasant staff and very helpful. Rooms were comfortable, but heating and air conditioning wasn’t working. Fan heaters given if requested. Food was very good and service was above average. We were given a private room both evenings for dinner, which was a great bonus, as groups can be a little loud sometimes 😀. All in all, a really good experience, probably the best hotel/golf club our group has stayed in. Good value for money.

Arrived at 11am a check-in was excellent both quick efficient and room available ahead of my golf round. Two little niggles for me regarding the room. Firstly no drinking water (which is a bug bear) so having to fill the kettle from the sink to make a cup of tea and then UHT rather than fresh milk (yuck). The second was the toiletries which were poor compared to stays at other hotels comprised off a solitary shower wash and a body cream un-used which came in a eco friendly pouch. Whilst I guess I could have asked for another one the room should be provided with two

The hotel is what let’s this place down. They only have two bars, one doesn’t open until the evening and both bars are closed early..we arrived back at midnight after eating out and both bars were closed which let it down. Plus they couldn’t offer a late checkout which for a hotel is bad. The guy behind the desk was a NO man! If the hotel was better I’d have rated the whole experience as 5 star.

Overall, the stay was a positive one. The staff were helpful and polite, the rooms were very smart and comfy, and the spa facilities were a great addition. There were a few things that put a slight dampener on the weekend. On the Sunday evening after we played golf we had a couple drinks in the spike bar before food. The room was not that busy however the time taken to get a pint was really disappointing. As well, some of the pints poured were not of a great standard, and when paying £6 a pint you'd at least like to fully enjoy it! There were 12 of us eating, 10 of which had the steak. There were very mixed reviews of the quality of the steak. I thought mine was great but a few others had very different views which was a shame. Also on the evening, the golf masters was on TV and coming to a conclusion, with a full lounge bar area with at least 30 people in. They shut the bar at 11 45pm with everyone wanting a couple more drinks to enjoy such an occasion, but sadly this would not be accommodated. Otherwise, it was a positive experience, and the general view is we would happily visit again, but possibly mostly because of the great golf course outside.

The Oxfordshire is a great resort for both the golfer and non-golfer. 24 of us attended for two days golf and the facilities, room, food etc were of a high standard. Staff friendly hut not enough of them, whether this due to the pandemic, we are not sure. Some of the bar service was very slow and wait times to be served were longer than they should be. Sadly the hotel doesn't offer the same standards as the golf course. A poor bar experience which looks tired and unkept. A clubhouse should be warm and welcoming. A couple of the bar staff were excellent and worked very hard but the restaurant manager or supervisor in the restaurant provided what i can only reference as the worst service I have ever experienced. The whole dinning experience was ruined because of him and this was clearly the same opinion of the other diners as many complained. A real shame.

✓25 Sep 2020
Not a good experience. We stayed at the Oxfordshire about 5 years ago and it was excellent. Sadly this time the stay was less than perfect. OK, we have a pandemic. Very low staff levels, some of the staff were less than helpful, noisy revellers outside their rooms at 2am, food ok but on a golf break the limited dinner menu remained the same on both days, the "restaurant" was a conference room with some tables, not a proper restaurant at all. We paid full price for this break and it was not worth the money.

Went on a golf/spa break. The course was tough but good, could have been due to the very hot weather that weekend. The weekend was excellent.

The hotel was convenient as it is part of the golf club and meant we didn’t have to travel. Check in was fast and the rooms where comfortable however there was no water in the room for a period on the Saturday morning. The food was average but the restaurant was noisy due to a wedding in the function room. Overall it was very average.

✓25 Jul 2019
The hotel appears to be short staffed, at the end of the round, no one was serving in the bar, but not surprising as hotel and course were quiet the whole 3 days of our stay. Dinner and breakfast were very average for a hotel of this quality. The dining room was lacking any atmosphere or ambience. The staff though are excellent and try very hard to please, especially Ben on reception. Overall, slightly disappointing.

Reception and management staff are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were good although few of the rooms have a view of the golf course which is disappointing. The Sports Bar downstairs is disappointing as the range/quality of food is variable and the place lacks any views of the course and therefore any atmosphere. The bar upstairs has panoramic views especially from the large terraces and has a nice ambiance albeit the price of £13.50 for G&T is far too expensive for thirsty golfers!! The evening meals were served in the private dining rooms where the food and the service is excellent - wine is a bit OTT price wise but as the package for 2 nights/3 rounds of golf is cheap they have to make their money somewhere!

Charlie The golf was as expected , however the hotel staff, organisation was somewhat lacking, we had two rooms booked, names and cards against rooms all incorrect so all weekend nothing but hassle trying to sign against rooms , refusals to get food or drinks booked against rooms , 1 hour to get food in the spike bar, which was cold when we eventually got, restaurant at night was terrible, only people in the restaurant and the food was cold, one plate inedible , bar closed upstairs for a wedding, only bar available was spike bar, Bar man was lazy and uncooperative , it could be such a good experience, unfortunately not mine , especially when all paid up front. Not a place to re visit . Hope the feedback is helpful Les young

We booked this venue on the recommendation of Your Golf Travel some 2 months ago and it was only week a prior to going that I looked up reviews on Trip Advisor. I was slightly concerned after reading some of the reviews.
However from the moment we arrived, things could not have gone better.
The 2 receptionists (Angie and Anne) were an absolute delight, both were extremely cheerful and so willing to help and advise. Nothing was too much trouble.
Because some the reviews were about slow play on the golf course (rounds lasting up to 5 ½ hours) we asked for our original table booking for the evening to put back an hour due to our concern of having to rush to shower and change for dinner. Angie said no trouble and sorted it out on the spot.
Most probably the best reception that we have ever received. (Well done you 2 ladies)
We arrived at about 12.00 noon and as our rooms were not available we went to the spike bar to have a drink and a snack before playing golf at 13.40 pm. Again we received excellent service from friendly staff members. Some reviews claim the drinks were expensive, and while they are not cheap, they compare with the average hotel prices.
The golf course overall was in excellent condition considering the extremely heavy rain that had fallen 2 days previously. Unfortunately some of the bunkers still had water laying in them but that;s understandable.
The fairways and greens were in absolutely perfect condition and the course features a good selection of testing holes. A typical American style layout with plenty of water and lots and lots of bunkers; I would suggest a few too many.
There was quite a lot of walking from greens to tees which might add to the time to play, but our 4 ball still managed to complete our round in 4 hours 30 mins. My wife was wearing a fitsbits which recorded the distance walked on this round and it recorded 7.32 miles. We did have a few waits on some the holes due groups in front. On our second round the following morning we manage a 4 hour 20min. Overall considering it was a new course to us the time to play seemed very reasonable.
We booked a table in the main restaurant where we had a restricted menu included in our package, but for an extra £7.50 per person we could have full ala carte choice. This is something that we took advantage of and recommend to others.
We were served by a delightful young lady by the name of Macarena and she was most helpful and very attentive.
The selection on the main menu was extremely varied and we really enjoyed our choices. I did have a slight hic-cup in that my medium rare rib eye steak when served was cold, but as soon as I raised the issue the manager quickly responded by replacing with a freshly cooked medium rare rib eye, and apologised and additionally deducted our £7.50 surcharges from our bill. Top service.
There was good selection of wine from which we selected both white and red wine and both were very good.
What with the excellent service from Macarena and the prompt attention from Florin, plus of course the great food and wine; our dinner perfectly ended a truly enjoyable day.
Overall our stay at The Oxfordshire really was a most enjoyable experience and one that we will definitely remember, as well as recommend to all of our golfing friends.

Thank you for recommending The Oxfordshire as it was everything we wanted from a golf break and more.
This is a first class venue with a superb golf course, an excellent hotel and attentive and friendly staff and we will definitely return!
If I was to make any suggestion to the hotel to improve the package it would be to provide a slightly broader range of dinner options. I don’t think offering 3 to 4 options would overly complicate things. Saying that; the food itself was excellent.

Many thanks go to YGT once again for organising a fantastic golf break at such short notice; it was a birthday treat that was a dream from start to finish.
The hotel is peaceful, clean and serves excellent food. The members of staff, particularly in the restaurant, really look after each guest and there’s a very good choice of food for dinner and breakfast.
The guestrooms are spacious and comfy, and each room has its own balcony, which as a smoker is superb.
The golf though is something else. There are bunkers and dunes everywhere, as well as huge lakes, so you really must apply course management and not be tempted to "go for" too many shots.
The views are stunning while you play too. No matter your
score at the end of the round, the experience of the course is a dream and we’ll
definitely be returning soon.

✓20 Aug 2025
Unfortunately, like the hotel the golf course was a little tatty which is a shame because it is a stunning layout. The biggest issue for us was the state of the greens. Putting wasn’t far off being pointless as the greens had recently been hollow tined. We fully understand that course maintenance is required throughout the season but it would have been nice to know green maintenance had been planned at the time of our booking.

Like all courses, it's where you hit it. There's lots of sand with some huge bunkers, but hitting woods out was straight forward. The signature holes are great fun. I'm not always the straightest of drivers and although the rough looked savage, i didn't loose my first ball until the 17th on day 2,and that was in the lake! It looks tough but is eminently playable and one if the best courses I've had the pleasure of playing and I've done most of the Big ones.

✓2 Jul 2025
Course was really nice and has some great holes, wide fairways with banks either side, lots of bunkers and doglegs. If your really wide then it’s lost balls in the heather or wet in the water. We walked with trolleys however it is hilly and lots of groups were using buggies. Fairways are lush as they get watered and the greens were in excellent condition for resort golf with lots of guests. Loads of bunkers in fairways and around the greens some of them massive, all kept really well with a few weeds growing through but these had been treated and dyed. 17th hole is the best par 5 I have played! Half way house is on the 6th and 12th try a sausage roll they are massive and delicious, on par with the Belfry for those who know 😉. We played off the yellow tees and this was challenging enough for our group (handicaps from 9 to 18) the whites are much longer but you do get a few more shots to play with. Excellent place and course we all said we would go again!

✓22 May 2025
It is a very nice looking course, set in a bowl in the landscape. Seems to have lots of very long and very short holes. Lots of water and sand with steep runb-offs and large capture areas but wide fairways so if you play straight you wont be bothered by the hazards. The fairway bunkers are enormous in places but have a hard pan filling so hitting to distance with iron or rescue wood is quite possible. Greens are very large with nice putting surface and with quite significant slopes on some of them. Tea hut /toilet adjoins the 6th and 13th tees
Dave
✓20 May 2025
Played off the yellows, would have rated it hard off the whites. Long course, lots of bunkers, but a good test, higher handicappers can still play it. The weather has been very dry, so some of the rough soil is cracking and the large bunkers where not covered by sand are like concrete, however, the overall condition of the course is very good. Greens run true

We played in very warm and sunny conditions so probably played the course at its best. It’s well set out with large accommodating fairways and greens. Lots of bunkers and large water areas make it good challenge. There is also a great halfway hut serving the biggest sausage rolls you’ll see! The pace of play was on the slow side, which you would expect for a venue that invites larger groups. A course marshall would probably help. The club shop is extremely well equipped and the staff really helpful. Great practice areas which were in very good condition. Would recommend to golfers of all abilities.

Because of water logging, it was tough going. If you can carry your bag (even a half set) do that as the roping off of greens meant people with trolleys had to walk a very long way around to get to correct part of course for next hole. Day 1 golf was slow but course ranger/manager identified there was an issue with one particular group. Day 2 was better pace of play - would be quicker if everyone in group was carrying a bag rather than trolley.

The pro shop staff were more than helpful in finding us a tee time that would get us around before darkness descended. Thank you gentlemen. The fairways were suffering from worm casts and high-traffic areas showing early signs of wear, quite normal for time of year. They had taken the first cut out to the rough making easy decisions on preferred lies and very wide fairways, enjoy it while you can. The greens were excellent with a generally good surface and subtle borrows. We play quickly but my Strava clocked almost 7 miles so allow four and a half hours for a round. Overall, this was an excellent experience at a championship course and quality hotel.

I had played the course once before in March and was expecting a tough test. If you can keep the ball in play off the tee you can score. The bunkers were varied and had been battered by the recent heavy downpours, not sure there was anything they could have done to improve them in the time they had. All in all a great course and we all enjoyed it. Will be returning next year.

Everyone really enjoyed the golf course - some water to negotiate and plenty of bunkers, most of which I went in. Condition was good, particularly the greens, but some wear and tear on the fairways and some bunkers a bit firm. Round was slowish but it’s a good walk and we were unlucky to be behind a charity event one day.

Too many non-golfers on the course. Our first round was ok but still slow at just over 5 hours!! The second round was a joke. Because of slow groups ahead of us we managed to do 12 holes in 3.5 hours. We abandoned our round at this point. Theres no course marshall to oversee speed of play. We wouldnt recommend this course to anyone who can play golf to a reasonable standard.
Andy
✓10 May 2024
Despite the course being very busy we had a reasonable round of four and a half hours, it was however slow from 16 onwards otherwise it would have been under 4 hours. The course was very wet in places which is not surprising after the wet Spring we have had. Although it looked daunting at first it was not difficult for us at 19 and 22 handicaps and we very much enjoyed the round and would recommend, greens in particular were excellent.

Excellent greens. The best you could imagine considering it was March. Sadly there had been a lot of rain so it was very soggy on the fairways. Directions were to carry if possible which my husband did. Push trollies weee permitted so I used mine which made it really tough going. Halfway house at 5 & 12 is awesome. Great cakes, snacks & drinks. Proper loo too. Would love to play the course in dry conditions.

✓21 Mar 2024
The course should not have been open. Most of the fairways were absolutely sodden, and all of our group of 6 lost golf balls from good shots down the middle of the fairway. On some of the fairways that were particularly wet, where they hadn’t been able to cut the grass, the grass was longer than the rough at our course. We were told in advance that it was carry only , so we expected it to be a bit wet but it was unplayable. I know it’s been very wet, but do t just open the course to take money off people. Offer them an alternative date or a credit for an alternative trip. Both days there were people using push/pull trolleys that they had hired from the club even though the website still said carrry only. The condition of the bunkers was also aweful - they should have declared them GUR,. The greens had been scarified but were ok. Tees were fine.

Unfortunately, the course tees have been overused so we had to play off yellow tees, and some were quite far forward, so we didn't get the full experience this course had to offer. Considering the amount of rain they've had the greens were excellent if albeit a bit slow at times. Overall play on both days were very slow, so we spent a lot of time waiting on the tees. In fact on the second day we came finished at 9 holes as we'd been playing nearly two and half hours as a two ball. Finally, no fault of the green keepers, but I complained about the amount of divots not being replaced on fairways, greens need pitch mark repairs and footprints in the bunkers. I told the pro shop that they need to have a sheet given to guests and societies about the etiquette of golf, otherwise it ruins play for members and guests who do, do the right thing.

Enjoyed the coarse very much…. Very playable , even with the demon water encroaching on a few holes. Halfway house very good and well situated. We played on a Sunday/Monday, greens had not been cut on Sunday and were a little “woolly “. They were cut on Monday and this improved the surfaces. My party of four, all single figure golfers in their early sixties thoroughly enjoyed the whole 2 days and would not hesitate to stay and play here again.

We were a group of 8 ladies we played 3 rounds in 3 days, the first day we tee'd off at 2pm, it was an average time of about 4.15 for a 4 ball. The following day we tee'd off at 10.20, the time to complete the round was similar to the first day. On the last day we tee'd off at 12.20 and it was so slow, we literally waited on every shot all the way around. The round took us over 5 hours 20 minutes. The course itself is really lovely, lots of bunkers but we had players of all abilities and it wasnt too much of a problem. The greens are slow but I think this is to aid pace of play. The half way house is great, it is at the end of the 5th and 12th. You really must try the sausage rolls, home made and delicious! All in all, we thought the course was really enjoyable and I would definitely like to play it again.

Rounds took about four and a half hours, but it’s a long overall walk, so no issues with that. Bear in mind the average age of this group is close to 70, so the course was challenging, and hence the “hard” answer on course difficulty level, but it’s got some great holes, and everyone enjoyed it for the 18 holes on the Monday (Sunday’s round was curtailed to 12 holes, due to the severe thunderstorms etc - disappointing thing on that was that, in dangerous conditions, no klaxon was sounded and no staff came out to close the course, so I made the decision for my group, as organiser. One criticism of the course was the bunkers - not very well kept and a bit scruffy looking, with variable amounts of sand. I guess the secret is jut to stay out of them! Greens were in good condition.

✓22 May 2023
It is a great course and we've been going there for over 10 years; the only issue is the poor quality of the greens. Its been getting worse over the years and this year my group was complaining to me that we should find somewhere else. When I brought this up last year I was told its due to disease that is affecting other courses as well. Having played in many places, I can see they are all doing fine. The Oxfordshire greens are poor. Hopefully this will be sorted, although I am now going to look at other venues.

✓16 May 2023
We liked this course but we played on a very windy spring 2023 day. It is a biog course so those conditions made it a tough slog and we all want another go on a sunny day sometime soon. Due to a very wet Spring the course was a bit boggy and some of the fairways had quite bad surfaces due to buddy's and green keepers vehicles. The actual Greens were very good and I would guess a lot slower than they should be. We only played the course and had a coffee before so I can't really review all the facilities. I had previously stayed here with my wife for a Spa break and we were really impressed. The food was great in the restaurant but that was 3 years ago.

Great golf course. Still very wet in places, but considering recent weather, in good condition. Really tricky in places with large, undulating good greens. The course feels like it plays long when in fact it’s no longer than our course, but felt much longer. Very exposed to the elements, varied clothing probably necessary most of the year, can be very windy. Good quality buggies, nice pro shop, excellent half way house. We were a mixed group with a mixture of handicaps, we all found it difficult at times, but great fun. We would definitely return.

There were 12 of us in our group, all of which had positive things to say about the course. The greens were in fantastic condition, very quick and true, but very hard to get any grip when landing on them. The first round on Sunday took nearly 5 hours which was a slight shame, with waiting on the tee nearly every hole, with about a 30min wait on the 13th next to the halfway house. Monday was much quicker and fluent taking just over 4 hours. The fairways were in great condition, nearly all bunkers had a good amount of sound, and the views around the course, especially near the golf course, really are brilliant. And there were some brilliant holes to play, our favourites being the 5th, 8th, 13th and 17th. Our handicaps ranged from 5 to 26 and everyone had challenges and rewards for their shots. Again, one slight dampener was the prices down there. In the pro shop, it cost £3 for a bottle of water which was a bit of a shock. However was £1.50 at the halfway house. In general everything seemed a bit over priced but maybe that's just Oxford prices in general We would happily return to play this course again down the line and would recommend it to other parties.

Played her many times and its always enjoyable. Quite a long course , especially with the wind. greens as good as ever and given how busy it was, we went round in 4 hours. Different to many inland courses, the links principle makes you think differently about your game. You've got to play it at least once!

For a first time visit, the course was easy to follow wrt signage. Tees and greens were in excellent condition and fairways good. It is evident that in winter the course would be very wet, but thanks to the good weather it was very playable. The only downside to the course really was the very poor state of the 'many' bunkers.

I was playing on my own so was abit slow. The course was extremely wet and muddy so no buggies were aloud. Nobody's fault. Will definitely come again.

Fantastic course with magnificent water features particularly from hole 8 onwards. Tough holes but fair with wide fairways and not too penal rough. Loved playing this track!

The course at the Oxfordshire was everything we had been told about. Amazing views on most tee’s and fairways and greens in superb condition. A true test of golf but can not wait to go back and try again

Lovely course, greens good, could probably do with a few more trees round the course. Rough very tough, if you went in it you lost it.

The first round on the Sunday was so slow we didn't complete the round. There were 5 x 4 ball ladies in front and we gave up after 12 holes and play 6,7,8,9 again to finish, why wasn't there a marshaller on the course......? If we had continued it would have been a 6 hour round, it took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete 10 ,11 and 12, hence why we gave up. The next day it took us 3 hours 50 minutes for a 4 ball to complete the round and the course was really good and challenging. Need a course marshaller to try and sort out the slow play.

We had a great time playing at the Oxfordshire. Our group was a mixed gender group with handicaps ranging from 7 to 24 and suited us all. There are some very interesting holes particularly the 8th and 17th where you can make risk/reward choices. The pace of play was good and the overall condition was very good. We also enjoyed the practice facilities.

Great course. Need to be able to plot your way around especially by the lakes! Good test of golf. Pity the half way house was closed but this is due to shortage of staff.

The greens had just been worked on, on the web it had a reduced price for Sunday/Monday but with my other 23 OOBS members from West Kent golf club we still had to pay full price!!!!!

Course is a beast with the thick rough .. the course has more sand (bunker) then Blackpool beach. What views standing on the 1st &10th and playing back up to the club house on 9th. And that lake collects some balls.

Too hard for high handicappers. Good shots punished harshly. Greens were good. Biggest problem on a warm day was no halfway house. What a missed opportunity by the club to make a fortune selling snacks and drinks. That was the main complaint from our guys

We did have a slow round on day 1 but day 2 was much better. We liked the course. Particularly the variety of the hole design. The condition of the greens was very good. Some of the fairways were a bit marked. And the bunker sand was very hard. Unfortunately restrictions prevented us from using some of the course facilities.

The course was in very good condition. It is a great layout with some tough but fair holes. Par 4 holes are long, even off the yellows, so a good test. Greens were very true and in great nick. Becoming one of our favourite courses to play in UK for our annual two day trip. Well done Oxfordshire, you have a great course.

Use YGT for all of our golfing trips, but this time around we felt let down. We paid for a summer golf package, but due to COVID our dates were postponed until November, but rather than our deal being repriced to winter golf, we paid full summer prices for winter golf. Every bunker was waterlogged, due to the sun setting we only got 16 holes in Saturday and just about made it Sunday. Very slow play and no one on the course to speed things up. Have emailed YGT about this and had no response.

Understandably at this time of year the course was wet and boggy in places. However, given the conditions it was fine to play and the greens were good. However, I couldn't understand being given a tee time after 1pm when darkness falls at 4.50pm in late October. We teed off at 1.10pm and played the last 3 holes in the dark. Two groups behind us walked in having only completed 15 holes. This was the only disappointment and hopefully taken on board to ensure it doesn't happen to others.

Course was in reasonable condition aside from a few muddy areas which couldn't be helped. Annoying on the Saturday to have tee off delayed by 30 minutes because of members comp (playing a slow texas scramble) and lack of starter to get them off on time

A wonderful course that offers both an enjoyable and challenging golf experience. Some wonderful water holes and the 17th is great fun.

The greens were poor and generally the grass had not been cut. Over 3 days there was no evidence of green staff maintaining grass at all. There was some small activity in a couple of bunkers. The half way had no cups so you could not get a coffee and take it away. Generally I would rate the course condition as average.

It’s a great course - very playable for all levels (we were scratch, 8, 10 & 19 handicaps) and enjoyable.... A good layout, a great halfway hut (which is passed twice) and some really cool holes. The only slight disappointment were the greens - they weren’t ‘bad’ but they clearly just hadn’t been cut for a few days as were fluffy and a bit bobbly...they looked better than they were. We’d definitely go back at some point.

Nice course with some interesting holes, good challenge. Very open, so wind is the defence. Would not want to play it in the rain.

The course is one of the best in the SE and reminds me of the Faldo designed Chart Hills with many undulating mounds bordering the fairways and a large number of bunkers. The signature 8th offers a challenging drive and approach shot with a huge lake running along the right side of the fairway and in front of the green - ditto the challenging par 5 17th!!Despite the water our group ranging from handicaps 9-39 enjoyed the experience as the course offers sensible "bail-out" routes if you can't carry the water. Inevitably work was being done to the greens and fairways - some of which were patchy but every course has suffered after the drought of 2018!

Love the challenge of the golf course. The fairways were in good condition with plenty of grass, and watered. Greens deceptive, but good and slower than we are used to playing. Speed of play an issue, as we were are 2 ball following a society which took 4 and 3/4 hours. The second day was better as we played earlier. Starter and professional staff very helpful. Love the course.

Course was in great condition, weather helped by being kind to us. Course wasn’t at all busy which meant we got round at a fast pace. Would definitely think about playing the course again. Food after the round was excellent from the spike bar
