Those fortunate enough to travel to SCHLOSS Roxburghe on either a golf break or golf tour will be astounded by the natural beauty of the estate. The accommodation fully justifies its position with 78 tastefully designed rooms and suites to choose from including rooms with the option of a balcony, fireplace and four-poster bed. With multiple public areas boasting open fire places, there is plenty of opportunity to sit back and relax and indulge in one of the many culinary offerings that are available, all inspired by Scotland’s abundance of fresh produce, meat, fish and game. Enjoy afternoon tea next to an open fire in the drawing room, a 3 course dinner in the new restaurant Charlie's, a whisky in Bar 1745 or a fine dining experience in Sunlaws.
In addition to the parkland golf course, the beautiful estate offers facilities for clay pigeon shooting, archery, falconry and trout or salmon fishing, while the lawn next to the hotel is the perfect place for a spot of summer croquet.

With the River Teviot flowing alongside, this picturesque track also has some teeth; at over 7,000 yards it is a course that is well-suited to those who hit the ball long and high, and also challenges visitors with Thomas' characteristically deep bunkers.
The course is relatively young, but has already entered the top 100 rankings in the United Kingdom, thanks to holes like number 14, ‘The Viaduct'. With an elevated tee perched high above the beautifully-mown fairway, this must surely be one of Scotland's most beautiful holes. The spectacular viaduct traverses the Teviot in the near distance, while the river hugs the left side, posing a genuine challenge to the intrepid golfer.
Ryder Cup hero Sam Torrance is a known fan of the Roxburghe, while Colin Montgomerie, Nick Faldo, and course record holder Sergio Garcia have also visited in recent times, so why not follow in the footsteps of the great?
The estate's soil is so bountiful that the head chef grows much of his own produce in the restaurant's garden.

A Memorable Stay for a Special Occasion
We stayed at the hotel to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday, and it was an unforgettable experience. The staff were incredibly attentive to our needs, making us feel truly valued throughout our stay. The facilities, especially the spa, were outstanding—clean, luxurious, and relaxing. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a special getaway. Thank you for making our celebration so memorable!

The room was very comfortable with all amenities overlooking the gardens. Staff were all very welcoming, polite and friendly and we're pleased to help. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds right next to the golf course and the spa was luxurious. I'll definitely be taking my wife there for a trip. Special thanks to the barmaid in the whisky and gin bar for a memorable evening.

Lovely young attentive staff but it would seem with very little training. Bat staff required a cheat sheet to make a very straightforward cocktail. Wrong wine brought to the table! Hotel an environment were superb.

Simply amazing. What a jewel in the Scottish Borders. The facilities on offer were exceptional in every way and from a value for money perspective, its one of the best high quality resorts I've stayed at in recent years. I'd happily pay more for what is on offer at the amazing hotel and spa. As for the golf course, beautiful and pristine are an understatement. It was a pleasure to play and although challenging, it was fair and immaculately presented. We'll definitely be making this an annual event.

Lovely hotel with excellent facilities. Staff were extremely efficient and helpful. Our group really enjoyed the stay at the hotel.

Beautiful hotel in gorgeous surroundings. Stunning room - wish there was a bath tub as well as a shower.
Room boiling hot and couldn’t work out how to open windows or if they did open at all.
Toiletries great, bed comfort superb.
Woken at 7am by men delivering wood in a truck right below our room over the front door.
Travelled on 3rd April - glorious weather but golf club wasn’t open “until end of April”. Paid summer rate so felt everything should be open.
We would have loved nothing more than to sit with a pint afterwards and get lunch outside sporting a great view of the course and other players. Such a shame.
There was nowhere to buy cold drinks to take with us onto the course - bearing in mind golf is a sport and the weather was very warm - this isn’t good.
Food prices were expensive £18 sandwich - came with a few crisps. Good quality but not a great choice - same menu for dinner in the evening in that bar.
The other restaurant was nice - food “ok” not amazing - which again for the price was disappointing.
All restaurant staff were lovely, kind and the most polite I’ve ever encountered.

This is our second stay at Roxburghe to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was an excellent break. The hotel, service, restaurant and golf course all deserve our 5 star rating.

This was a shot in the dark as we had never stayed here before and what a pleasant surprise it was. The hotel was a wonderful retreat away from the din of city life. The staff were very helpful and the room we had was very comfortable and clean. The food was good too. Lots of country house charm. I would certainly return here again.

Excellent short break only downside was the absence of spa facilities but that will be remedied by end of 2022. Golf course presented a stiff but enjoyable challenge of the white/blue tees.

Lovely hotel, nice rooms, excellent food but a bit soulless. Watch out for the discretionary charges added to your bill.

We have done many golf breaks all over the world and have to say this was one of the best. The hotel was excellent in all aspects can’t fault it but best of all is the restaurant the food is definitely 5 star and is a credit to the staff and chef’s.
We also enjoyed walking the grounds and maybe next time would have a go at the fishing and the clay pigeon shooting on site. All in all a fantastic hotel with excellent facilities and we will definitely be rebooking.

This is the first time my wife and I had stayed at the Schloss Roxburghe hotel and we will certainly be back. We stayed there with friends and have to admit that we were treated like Royalty by the staff. It was our Anniversary and because of this we received a free upgrade to our room. The room we were given was fantastic, although I did have a glance at our friends room and this was excellent as well. It is strange times we are in just now because of Covid 19 but we felt completely safe in the hotel and Clubhouse. The food for evening meal was fantastic, as was the service. The same can be said for the morning, breakfast was served promptly and was very good.
My wife and I hope to return there quite soon.
