Tobacco Road Golf Club

The layout at Tobacco Road has been carved through an old sand quarry and thus many of the fairways are surrounded by towering dunes that give this North Carolina gem a links type feel in certain places. With a maximum yardage that just sneaks over the 6,500 yard mark the course is by no means long but in every other aspect it a real challenge. Mike Stranz's larger than life architecture incorporates all manner of challenging features, whether they be visually intimidating roller-coaster fairways, extravagantly undulating greens, vast sandy waste areas, hidden greens, very elevated greens or completely blind drives, the golfer will have to carefully plan each and every shot. Tobacco Road is often compared with the world famous Pine Valley which - considering the fact that that is often ranked as the best course in the world - is very high praise indeed.
