At the end of the 19th century, King Leopold II decided to make the coastal area more attractive for British visitors by building a golf course. The result was Seymour Dunn's creation, which was officially inaugurated in 1903.

Royal Ostend Golf Club

Although the club is one of the oldest and most established in Belgium, its progression has not been without obstacles; the course and its clubhouse were totally destroyed during both world wars. During the 1990s, the course was revised by the highly regarded Martin Hawtree, and the result is that Royal Oostend is playing even better than ever.

This classic links skirts the North Sea coastline, and is more often than not buffeted by see breezes, but the challenge of negotiating the magnificent 6,125 yard links course makes it an essential part of a golf break in Belgium.
