Found on the Venlaw Hill, Peebles Hydro is an iconic landmark which hosts beautiful views across the Tweed Valley. Built in the late 19th century and originally a centre for hydropathic treatments, the hotel offers a wide-variety of activities for all to enjoy.

It is a short 35-minute drive to Edinburgh with a number of championship golf courses in the surrounding area, not forgetting to visit the little town of Peebles, set on the idyllic River Tweed.

Accommodation at Peebles Hydro

Peebles Hydro features a classic décor finish with a lightly toned colour scheme. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, heating and a bathroom with toiletries. You can enjoy views of the Scottish Borders whilst having breakfast or dinner, where Head Chef Grant will serve you a taste of Scotland you simply don’t want to miss.

If you fancy keeping active during your stay at Peebles Hydro, the hotel has a gym and swimming pool – as well as a spa for deserved down time. As mentioned, there are a number of golf courses in the area to serve all abilities. Those willing to take on the rolling hills of Peebles, only need to travel six minutes to do so.

Located above the original Peebles Hydro swimming pool is the 1881 Distillery, home to Scotland's largest residential Gin School. Guests can enjoy three-hour-long distillery experiences which is a true Scottish Borders Experience. The London Spirits Competition awarded The 1881 Distillery gold for its subtly smoked Rafters Gin which was inspired by the hotel’s history and a fire it suffered in 1905. The Scottish gin brand also received silver for three gins, Hydro, Honours and Tiffin.
