Named after General Joseph "Fighting Joe" Wheeler - the only Confederate General to attain the same rank later in the United States Army, the Fighting Joe Course is long, really long, measuring over 8,000 yards from the back tees! Don’t let this put you off though as there are plenty of different tee positions that make the course accessible for golfers of varying abilities.
Fairways are suitably generous considering the need to hit long drives and the main challenge of the course comes in the form of the sweeping undulations on and around the silky putting surfaces. The spectacular 17th hole is considered by many to be the signature hole on the course, but the 18th, where the green overlooks Wilson Lake on the Tennessee River, will distract you with its beauty, if not its treachery.

The tree-lined Schoolmaster Course offers a more traditional test of parkland golf with every hole following the shapes and contours of the natural topography along the Tennessee River. It's wooded, undulating and truly spectacular.
Although not as long, many golfers believe the Schoolmaster to be the tougher of the two tests due to the demand for accuracy and good club selection. The par 4 18th, perched on high bluffs overlooking the river, is particularly spectacular and a fitting way to complete your round in this fantastic course.
