Good facilities and good bar area and restaurant.

Staff were absolutely fantastic! Bar and restaurant very nice. Range of drinks very good, Guinness is excellent. Food was ok, breakfast was very nice. Rooms are very tired, they need updating! Spa also requires updating.

Room clean and comfortable, reception warm and inviting all staff very pleasant a and helpful. Pro shop was currently closing and only basic things available. However the hotel is currently looking after golf and leisure facilities and will shortly be employing a professional. And restocking. Meanwhile make sure your ok for basics - balls, tee pegs, gloves.

NICE SPACIOUS ROOM, VERY COMFORTABLE. EXCELLENT BREAKFAST. GOOD EVENING MEAL, ONLY US IN THE RESTAURANT, HOTEL CLEARLY NOT BUSY. GOOD SERVICE AT PRO'S SHOP, ORDERED A BUGGY FOR BOTH ROUNDS, NEED IT HERE, WOULD BE A STIFF WALK! OUR WIVES AS NON GOLFERS HAD 30 MINUTES SPA TREATMENT IN LIEU OF GOLF, ENJOYED! OVERALL, PLEASANT STAY, WILL DEFINITELY RETURN.

A beautiful building. There is easy parking, the restaurant offered a good choice with a three course Sunday lunch option that was included in our rate. The room was clean and comfortable. A large swimming pool is part of the spa and opens at 6.30. Perfect. Breakfast v good too. This place is a great find.

I was the organiser an lady on reception told me as such they had upgraded me to luxury suite it was shocking 2 single beds when 12 of our party had double beds room tiny telly on wall my 5y old granson has a bigger I pad the whole room was a let down old an tired

This was a delightful few days playing golf in the sunshine! The course wasn’t easy with lots of water and slopes to be considered. The hotel rooms were somewhat tired but had everything you needed. The food and staff were exceptional and couldn’t do enough for you…Thank you!

We had a great time the staff was very friendly and helpful Nicki in the bar looking after us all the restaurant staff were very friendly helpful and went out there way to make sure we got everything we wanted reception staff also brilliant in helping us with our visit the golf course was in very good condition even with the weather against them we only got to play 2 out the 3 rounds due to the weather but I would definitely go back again overall well worth the cost the only downside is it’s old building probably listed and not a problem maybe needs a little bit upgrade to rooms as some are better than others but in general very clean and tidy great venue well done all at shaw hall 💙

Lovely spacious rooms, very clean & comfortable. Food in both the bar & restaurant was very good & staff in both these areas were excellent. Not a huge buffet selection at breakfast would be one small complaint but otherwise there was plenty to choose from the set breakfast menu.

Disapointed with the hotel beds were so uncomfy bar was so small and exspensive not a patch on herons reach were we should if been going but booking was messed up was given this as an alternative would not go again

We had a pleasant stay and were well looked after by the staff. Food was really good but the rooms were rather tired.

The hotel/bar areas look very tired & old fashioned. Can’t fault the food or staff but if you are looking for something modern then this is not for you.

This is my third stay at Shaw Hill for golf. The course is challenging and has a few very difficult holes for high handicap golfers. The rooms that I stayed in were very basic but adequate for a overnight stay. There is a acute shortage of storage space for your toiletries in the bathrooms and not a great deal of draw space in the bedrooms. The restaurant food was good but the table served breakfast was not very hot which suggested a buffet run kitchen service.

12 of us went on a DB&B 2 rounds of golf trip. We were blessed with great weather, the course was in good condition and interesting with some quirky and tight holes. The hotel was great very friendly, the food was good. The bar bill was large even with the 10% discount!

Apart from a small miscommunication between reception and restaurant for meal booking, room was spacious beds good, slightly dated, plumbing was abnormally loud, it was comfortable enough. Food was decent and staff attentive

What makes a great golf break. Is it top quality course exceptional hotel or the whole experience 1 night 2 rounds very good course great lay out well designed staff fantastic during covid.played the big names but had so much fun here.if a group of mates wanted a value for money break I highly recommend Shaw hill

Room was pristine both bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast was very good.. The food was tasty and well cooked and service was first class We enjoyed dinner but service was extremely slow

Beautiful hotel lovely spacious room spotlessly clean generous modern bathroom. First class service and great food. There is however a huge 'but' the beds were terrible, hard and I suspect cheap mattresses. Would love to go again but couldn't risk another sleepless night.

The room we had was superb with a view over the golf course. Shaw Hill is not a chain hotel and the rooms I would guess are very much individual. The staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant was excellent and the service superb.

Difficult weather conditions for us. Course was in very good condition and well looked after.

Nice layout. Some challenging holes, and some very playable scoring holes. Course was in good condition, greens had been worked on so we’re not the best but still ok. Overall a very enjoyable and nice course

The greens were fast and in good condition. Some areas of the course particularly just off the fairway were brown and bare. But that’s probably due to hot weather and lack of rain rather than neglect.

First round tempo was fine however 2nd round frustratingly slow! Groups in front refusing to let through, lots of standing and waiting on every tee! Greens were fantastic!

Very pleased with Shaw Hill. The greens were superb, very true and not too quick. Enough variety of holes to be interesting and difficult. We were able to adjust tee times on both days with the pro shop and members there were extremely friendly and helpful. To be honest - could not have been better!

Course as always was in excellent condition but the round Friday was ruined for me when in our last 4ball 2 walking 2 in buggy the buggy wasn't charged they couldn't play I was fuming I booked this trip 12months ago they also had all morning to make sure buggys were charged I spent holes 4 to 9 on phone to pros shop then your golf travel so my round was alwful they eventually got a buggy over 1hour after are last tee which ruined there round as it was a competition it was shocking that no buggy having been booked 12months in advance wasn't ready ruined my day as organiser

Not an easy course! With lots of water and slopes to consider it was quite challenging, but having played it twice very enjoyable. The sunshine always helps when playing golf!

Course was great rough was brutal but we also understand the weather didn’t help but in general it was nice and definitely enjoyable the greens were nice credit to the team

A long course which was very wet due to recent heavy rain & therefore resulted in it being a bit of a slog for our group of five ladies. Machine for cleaning trollies & shoes after golf was not working which was unfortunate considering the mess our shoes & trolley wheels were in.

the golf was extremely enjoyable considering it was raining all day. The course was in excellent condition and hard for some of us but fair. overall the course was spot on.

Late tee of sunday so betime we go of was straight to dinner no time to change pokl shut at 4 so no use of them

The weather was an issue for us and the course was very soggy, however we got round and enjoyed our day. Very big shout out to Dean in the pro shop who was most helpful and obliging in the circumstances.

Very tricky course. One you need to think on. Greens were tough, but really enjoyed it.

What a fantastic golf course this was. Course is in immaculate condition and greens were absolutely superb. Young lad in golf shop was very helpful too. Definitely worth a visit to golfers of every level.

The course was in good condition. A few of the tees feel like they have been squeezed in but overall a good experience.

Bunkers and tees a bit scruffy, fairways and greens no complaint. One for the low to mid handicap players, greens not easy to hit,some holes required shape of shot and very undulating.

Fast greens not a long course but well designed a few uphill shots to greens over water pick your shots a good fun course

Course was in excellent condition both fairways and greens .The course was not crowded so we were not rushed on the second day we followed a group of local players who were playing at our pace and we had nobody behind So we had a lovely relaxed round We will certainly return. Excellent spa facilities we appreciated after the golf

A delightful course every hole different and interesting in it's own right, the course plays long and the water hazards need some forward planning. A very well maintained course but the greens were only average I would expect them to be a lot better later in the year. Friday afternoons round behind three social four balls was slow 5 hours plus. Saturdays round imeadeatly behind the members medal took less than 4 hours the average being more than eceptable.

The course was fine. It is undulating and as a senior citizen a buggy was a necessity. The greens were average, not very quick but generally ran true. The par 5's were demanding with water approx 150 yds.short of the green with a severe uphill finish on three of them.
