The magnificent parkland estate is the perfect setting for the golf course, which was constructed in accordance with USGA principles. The woodland copses and natural undulations of the local terrain help to create a beautiful and challenging golfing landscape, and the par-70 layout is a friendly test for golfers of all standards.
Shendish Manor offers golfers a relatively gentle opening, with some birdie opportunities in the first six holes, but the closing stretch, spanning the more undulating ground, represents more of a challenge. The free-draining soil results in excellent year round conditioning, and makes Shendish Manor an outstanding option for a golf break.

In 2007, Shendish Manor unveiled a brand new wing that is home to 57 spacious and modern bedrooms which are ideal for the needs of golfers. Although the rooms are new, they retain some stylistic features in keeping with the surrounding Victorian manor house, combined with all the most welcome modern conveniences.
In the hotel's Orangery Restaurant, guests will enjoy an extensive buffet breakfast, while the lunch and dinner menus are packed with traditional bistro favourites.

The hotel element of this golf resort is good. The rooms are a very reasonable size, the restaurant provided a very substantial breakfast and the evening meal was excellent value for money. One minor criticism is that the only seating area for guests is limited and occupies the reception area. Overall, definitely a good 8/10.

This is a very nice hotel. All the staff we very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing!! For the cost it is definitely worth it. Only slight annoyance was the shower head didn't work properly meaning you had to hold it when showering. We were only there 2 nights and if we had said something to the hotel staff I am pretty sure they would have happily moved us to another room. There was lots of staff on hand in the restaurant and all of them were friendly and helpful.

I have been on annual golf trips now for 15 years to various locations and have never been so well looked after. The staff in the golf club went far above and beyond to ensure our group enjoyed our stay and we will 100% be going back. Karen, Jack and Abenher were exceptional and a credit to the venue. Rooms were good, food was excellent. Hotel in general was great and had some nice grounds to explore if you wanted to go for a wander. I cant recommend Shendish Manor enough, one of the best breaks i've ever been on. A couple of things you could pick holes in but the exceptional service meant that they were insignificant. No driving range but didn't really matter, other practice areas are more than enough.

some greens difficult due to the slopes and contours. Putting skills highly required. Some fairways also had slopes so ball ran sprung sideways on the fairly dry. But otherwise an enjoyable which I and my brother will return to in the future. Can recommend the course and hotel for a good budget golf weekend.

✓9 Oct 2025
The course is short but challenging, particularly the back nine. The tees were in poor condition with lots of bare areas and not very level. Our round on the Monday morning was very slow. Apparently the seniors have a block booked time from 8:00 on two starting tees. The round took well over 5 hours with often 2 or 3 groups waiting on the tee.
Elaine

Nice course, fairly short which made a nice change meaning we had a few chances to drive some greens on the short par 4s, the greens were very good and undulating.
Jamie
✓8 Jun 2025
Imaginative course and very short. Greens were in fab nick and very difficult to read in a good way. Great course for the shorter hitters or higher handicappers but also hard on the greens for the lower handicappers. First 2 days the play was good. Very slow on Saturday and quit after 9 due to the waiting time on each tee box.
Nigel
✓3 Jun 2025
A very short course . Bunkers very tatty. Fairways not to bad. Tees were diabolical. Greens undulating but very slow. Our first round was booked for 12.04 , didn’t get off until 12.35!! Then took 5 hours. Second round was booked for 10.08 but we were still waiting at 10.45 !!! Then noticed the three ball in front of us were sharing TWO sets of golf clubs !!! It was at this point having already experienced five hours the day before we left the course and went and paid for another. ( £55 per person x14) . The club house at this point was also closed for maintenance, so We could not voice our thoughts. I think out of gratitude we should receive at LEAST the money back for above. Look forward to yours and their Thoughts and comments. Kind regards Nigel Mitchell Book ref .. UK065115 Conf. Ref. Sm 102418

Nuce course that has been well maintained. Some narrow holes which can be a bit daunting and a few holes parallel to one another going opposite directions so you need to be aware of other people hitting toward you. Greens were well looked after and some were challenging. Lots of tree's, not any views.
sean
✓13 Nov 2024
Our first round on the Sunday we were behind a club Seniors competition and the pace was slow, but our round on the money was ok. for this time of year i thought the course was in great condition and the greens were still running quite quick. The lady in the clubhouse bar was very friendly and helpful
Richard
✓12 Oct 2024
Unfortunately we could not use the buggies we had booked due to the weather, but front 9 was fairly easy then the back 9 hits you with more of a challenge.
David
✓23 Sep 2024
Unfortunately we chose the week that the course was under major maintenance meaning the greens were not as good as they could be. Other than that, being one of the shorter courses, it was fine. Not a course I would recommend for low handicappers, but a nice challenge for those on the other end of the scale.
Denis

James
✓19 Aug 2024

Martin
✓30 Jul 2024
1st 6 holes are pretty straightforward but the remaining holes much more challenging. Course is a bit tight in the middle order and you only need few clowns to not shout/warn you and there could easily hit someone with your ball. This did not detract from a lovely course and enjoyable two games though

A short course, but new WHI h cap system will mean less shots than you might get elsewhere. Greens are a major protection with very trouble some undulations. Some v good holes. Back 9 more testing than the front. Our group will definitely return at some point.
Les
✓16 Apr 2024
Course was good. Very interesting and despite being short from a yardage perspective the undulating and narrow fairways caused enough of a challenge to make the course very enjoyable. The greens were long , slow and bobbly so that did detract slightly from the overall experience however that was to be expected with the recent rainfall.
Tony

✓18 Aug 2022
The course was in poor condition, the extreme heat had dried out many courses. But I sad to report that the general lack of course maintenance with uneven and bare tees, bumpy greens and poor bunkers reduced playability that I would return visit

Daniel
✓28 Jun 2022
Looking at the yardage and the course overview I thought this was going to be a fairly easy course. After the first few holes it becomes more challenging with a lot of trees, thick rough and slopes on the majority of the holes. Overall it is a very well maintained course and an enjoyable one to play on. The greens were in very good condition.

✓4 May 2022
Don't be fooled by the shortness of the earlier holes. They are not as easy as they appear. (At least, they weren't for us.) The course marshal on duty on Sunday was good fun and gave us advice about the course which would have been great if we had remembered. The greens still had time marks in places but the maintenance has to be done sometime and it didn't change the result for us. Overall, a nice course with plenty of challenges. Most of us were mid handicappers around 18 but our one good golfer who plays off 4 managed to play to his handicap so it looks like this course is a fair test. We all enjoyed our visit and will be back in a few year's time.
Lee
✓12 Apr 2022
The course was in great condition and has some really interesting holes. A really enjoyable course with enough challenges for mid handicappers like ourselves. Quite short so may not be a challenge for the big hitters but saying that we had a couple of good drivers who still found enough trouble to make it tricky. Really enjoyable course. Large chipping area and putting green. No driving range but there was one 5 minutes down the road if you needed it. Staff were great and the members that were out on the course whilst we were playing were very friendly and welcoming.

Although not championship standard the course was quite well kept with good greens and bunkers and well trimmed fairways (lots of daisies and would benefit from weed treatment) Lots of good mature trees in a nice country park setting. Certainly worth a second visit.

✓24 Oct 2021
Very disappointed to find when we got to the golf club that no buggies were available. I only booked this trip after being told by golf travel that they had checked if buggies were available. I was not advised that buggies had to booked direct. We were eventually able to play one hour later than our booked tee time so obviously not happy about that as we didn’t have long after playing until our dinner reservation.

Derek
✓18 Jul 2021
I only gave 3 stars for facilities. There was only one staff at the golf reception. Their job was to receive players, get a buggy if one was wanted. Serve behind the bar for drinks and food. We had to wait longer times due to societies requirements
Gill
✓29 Oct 2020
To be honest l enjoyed the course but condition of it was determined by the wet weather and l think not enough staff due to dare l say Covid. Bunkers awful, not raked at all, tee boxes left so grass very high and according to the men of our party some on a slope. The greens were very good, very difficult to read so a test and a challenge, which we enjoyed. Very scenic, some great holes, not a long course but there was some walking to do between holes and a little bit hilly.

The golf was very good and I totally enjoyed it but the only issue we had was the buggies that were supposed to be booked for us but the staff were adamant that they hadn’t been and they reckon that this is a reoccurring problem when you book with YGT
Kenneth

The course was in good condition for the time of year, the greens were fast as were the fairways, the rough was ROUGH if you went into it you lost it, but that is what it is for
Luke
✓9 Apr 2019
Gold course was adequate. It was quite a short course. There were no water features which i felt would have been a nice addition. The greens had been spiked with a huge amount of top dress which made putting simply impossible. Clearly this is an annual event in terms of up keep of the greens so we were just unlucky with our timings but the golf course should have informed YGT and that information passed onto ourselves or a discount offered as a result. Golf staff extremely welcoming and friendly.
David
✓30 Oct 2018
although a short course, cross falls on fairways are challenging and greens difficult to read
