1 Night, 2 Rounds
- 1 Night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at Shrigley Hall Hotel
- 2 Rounds at Shrigley Hall Golf Club
1 Night, 2 Rounds
Tucked on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Shrigley Hall Hotel is a 4-star Georgian country house that works brilliantly for golf groups who want a proper course, comfortable rooms and somewhere to unwind afterwards. You're close enough to Manchester and the motorway network for an easy run in, but far enough into the countryside to feel like you've escaped for the weekend.
Golf is the headline act. The 18-hole Donald Steel layout threads through mature woodland and open parkland, so you'll need a bit more than "driver and hope". Pick sensible targets, shape a few shots and you'll score, but stray offline and the trees will have their say.
Off the course, there's plenty to keep everyone happy. The BAZAAR Spa is a big draw, with an outdoor infinity pool, sauna, steam room, serenity pool and whirlpool spa. Spa access must be pre-booked and a supplement applies, with entry for guests aged 16 and over. There's also a gym in the Golf Lodge for guests aged 18 and over. The Courtyard Bar is the natural spot for a post-round drink with your group.
Who is this for?
Golfers looking for a quality parkland test in a country house setting, groups wanting a mix of golf and spa facilities, and anyone seeking easy access to both championship golf and the Peak District.
Who is it best for?
Mid-handicappers who enjoy strategic, tree-lined parkland golf, societies wanting a well-rounded package with strong off-course amenities and couples combining golf with spa breaks in a scenic location.
* Where applicable, the relevant promotions will be applied during the booking process. T&Cs may apply.

2 Nights, 3 Rounds
In typical Donald Steel fashion man made water hazards on the course are scarce and instead he uses the natural layout of the land to create a challenge for golfers. The narrow fairways and small green make are designed to challenge not only a player’s physical ability but also their course management capabilities as a lack of length has been substituted for tricky greens and minimal bail out areas off the tee. However, the lack of length means that the course is manageable for golfers of all handicaps meaning that enjoyment for your whole group is guaranteed.
In the past, Steel has been commissioned to advise on alterations to every course currently on the Open Championship rotation, which is a testament to his reputation within the design industry. The beautiful course weaves its way through the glorious landscape and gifts players with some incredible vantage points from which the stunning scenery can be observed.
Signature hole: par 3, 8th hole
The par 3, 8th hole is the renowned as Shrigley Hall’s signature hole and you will not disagree with this upon playing the course. The short par 3 measures in at 158 yards from the white tees and plays slightly downhill. The green is set back amongst the beautiful trees that inhabit the peak district meaning accuracy is imperative if you want a chance of making birdie here. The putting surface also has another defence, as well as trees flanking it there is also a small water hazard in front so club selection is key when looking to find the green on this short but testing par 3.

Shrigley Hall's 154 bedrooms are all fitted and furnished to a high standard, ensuring a comfortable stay whether you're here for golf, leisure or a combination of both. The range of room types means there's something to suit different group sizes and budgets, from standard doubles through to more spacious options for those wanting a bit more room to spread out. The hotel has been recognised by local tourist authorities as one of the area's top properties, which speaks to the consistency of service and quality you can expect throughout your stay.
The location works particularly well for golfers. You're close enough to Manchester and the motorway network to make arrival and departure straightforward, but far enough into the Cheshire countryside to feel like you've properly escaped. That balance makes Shrigley Hall a practical choice for short breaks, long weekends or even midweek golf trips when you want quality golf without spending half the day in the car.
For non-golfers or those looking to unwind after their round, the BAZAAR Spa is the main draw. The outdoor infinity pool is a standout feature, particularly if you're visiting in warmer months, while the sauna, steam room, serenity pool and whirlpool spa cover all the usual recovery bases. There are treatment rooms if you want to book something more specific, and the spa café provides a relaxed spot for a bite or a coffee. Bear in mind that spa access needs to be pre-booked and carries a supplement, with entry limited to guests aged 16 and over. The hotel also runs a fully equipped gym in the Golf Lodge, available to guests aged 18 and over, so you can keep up your fitness routine if that's part of your usual schedule.
You've got on-site dining for easy evenings after your round, plus the Courtyard Bar for a relaxed post-golf drink without needing to head out. The hotel's proximity to the Peak District also means you're well placed for exploring if you have a rest day built into your trip. Market towns, walking trails and scenic drives are all within easy reach, which adds another dimension to a golf break here, particularly if you're travelling with non-golfers or simply want to mix things up between rounds.

It was OK staff were excellent in hotel and the golf club house. Buggies were a little expensive twice as much as previous visit 2 yrs ago were £20 now £40. Paths on the course very unmaintained like driving off road. Quality of food good especially breakfast. Drinks very expensive £8.50 for a pint of larger.

Staff was horrendous and very grumpy, everything felt like it was too much trouble for them to do, one of the gentlemen who went with us on the trip had an accident and broke his leg and all the hotel was concerned with was getting him to sign a waiver form to exclude them from blame! No first aid or medic came to assist us and was just left on our own! Evening meal was rubbish, we asked if we could pay extra and upgrade our meals and was told a firm NO, Hotel part of the trip was awful and will not be going again

Everything was excellent. Only negative is the hotel could do with updating, but at the price we paid no complaints

Hotel looked tired and dated. The window blinds in the bathroom didn’t cover the entire window area, and were broken. The bathroom was in need of an update. One of the bars closed and wouldn’t serve anyone, and pointed guests to another bar, which wasn’t open for another 10 minutes.

We bring a young man with a brain injury, he loved his time there. Good course, well maintained and brilliant staff. George in the clubhouse in particular deserves a mention.

We played two rounds at Shrigley. On the 2nd day we were behind a group of about 60. The last group in the 60, were a 3 ball, who lost at least 2 holes on the group in front. We phoned the pro shop, who said they would send someone out, and didn’t. By the end of the round, our buggy said we were 1 hour behind. Not much fun when we wanted to finish the round and travel home

Course was good but held up on numerous holes because of society golf ahead of us, i haven’t received the dozen golf balls included in the deal so can you send them out please
July is the Peak District's hottest month with the temperature averaging 16 degrees so this is the best time to play if you are looking for some warm weather golf
No you do not need to produce a handicap certificate.
