Ninety minutes from Tampa and Orlando and surrounded by lakes, scrub and towering sand dunes, Streamsong delivers a golf experience like no other resort in Florida. It is a purpose-built golf destination in the middle of rural Polk County and the sense of space is exactly what people come for. Where many Florida courses sit beside housing or highways, Streamsong feels more like sandbelt golf, with fast-running turf, generous fairways and greens that reward imagination as much as power.

Designed by three of the most respected names in modern architecture, the resort now offers 54 holes. Tom Doak's Blue and Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's Red opened in 2012 and both have featured in GOLF Magazine's US top 100. In 2017, Gil Hanse added the Black to complete the line-up. If you like walking golf and you want a pure, stay-on-site trip with serious course variety, this is one of the standout options in the United States.

Who is this for?
Golfers who want a pure, immersive golf trip without distractions, and groups or couples looking to play multiple world-class courses in one location with strong accommodation, dining and downtime options on-site.

Who is it best for?
Serious golfers chasing bucket-list modern American courses, walking enthusiasts who want firm, fast conditions and strategic design, and anyone seeking a remote, high-end golf escape in Florida that feels nothing like the rest of Florida.

Golf Courses at Streamsong Resort

Streamsong Blue

With its multiple elevation changes, fairways navigating wild grasses and deep-water ponds, and huge bunkers that roll off of towering sand dunes, Streamsong Blue seems designed by discovery rather than by intention.

Created by Renaissance Golf Design’s renowned architect Tom Doak (who already has four designs ranked among the top 100 in the world) Streamsong Blue is equally destined for golfing greatness. It features spectacular terrain, with rises and falls in elevation, and contours that undulate.

Streamsong Red

Simply put, Streamsong Red is like nothing you’ve ever played. Designed by the legendary team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw (architects of five designs in the Top 100 in the United States) Streamsong Red is an 18-hole masterpiece.

With its 419 Bermuda Grass fairways winding through decades-old sand dunes, lakes, and natural bunkers, Streamsong “is naturally conducive to uncovering great golf holes,” says Crenshaw, who himself is a two-time PGA Masters Champion. “It is going to be spectacular.”

Streamsong Red is ranked as one of the best courses in Florida

Marvel at stunning panoramic views and vast landscapes of impressive elevation rolls, tumbles and ridges. Streamsong Black, brought to life by renowned designer Gil Hanse, offers golfers the opportunity to play a premium course that rivals the greatest golf venues in the world.

Here you’ll take on an impressive yet intense Par-73 championship layout and discover Streamsong’s latest features including the Gauntlet, a two-acre putting course, and the Roundabout, a free-flowing practice area.

Accommodation at Streamsong Resort

The Lodge sits between two lakes with sunrise and sunset views, floor-to-ceiling glass in every room, and custom louvers to control the light without losing the horizon. Most rooms look straight out over water, dunes or fairways, and the interiors are deliberately understated, designed by Alberto Alfonso to reflect the natural palette of sand, scrub and sky. Each room features original paintings by Alfonso that mirror the landscape outside, queen or king beds with high-thread-count linens, plush robes, and boutique bath amenities.

The Lodge offers 228 guest rooms and suites, four distinct dining venues ranging from casual to fine dining, a full-service spa built into a grotto-style setting, a lakeside pool, a quiet loft lounge area for reading or unwinding between rounds, and retail space stocked with golf gear and outdoor apparel. The rooftop lounge is a particular highlight, with no city lights for miles and clear views of the stars, especially after a long day walking 36 holes.

For golfers, the layout works perfectly. You can walk out of the Lodge and be on the first tee of Blue or Red within minutes, or take a short shuttle to the Black and its separate Clubhouse. The 12 guest rooms at the Clubhouse offer a more intimate, boutique feel and direct access to Fifty-Nine, which focuses on steaks, local seafood and an extensive wine list. Whether you are staying at the Lodge or the Clubhouse, everything you need, from practice facilities to post-round drinks, is within easy reach, and the lack of external distractions keeps the focus squarely on golf, food and recovery.

Streamsong is 30 minutes south of Lakeland in Central Florida, roughly 90 minutes from both Tampa International Airport and Orlando International Airport. The drive from either city takes you off the interstate and into rural Polk County, where the landscape flattens out and the only landmarks are cattle ranches, orange groves and the occasional roadside diner. The resort itself is at 1000 Streamsong Drive, Bowling Green, Florida, 33834, and once you turn off the main road, it is very much a stay-on-site kind of trip, so it pays to arrive stocked and ready to settle in.

Decent accommodation, albeit very functional. Rooms were a good size.

The staff and facilities are exceptionally, the hotel really is in the middle of nowhere, but there is plenty of choice onsite.

An incredible spot in the middle of nowhere, with superb staff and brilliant rooms. It does come at a price though and Streamsong know they have a captive market. Facilities are excellent and I'd especially recommend the Black clubhouse for dinner one evening. Also worth a visit is the rooftop bar.

Prepare to get beaten up if you play from far back. Lots of 400-450 par 4s that require length and accuracy, which is a bit harder for mere mortal golfers. More engaging than the Black course, and much more like uk style golf.

The biggest greens you’ll ever play on. The caddies described it as playing on the moon. Very different type of course, lots of room but equally as much sand. We played off the back tees which were playing about 7,000 yards with the wind. Handle with care if you want a good score, as it meant one par 5 was circa 590 yards….

Sensational golf course, stunning views, and seriously quick greens, the 16th is stunning. Having a caddie who reads greens well is a massive help.

Superb golf course, the greens are ridiculously big and undulating, you’ll need to be a good putter on this course

Firstly, a note about conditioning. Streamsong where offering 50% discounts on green fees as the greens had just been punched and sanded. Not something we knew about in advance - they are having some issues with local insects we were told. Whilst this detracted a little bit from the experience, this is still a magnificent golf course, albeit one where it has a small stretch of slightly forgettable holes after the turn. I'd love to return and play it again in better condition. Not wishing to finish on a negative, but putting walking groups out followed by those in carts will always affect the pace - despite being well within the budgeted limit, an over zealous marshall decided to lecture us on pace just before the treacherous 16th tee shot. Didn't land well when 3 stressed players found the water.

The showstopper of the property - the scale is a little different on the Black course. A bigger and better clubhouse, better practice area and the superb 18 hole gauntlet putting green, which is essential to prepare you for the test to come. Some complain about the greens here being too hard (don't leave it above the hole is a good tip), but they're not too bad. The punchbowl on 9 is the signature but 18th for me is the best hole on this course. Take your time to enjoy the Black clubhouse experience.

Collectively our favourite of the 3 courses at Streamsong - there is not a bad hole on the Blue from the majestic opening tee shot all the way through. A couple of negatives that we felt could easily have been avoided. Firstly, triple check your caddie reservations. The club claimed not to have received them so it was a long day of dragging clubs for us (thankfully sorted the following days). Secondly, the greens had recently been sanded. It didn't actually affect the roll too badly but wasn't visually appealing. Would have helped to have been warned in advance about maintenance.
