Amazing . Really enjoyed the hotel and spa. Food was lovely. Staff were exceptional. Especially the lady in the main reception.

Disappointed with twin beds pushed together rather than double which we were assured of getting. The food was of very poor quality and very limited choice.

Very comfortable and ideal as a base from which to play Golf.

Everything about the hotel from the start was excellent from the staff to the rooms and the food and drink everything was spot on and we were well looked after specify mention to Simon larking who went out his way to make things easy for me personally

Service was slow, this was due to having only one bar staff. Food was very good and drinks were to everyone’s liking. Felt that it was a bit on the expensive side for food and drinks. Disappointed that the bar closed at 10pm

We have been going on a golf trip each year for the last 11 years and this, unfortunately, was the poorest hotel stay to date. The course was great, we really enjoyed the challenge. The good weather was a bonus. Although the staff were helpful, they were not very knowledgable. When we asked a question about something, they always had to ask”someone else” The bedrooms are dated. I went to open the windows in my room, No7, and I though it had been “dressed” for Halloween, the window frame was covered in cod webs and a layer of dust lay on the inside of the window frames. All of our party thought the rooms could do with an “upgrade” The plumbing needs attention as every time you flushed the toilet or “ran the tap” it was very noisy. Also, signs a black mould in the corners of the bathroom. The food and restaurant was adequate at best. Poor menu choices and bland food made for a disappointing stay I’m afraid. Breakfast buffet set up was awful. Have they not served breakfast to golfers before? Again, if it was not for the good weather, this would have been a very unsatisfactory golf trip. PS, the bars close far too early !!!!

Course in excellent condition. Hotel room once again excellent. Driving range one of the best I have played on. My only negative comment was with the quality of main meal in the evening and restaurant service, waited over half an hour for breakfast which I had to leave without to avoid missing Tee off time. The reason for poor service was probably due to under staffing. Staff were having to race around covering multiple positions

Hotel very clean, staff very helpful and friendly, food excellent, speed of service excellent too. My only criticism would be very small T.V. screen in room. Really enjoyed our stay, will definitely visit again in the spring.

The room was a bit tired. Food was bad. Think the micowave was used for all cooking. Breakfast was OK when the supplies were there but all the time there was shortages.

Reasonably comfortable, but like most hotels the windows are restricted for opening. Noisy from adjoining room as the soundproofing is poor. Although giving several weeks notice for the meal menu they had run out of some of the selected meals. Food ok. Service in the restaurant good.

Absolutely terrible experience . Staff were good but more like lodge than country club . One bar area and breakfast constantly empty of food and plates and cutlery . Totally run down and understaffed

Staff were lovely, professional and very helpful. The bar and restaurant set up is pretty good. Food was good. Bar closes early at 10pm. No entertainment or anything. The rooms were pretty poor and need some renovation. Mould on the bathroom floor due to a leak which was staining the clean towels dropped on the floor. Bathroom needed a complete refit. Beds were uncomfortable. Spa and pool areas were great. Opposite of the rooms, clean and up to date.

In general the stay was enjoyable, on occasions the service was slow, only because the volume of business and shortage of staff. I was disappointed in the choice of included dinner, but in general as I say an enjoyable trip.

While reception staff were great, the experience in the bar/restaurant were not as good. We were informed that a cooked breakfast was not available due to staff shortages. We knew from friends who had stayed 2 weeks previously that this was also the case. Whilst not really an issue as far as we were concerned, perhaps this information had not got through to you. The free drinks in recompense were not provided despite reception sending a note to the bar.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful. No separate dining room. All food served from the bar.

Great facilities, staff are very welcoming and friendly, the whole stay was great, even with covid restrictions the 8 of us still had a great time

Hotel was great staff super friendly. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Sports bar closed due to restrictions other than that can’t complain. Would definitely stay here again.

The actual accomodation (in a seperate block) was looking rather tired, especially the bathroom. In desperate need of modernising. The 1st floor restaurant was out of use. So eating in the bar area was not really appropriate.(tables far too small for a 3 course meal & with drinks on as well, for 4 people) Staff were struggling to cope at designated meal times. Due to the reduced facilities comfortable after dinner seating was already occupied.(unless you went back out to the reception area) Bar service closed at 10 pm.

Fantastic trip to the Essex golf and country club staff were very welcoming on arrival and tee off was on time the course was in fantastic condition especially the greens receptive and fast the only slight beef was the 4hrs 45 min round but the sun was out. Evening meal was good and all plates were empty. The rooms are a bit small and and hot but they were clean and functional breakfast was a bit poor but for the price u can’t grumble to much. The second round was a lot quicker just over 3 hrs all in all well worth a look

The hotel was comfortable although the layout on entering was a little strange having to go through a security barrier each time to get to the bar & restaurant.

The course was immaculate. Played long for our group but the fairways were wide . We thoroughly enjoyed it. The Golf manager was extremely attentive

Course played well, fairways in good condition for this time of year. The Greens were a bit slow in need of a cut. Overall experience was great not too crowded and the driving range a great set up. Will only go again if the food improves.

As a novice Golfer - the championship course was a real test, but hugely enjoyable. The Garden course was also delightful with a few more Par 3s - nine hole which we played twice.

Conditions were tough. But course was in good condition.

The greens were not in the best condition after maintenance but overall that didn’t spoil the round we all had.it was a long difficult course which everyone enjoyed.The Marshalls were great overall we had great rounds

Unfortunately the weather was not the best for the first day, however was still playable which was a huge plus

A good test of golf for all abilities. Clever bunkering led to careful club choices on approaches to the greens. Water features were “in play” on a few holes. They were great to negotiate actually. Green were reasonably quick and very true.

The course was in excellent condition. The greens had just been hollow-tined which made them a bit bumpy, but then again this is to be expected and has to be done to keep them in good shape

With the amount of rain and the time of year the course was in good condition.

Nice course, long, good condition

First day on the course was great, fantastic weather and speed of play was good for the time we had booked. Second day very slow although we had an early tee time was stuck behind a very slow 4 ball. The driving range is one of the best I have practiced on. We really enjoyed the course and will book again soon.

Blessed with good weather and recovering from the drought the course was good apart from the bunkers which are rough and stony.

Summer has affected course badly but not helped by overbooked course - had to wait on every hole in a queue ! Club had booked comp on same day . Also residents can’t play before 11am so by time u finish - bar has stopped serving lunch . Would not recommend to anyone

Really enjoyable, nice looking course. Pretty flat and easy going. Ideal for your average golfer and has everything you need.

Rounds 1 & 2 were great with no one behind or in front of us, and we completed the rounds in less than 4 hours each. Round 3 followed a seniors (?) match with 10 sets of fourballs and was obviously much slower (4 hours 40 minutes). We joined up with one of your new members who was on his own behind us, which slowed us up, but we still had to wait for 5 minutes on most tees. We really enjoyed the course!

The greens recently worked on and studded which resulted in a less than true role although we appreciate that the course has to be maintained. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Buggies good reasonable price Starter helpful but not there on the Monday The course was excellent fairways cut clearly greens reasonable directions good Long walks between some holes Our group were not held up nor did we hold anyone up!

Lower handicappers will find this course a bit easy, for the average golfer the course has just enough trouble to make it challenging, wide fairways, generally the course as a whole was in good condition, greens are very slow, but we did have a lot of rainfall before we went, overall would go back again

Course was in very good condition big open fairways and a good test. Most of our group are mid to high handicaps and all found the course enjoyable.

Too many tee times booked so took iver 5 hours for a round

Day1. Finding your way, Buy a £5 course planner, no layout on the score card (noisy planes all day, next to an airfield, trip flights) Day 2 was easier(Still noisy) Flat course layout. Some elevated tee's. A lovely tree lined course. Lots of hazards to avoid, but that is Golf. Greens tricky to read, pace & line.

Tight golf course with many hazards water, sand and lots of trees narrow fairways but the real gem was the greens receptive and fast. Played two rounds Sunday was so slow 4hrs 45 mins and Monday’s round was just over 3 hours so a lot better great driving range

If I lived close to the course I would be a member. The course was very playable with some difficulty in certain areas but a treat to play on. Play was a little slow on Wednesday but that is understandable as Wednesday is the Seniors competition day. Monday and Tuesday was perfect.

Unfortunately we were behind a club competition although it speeded up after 9 holes. The course was in pretty good condition considering the long dry spell & the greens were excellent.
