Shendish Manor is a fantastic golf hotel located just outside Hemel Hempstead, surrounded by the lush green belt of Hertfordshire’s countryside. The historic mansion house hotel sits at the heart of a stunning 160-acre parkland estate which includes a challenging par-70 golf course designed by Henry Cotton and Donald Steel.
Sitting less than an hour away from London, Shendish Manor Hotel & Golf Course is a haven for golfers looking to trade the hectic city scene for a peaceful country break. Take your pick of the elegant Victorian manor house or stylish modern wing of the hotel, before you set out to tee it up on the course.

The magnificent parkland estate is the perfect setting for the golf course, which was constructed in accordance with USGA principles. The woodland copses and natural undulations of the local terrain help to create a beautiful and challenging golfing landscape, and the par-70 layout is a friendly test for golfers of all standards.
Shendish Manor offers golfers a relatively gentle opening, with some birdie opportunities in the first six holes, but the closing stretch, spanning the more undulating ground, represents more of a challenge. The free-draining soil results in excellent year round conditioning, and makes Shendish Manor an outstanding option for a golf break.

The accommodation at the lovely Shendish Manor is a combination of the superbly restored original Manor House, where guests will find 18 individually designed, decorated and furnished rooms and suites, all packed with character.
In 2007, Shendish Manor unveiled a brand new wing that is home to 57 spacious and modern bedrooms which are ideal for the needs of golfers. Although the rooms are new, they retain some stylistic features in keeping with the surrounding Victorian manor house, combined with all the most welcome modern conveniences.
In the hotel's Orangery Restaurant, guests will enjoy an extensive buffet breakfast, while the lunch and dinner menus are packed with traditional bistro favourites.

Rooms were large and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was ok. Staff were very friendly and did a good job. Hotel was well designed with a nice interior and felt very welcoming, considering the main effort goes into weddings.

some greens difficult due to the slopes and contours. Putting skills highly required. Some fairways also had slopes so ball ran sprung sideways on the fairly dry. But otherwise an enjoyable which I and my brother will return to in the future. Can recommend the course and hotel for a good budget golf weekend.

The course is short but challenging, particularly the back nine. The tees were in poor condition with lots of bare areas and not very level. Our round on the Monday morning was very slow. Apparently the seniors have a block booked time from 8:00 on two starting tees. The round took well over 5 hours with often 2 or 3 groups waiting on the tee.

The course was playing much longer than usual as fairways had not been cut and lots of acorns on course. Also very busy so quite slow.

Nice course, fairly short which made a nice change meaning we had a few chances to drive some greens on the short par 4s, the greens were very good and undulating.

Imaginative course and very short. Greens were in fab nick and very difficult to read in a good way. Great course for the shorter hitters or higher handicappers but also hard on the greens for the lower handicappers. First 2 days the play was good. Very slow on Saturday and quit after 9 due to the waiting time on each tee box.

A very short course . Bunkers very tatty. Fairways not to bad. Tees were diabolical. Greens undulating but very slow. Our first round was booked for 12.04 , didn’t get off until 12.35!! Then took 5 hours. Second round was booked for 10.08 but we were still waiting at 10.45 !!! Then noticed the three ball in front of us were sharing TWO sets of golf clubs !!! It was at this point having already experienced five hours the day before we left the course and went and paid for another. ( £55 per person x14) . The club house at this point was also closed for maintenance, so We could not voice our thoughts. I think out of gratitude we should receive at LEAST the money back for above. Look forward to yours and their Thoughts and comments. Kind regards Nigel Mitchell Book ref .. UK065115 Conf. Ref. Sm 102418
