Arguably the top golf break destination in the South West of England, St Mellion Estate boasts two golf courses, one of which has hosted the European Tour, making it one of the finest 36-hole venues in the UK. The 4* resort oozes luxury from the moment you arrive, step out of the lavish bedrooms and experience the famous Elemis Spa or award-winning An Boesti Restaurant.

Golf Courses at St Mellion Estate
St Mellion is arguably the premier golfing destination in the South-West, boasting two championship courses, and has welcomed the European Tour's elite on no less than six occasions for the Benson and Hedges International.
Nicklaus Course
Opened in 1987, the Nicklaus Course at St Mellion was the Golden Bear's first project in the UK, and to this day Jack rates it as one of his best creations. The £2.5 million investment now complete was overseen by the Nicklaus design team.
From the championship tee markers the course measures 7,019 yards and is a thorough examination, but there are tees to suit golfers of all abilities. The Nicklaus is typical of its designer's architectural ethos, with a premium being placed on finding the correct position from the elevated tees in order to attack the flags. Inaccuracy will be punished severely by the strategically positioned bunkers and water hazards around this South-Western gem.
Did you know? Jack Nicklaus speaks highly of his design, going as far as to say St Mellion is 'potentially the finest golf course in Europe'.
Formerly known as the Old Course, St Mellion's Kernow is often in the shadow of Jack Nicklaus' creation next door, but it is a fine championship layout in its own right. Though not particularly long by modern standards - the Kernow measures 5,782 yards - there is no shortage of challenge and intrigue.
A major face-lift has seen the addition of new lakes and bunkers, plus some totally rebuilt putting surfaces. Spectacular scenery surrounds the course, whose highlights include the short 12th, where the green is guarded closely by water, and the memorable par-4 closing hole which demands two excellent strikes.

Excellent golf break. Courses were both excellent. Accommodation and food were really good and staff were friendly and helpful.

All facilities were in the hotel including an excellent spa.

Very enjoyable stay for our return visit, all personnel were very welcoming, attentive, and clear communicators.

Generally the hotel was very nice. The bathroom could do with being updated. It seemed it was 'built' with a disabled people in 'mind'. Also the bathroom did not have a lot of shelf space. The Steam room in the Spa needs updating.

We stayed from the red August for 2 nights. The hotel and staff were lovely. Very helpful.
Access to your room was very easy via the multiple entry points from the car park. Very handy if you wanted to keep your clubs in your room.
The food was great and the staff engaging, especially the maitre d’ who so professional and thoughtful.
Thank you.

Very poor, tired dated hotel. Staff unfriendly. Beds so uncomfortable. Worst breakfast we have had using ygt. Would not recommend to anyone.
8 / 10
Hotel rooms very comfortable
Pro shop staff very helpful
Food in the evening very nice
Just breakfast not very good run out of food at 9.10 shuts at 10.00 still did not replenish it so very disappointing
6 / 10
Generally ok although room very basic and the little things that matter were missing: shampoo and shower gel bottles empty, minimal coffee and no normal tea bags in room. Beds were very hard to sleep on.
8 / 10
Really pleasant stay made all the better by some excellent staff - thanks
10 / 10
Fabulous staff
8 / 10
Reception excellent. Room fine, bit cold but nothing the air con couldn’t rectify. Nice big bath and simple shower, plenty powerful enough. Wonderful view of the 18th
Breakfast marginally chaotic, no butter - it’s on the way, no scrambled eggs - they are on the way and a desperately slow toaster but good coffee
Dinner was actually very good as was the service. My only complaint was, as the Organiser, they came after me for payment of outstanding extras - didn’t realise I had to do their job!
8 / 10
We have visited the resort previously and knew what to expect.
It met our expectations.
8 / 10
We found all staff very friendly & helpful in both hotel & golf shop. Rooms were well furnished & bed very comfortable. Shame not to have a fridge in room but coffee/tea making well stocked.
We all enjoyed our meals, the dishes at dinner were beautifully presented & delicious.
Shout out to the delightful Emily our waitress on the first night who was extremely good so friendly & helpful.
2 / 10
What a dump!! The room was absolutely filthy - the shower didn't work without scalding ourselves, twin beds not a double, the bathroom was disgraceful. The food (which was part of the "deal") was atrocious. We paid for 2 nights (left after one), paid for two breakfasts (didn't have any), paid for 2 evening meals (had one and then only two courses having sent back the first two courses), only played the Kernow course and didn't play the Nicklaus at all. We checked in at 1.30 on Tuesday and left at 6.30 the following morning. What an absolute rip-off and YGT need to take a good look at yourselves for advertising this disgraceful "resort" as a go to golfing experience. We will be seeking a refund.
10 / 10
Fantastic trip to St Mellion, hotel was wonderful, however the bar was poorly stocked and lacked any type of atmosphere in the evenings.
10 / 10
The 3 days of golf here were fantaitic for our small group. Would recommend without doubt.
8 / 10
Beds uncomfortable , TV a little small but otherwise fine
10 / 10
Everything was excellent, however, I received an email advising me about a bill I had to settle before I left. The bill was in excess of £1700. I was shocked at this amount and I queried the bill at reception. After about 20 minutes waiting, the lady came back and the bill was revised to £1100. No explanation nor an apology was given what happened. As I was about to tee off, I could not wait for a reason and had to leave. Would appreciate an reason as if I did not query the bill, I would have charged my group a lot of money for no reason.
8 / 10
We had a very enjoyable one night stay and two rounds of golf. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the hotel as all you will need for an enjoyable stay.
6 / 10
Room door didn't open, had to get maintainance 3 times to fix.
Evening dinner very good , paid £5 for 6 very very small bread rolls.
Breakfast , very small choice of fruit , fried stuffs dry and not replenished very quickly .juices run and toaster painfully slow.
8 / 10
No real complaints about anything. The staff, particularly Jess, were really nice. Made so much effort.
Bar was nice, food was much better than I expected. Spa great, nice and clean and well kept.
Rooms were dated - could do with modernising, adding a fridge perhaps.
8 / 10
Although looks a bit dated I areas, couldn't fault anything at all. Staff friendly and helpful, food was amazing.
4 / 10
Accommodation was very run down. Changing rooms were poor condition and men’s hand dryer didn’t work and was totally rusty. 4 of us eat lunch before our round - first meal came out 20 mins earlier than other 3 and last one was wrong order. Dinner took 2.5hrs in total with starters taking 1hr to come out. Complete joke. Everyone complaining. Shower in room was not very hot and went cold and hot both times. All buildings run down with what appears to be no maintenance spent on them. Hired set of clubs and first round the driver head was rattling and second round we hired it’ll the head came off completely on the second tee and obviously couldn’t be used. Very disappointing overall and did not get value for money.
10 / 10
The hotel, leisure facilities and restaurant were first class.
The staff were friendly and efficient.
Overall a great break, shame about the weather, but this is England.

A really good stay. We came back after a more than disappointing first stay just after Covid due to getting a discounted rate. The food was excellent and the bar was great afterwards. It was busy with other groups of golfers and the bar stayed open till late. The rooms were good with everything you need for a weekend away.
8 / 10
Signature rooms are very basic with minimal extras and in need of upgrading. Chairs look impressive but are upright and not comfortable. Televisions are small and need upgrading. Balconies are tired which would benefit from cleaning and oiling. Restaurant is tasteful although the Bistro room is basic and looking tired. Leisure facilities especially the changing rooms and pools are in excellent condition.

The hotel and room were satisfactory. We upgraded our room to a Signature room but it had limited resources. No fridge, small kettle for tea and coffee making, no glass or cup in the bathroom. It seems everything could have been removed due to Covid, but nothing put back.

It was club championship weekend Sat round was over 5 hours
We were not finished in time for our scheduled restaurant slot and then staff made us feel like we were an inconvenience.
Despite the club house being fairly empty on Sunday afternoon we could not all order food when we finished and food that was provided was sun standard and over priced
8 / 10
Great place to go,both golf courses were in great condition.
The staff at st Mellion were fantastic nothing was too much for them
8 / 10
Ideally located hotel in a lovely part of the country.
8 / 10
The surroundings are lovely. The hotel is nice. Our room sadly overlooked the car park. If you can get a room overlooking the 18th green. I’m guessing they’re more airy. Room was ok but nothing special. Might need some upgrading.

all relatively good bathroom is a bit tired
8 / 10
Stayed before in the bungalows but this time in the Turret Lodges, not ideal for all male groups as one twin bed room and one bunk bedded room obviously designed for children.
8 / 10
Staff friendly helpful throughout. Accommodation comfortable. Package dinner menu same for both nights which was disappointing
10 / 10
We booked our break through Your Golf Travel with James who sorted everything out for us. He was great from start to finish and even after us having to rebook for the past 2 years it was worth the wait. The staff at St Mellion were all brilliant, waiters, waitresses, spa team and of course golf shop team. Would definitely recommend booking through your golf travel if ever you want to find somewhere to go for a break! Thanks again to you all and will be speaking to James again soon when we book our next break.

Great location, Nicholas course fantastic only issue was perhaps the greens which had recently been treated.
10 / 10
Clean and comfortable rooms. Good food. Fantastic helpful staff including the pro shop staff (the staff clinched it for us ladies)
6 / 10
Hotel was tired looking. Needs a tidy up to be a 4 star. Stagg were friendly but refused to show the rugby international for about 50 people. Put a dampened in what was a good trip.
10 / 10
great value for money, was very cheap for the package we got
8 / 10
Hotel was under staffed especially the bars and restaurant but all the Staff were very polite, considering there were big groups of golfers the restaurant staff and manager made sure we was looked after.
Food quality & choices was very good.
10 / 10
The food was fantastic and very well organised.
8 / 10
The one thing that let the scores down is the general apathy of the staff. I felt there was little to no interaction from the reception or restaurant staff,
Another major problem was lacking of seating in
the bar .Two of our party had to stand for the whole of the evening . This certainly impacted my scores.
10 / 10
10 / 10
Very good room, excellent food, if there was a deficiency it was with the management of the golf bar - probably due to inexperienced staff ie beer ran out one day !!!, mistakes with drinks, long delays.
10 / 10
Great hotel, good food, well worth a visit
10 / 10
Great accommodation very roomy clean if a bit tired, friendly staff and good food, remember to take a torch for the walk back to the cottages as no lights whatsoever.
8 / 10
6 / 10
Reception modern, staff friendly, dinner very good, however the corridors leading to bedrooms are shabby, the bedrooms are tired and our bathroom needed a compete overhaul. It’s a very ‘blokey’ place catering for huge Societies and not a place for couples.
8 / 10
4 / 10
Real disappointment. The staff are great but not enough of them. The rooms are 2 come 3 star, not 4 star. The corridor carpets tired. Long waits for food and drink. Breakfast buffet is a farce. Big societies so lack of food, and very cramped area to serve yourself. The cold buffet should be switched round. Think st mellion has decided to focus on big societies and low standards. Shame
10 / 10
Amazing room with balcony overlooking the championship 18th green. Super clean and tidy and comfortable. Pillows a bit cheap and thin bring your own.
8 / 10
Lovely room, felt slightly better than average but it was a superior room with a balcony overlooking the 18th green.
Evening meals were absolutely fantastic as was the service but breakfast was average at best.
Bar was nice although could have done with more staff on as was often slow.
8 / 10
Only 4 stars for the hotel / Room as it needs a revamp, but it was absolutely spotless
8 / 10
The bedroom as clean, large and well facilitated. The shower was amazing. Disappointed no bottle water
6 / 10
Hotel is tired, particularly the bathroom, which was tired, grout missing on floor tiles, and being a wetroom, this means the tiles are lifting off the floor, and the wooden bathroom door and door frame mouldy and rotting.
Uncomfortable Small Single Bed in Twin rooms (e.g. Celtic Manor or Belfry offer oversized single or double beds).
Bar undermanned (possible staffing issues?) so often had to wait to be served.
Staff were polite and friendly, however, a couple had mentioned they didn’t enjoy working at St Mellion and were looking for (or had obtained) alternative employment - which to me, reflects the poor standard of St Mellion and the Management team.
Pool and Sauna was open, but steam room, hot tub and spa were closed (defective???).
Breakfast was average to poor (cheap quality sausages and bacon), lots of flies around the cereal, pastries and croissants area (no obvious blue zappy bug lights).
Evening meals were to a good (bot great) standard but the menu was basic with 4 choices of starter/main/desert, but only 1 of these which was suitable for Vegetarians (not that I am, i’m just merely sharing my observation).
Appreciate that Cornwall is a pain to get to (4-5hrs from London) but with so many alternate venues in the UK, there was nothing ‘special’ to warrant a return to the resort.
8 / 10
Rims was a little tired and would have benefited from a redecorate / refurb.
All the staff were professional, friendly and very efficient.
Bar was light, bright and welcoming
Food I. The restaurant was very good, breakfast was a bit “confused” - mainly due to layout and 2 or 3 big groups at once.
6 / 10
On arrival, after a 5 hour drive, we were informed that the restaurant was fully booked so we could not have breakfast, we asked to have coffee at the bar whilst waiting for out tee time and were told we couldn't do this either, rather odd. We stayed in two lodges, which were sufficient for our needs, but very very dated. This hotel as a whole needs a few quid spent on it to bring it up to the 4* it claims to be. Staff very friendly, but not enough of them.
2 / 10
The staff were very good and friendly. The food was very good so where the rooms.we had an excellent weekend
6 / 10
Booked for many years with YGT but unfortunately dont think I will book again, no food at restaurant and pub we got taken to wasn't that accommodating.
Not only that been promised free balls for our group for the last 2 years and not had any, for the amount we spend its a little disappointing.
4 / 10
Very disappointed. Still waiting to hear the outcome of our complaints.
Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna - all out of action! One of the main reasons we stayed here.
Weren’t allowed to eat on site - another reason we booked to stay here.
Understaffed all three days so the queues at the bar/lunch cafe were massive and the service was cold and miserable
The lady on reception on our first day was abrupt and rude.
Such a shame because it was a key part of our trip. The rooms were also damp and full of insects
6 / 10
Very disappointing!! We were informed on checking in that the hotel would not be serving dinner during our stay - even although we had paid for a golf, B&B and dinner package.
We were handed a list of local restaurants and taxi numbers and had to sort things out ourselves!! As this situation had been ongoing for a few weeks YGT should have contacted us to inform us.
8 / 10
The hotel and staff were very good. However there is a disappointment in that this was a golf, DINNER, bed and breakfast deal and upon checking in at 7pm after a hot round of golf, I was told that there was dinner and someone from Your Golf Travel should have already informed me. So at present, I've paid for dinner and not had any, and had to fork out extra expense for dinner in the evening and the public transport to get to it, and thus far no one from YGT has replied to my email or tweet.
8 / 10
Stopped in lodge's great location but real could do with a upgrade but clean would and will return
10 / 10
Well where do I start 🤷🏻♂️
Not enough staff apparently so both evening meals we were loaded into a 16 seater bus & taken to local pub 10 minutes away. Service there was good. ST Mellion offered us £100 per table, anything over that we had to pay ourselves. Service at ST Mellion was very poor. Waited for 45 min for a got or cold drink day one, day two was a bit better. One group decided enough was enough & decided to go to local cafe. Bar staff on the evening had no idea, painfully slow. Pre booked electric trollies & received email confirming this, got there & no trollies booked for us. So our guys had to have a push trollies or buggy. Both golf courses however are just fantastic no complaints there.
Courses 9/10
Service 2/10
Staff in isolation is not what anyone wants to hear. It just took the shine of a great trip. Don’t like to complain but just saying it how it was. Many others felt the same. 🤷🏻♂️

6 / 10
The courses were superb and we had an excellent visit. It’s a shame that the hotel has difficulty in providing dinner due to lack of staff and the hotel staff could try a lot harder to make up for their troubles.

A very corporate feel to it but overall it was a fantastic golf resort. The staff in the pro shop are probably the best I've ever encountered.

An enjoyable 2 day stay St Mellion resort, the room was simple but comfortable, staff very helpful , and the food was delicious. Challenging golf on the Nicklaus course!
8 / 10
Hotel nice staff friendly Bars and food good, Unfortunately we had to arrange meal times and book buggies and pick-up what Your Golf Travel had not organised for us, despite the whole idea of going through a company to arrange your break for you. This was disappointing and our next trip will not be with Your Golf Travel. We felt that the driving range was very sparse and poorly equipped and a good 10 minute walk from the hotel the local public course has palace like facilities in comparison.
10 / 10
very comfortable and friendly staff.

The hotel was very well managed in these current times. The Staff were very helpful and waited on my party very well. The rooms were very clean and tidy.

Just a fabulous place with great staff
6 / 10
We returned to St Mellion after previous tour 4 yrs ago.
The golf and pro shop staff were very obliging and helpful. The courses were both in pretty good condition and as tough as ever!
The actual hotel unfortunately was in our opinion below par and not a 4 star establishment.
Uncomfortable beds that make premier Inns positively ultra deluxe.
A la crate restaurant with shortages of wine on both nights and a disappointing menu taboot.
We discussed with the management and a price adjustment was agreed.
We will not be placing review on trip advisor as that is not our style.
Like so many of my school reports read,
Tries hard but so much potential left wanting

8 / 10
Good resort hotel and able to take a booking where all the group wanted single rooms. Food excellent on both evenings served by attentive staff. Hotel needs better signage as it is so easy to get confused/lost around the complex.
10 / 10
Hotel was perfectly situated within very short walk from the car park and to the 1st Tees at the Nicklaus and Kernow courses.
Staff were very welcoming and attentive.
Hotel room was very clean and tidy.
Food in the restaurant and bar was excellent.
8 / 10
Staff were great, we stayed in a twin room, the single bed was very small and rock hard mattress, apart from that great resort.
10 / 10
Could not have asked for a better place to go. The hotel was immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful, the food delicious and the room (top floor overlooking the golf course) great. What more could you want. Just wish I had taken the swimsuit to enjoy the spa.
8 / 10
All the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good and service was swift. Only slight change would be that the 3 of us found the beds too hard.
10 / 10
just exceptional all round.
8 / 10
Wonderful views. reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The food was superb. Great pool area to wind down in after our round. The only criticism was the hotel felt a little bit tired with creaky floors in the accommodation part of the hotel.
10 / 10
Best value for money golf trip I've ever been on hotel and rooms spotless staff could not do enough for you
10 / 10
I would like to thank everyone at yourgolftravel.com for
helping me organize our trip to St Mellion.
The Hotel was stunning and all the staff were very helpful
indeed. The pro in the golf shop even gave us a tour of the place and gave us
good advice on how you tackle the golf courses.
All twelve of us thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would love
to return back one day to take on the Nicklaus course once more.
We would certainly recommend St Mellion to
other golfers and would do so for all different size groups & societies.
10 / 10
We recently returned from our second visit to the St Mellion
resort. This complex is a great place to visit whether you play golf or
not, as there is plenty to do and see. The Kernow course is a lovely
parkland course set in rolling countryside with great views. The quality
of the fairways and greens is excellent and the course marshals ensure that the
pace of play is never too slow.
The Hotel is of a very high standard too, and prices are
very reasonable compared to other resorts that I have stayed in. The service
was excellent with friendly and speedy members of staff who never kept you
waiting for food or drinks. The quality of food and variety meant that there
was a choice for everyone, including veggie options. Unlike a few other
resorts that we have visited there was not a separate menu for guests visiting
on a golf holiday and very few supplements to pay.
I would certainly recommend a golf break at St Mellion and
will be going back for a third visit hopefully later in the year. 10/10

St Mellion is a resort which we have wanted to try out for a
few years. Now having now spent a weekend there, playing both courses during
our stay, we were not disappointed. What a great venue!
It's well sign posted, so easy to find, the rooms are very
clean and extremely comfortable, the staff at the venue are very friendly and
helpful and the golf courses themselves are very well maintained and a good
challenge to all levels of golfer. I would recommend buggies though as it is a
very hilly course.
Food and drink is of a very good standard and at a
reasonable price too.
Yourgolftravel sorted out the weekend for us and did a great
job. We will be back. 10/10

I organised for 2 societies to go to St Mellion (32 people
altogether) to play against each other on both the Kernow and Nicklaus courses.
Overall the courses were in good condition although the tees on the Nicklaus
were looking a bit tired.
The rooms were good and the food was good too and I didn't
have any complaints from the lads. Unfortunately the cost of drinks in the bar
was a bit steep, but after a few tend not to worry about it!
Members of staff in hotel and pro shop were friendly and
helpful and all things considered, it's an ideal place for a weekend golf
break.
Thanks to Your Golf Travel who managed to quickly get it all
booked up. Overall everything ran smoothly and would recommend you to mates.

Julie and I really enjoyed our stay at St Mellion,
where all the staff in the hotel and golf course were helpful and very
friendly. The food was excellent too, with plenty of choice from the menu. The
room was clean and comfortable and the leisure facilities were excellent.
The golf courses were also in excellent condition,
especially the greens. The Nicklaus Course is superb and some of the holes are
truly stunning. It is a stern test of golf and I would play it totally
differently when I go back. It is more of plotting your way round type of
course and at times frustrated me, but that was from not knowing the course. It
is a tough walk, but I did not see the benefit of a buggy as they have to stick
to the cart paths on the Nicklaus course.
We were lucky to have fantastic weather but I would love to
go back as the whole experience was superb.
