1 Night, 2 Rounds
You're just outside Towcester in rural Northamptonshire, about half an hour from Northampton and Milton Keynes. Whittlebury Park is handy for the M1 and M40 too, which is a small win when you're trying to get eight lads, four tee times and a boot full of clubs to the same place without drama.
The resort itself is built around a classical Georgian manor set in 700 acres of historic parkland. You get 36 holes of championship golf split into four distinct nine-hole loops, meaning you can mix and match your rounds and play different combinations each day. That variety is genuinely useful if you're staying for more than one night and want to keep things fresh, particularly for groups where half the party wants a sterner test and the other half prefers a slightly friendlier combination.
Off the course, there's a large spa with heat-and-ice experiences, a modern leisure club, and a range of dining options that go well beyond the usual clubhouse fare. The setting is peaceful, the facilities are genuinely four-star, and the whole place is geared towards both golf breaks and longer stays where the multiple loops, spa and dining variety make repeat days worthwhile.
Who is this for?
Golfers who want a proper UK resort break with loads of golf on-site, plus a spa and pool good enough to keep non-golfers smiling. It works well for societies, couples and groups who want variety in their golf without having to drive between courses.
Who is it best for?
Groups and societies staying two or three nights. The four nine-hole loops let you mix up your 18s, so repeat rounds don't feel like repeats. Mid-to-low handicappers who enjoy testing their game across different layouts will get the most out of it, as will anyone organising a trip where half the party wants serious golf and the other half wants spa time, a pool and decent food.

Whittlebury Park Golf Club offers 36 holes of fantastic championship golf made up of four sets of 9 holes, guests are welcome to play different combinations to make up 18 holes or simply enjoy a quick round of 9 holes. The golf club has a rich history as at one point it formed part of the Royal Whittlewood Forest, which is home to red deer and was once a Royal Hunting Forest.
The Royal Whittlewood course is cleverly integrated into the natural landscape and plays around the remaining parts of the ancient Royal Whittlewood Forest. The area has an abundance of flora and fauna, which made the forest a favourite hunting ground of Medieval Kings.

All rooms are decorated in an elegant, understated style with the kind of modern amenities you'd expect from a four-star resort: internet access, plasma TV with Freeview, hospitality tray and en-suite bathroom. The standard rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, but if you're after more space, the suites come with a separate lounge and dining area, plus bathrooms fitted with Jacuzzi spa baths, double showers and designer toiletries from Elemis or Molton Brown.
The dining options here are varied enough to keep things interesting over a few nights. Murrays is the fine-dining option, holding two AA Rosettes and serving modern takes on classic British dishes. It's the kind of place you'd book for a proper sit-down meal after a good round. Before or after, you can have a drink in the Silverstone Bar, which is lined with motor racing memorabilia, a nod to the nearby circuit.
For something more relaxed, Bentley's offers Mediterranean-inspired dishes, while Aston's blends classic and contemporary cuisine in a less formal setting. If you're spending time by the pool, the Terrace Bar serves light snacks and healthier options throughout the day, so you don't have to leave the leisure area to grab lunch.
All guests get complimentary access to the leisure facilities, which include an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool spa and a well-equipped Cybex gym. It's a solid set-up if you want to loosen up before a round or recover afterwards, and it's one of the reasons Whittlebury Park works so well for mixed groups where not everyone is playing 36 holes a day.
The spa itself is a step up from the usual hotel offering. It's built around a series of heat-and-ice experiences, taking your body through sudden temperature changes designed to invigorate and reset you. You'll find aromatherapy crystal steam rooms, an ice cave and a range of soothing therapies and ancient bathing rituals. If you're the type who likes to combine golf with proper relaxation, or if you're travelling with non-golfers who want something to do while you're out on the course, the spa is a genuine draw rather than just a box-ticking facility.

We were located in the paddocks, the room was very disappointing (as lead guest mine was particularly bad). Food was also below our expectations. Bar and all other facilities very good.

Enormous hotel but we (16 golfers) were very well looked after. Rooms comfortable and clean. Rooms cleaned only on request. Toiletries not replaced except on request. Food good. Staff superb. Lots of facilities - spa etc. Would definitely return.

The hotel and restaurant staff were very helpful. Rooms are clean and tidy with comfortable beds. Only negative is watch the service charge automatically put on to any drinks that you order at the dinner table, but they will take this off if you ask. Would definitely return here and recommend to other groups

Hotel is a big place. Nice pool and spa area. Buffet brekkie was top notch, dinner was ok but a bit limited and scheduling didn't suit us after an afternoon round. Staff were great.

The accommodation was not very easy to manuevre around. I had asked for wheelchair accessibility and although I could get through the door getting around the room and into the bathroom was not possible. Luckily I could get out of the wheelchair and move around with the help of my husband. The wheelchair could not get through the bathroom door. That said if I didn't have the wheelchair the room would have been sufficient. The restaurants, bars and other facilities were very nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic

3 x 9 hole courses so good variety for a society visit, all equally pleasant to play. Wide fairways with challenges especially the red course. Quite flat. We had very poor weather and the club were extremely accommodating.

17 Ladies of all abilities played all the 9 hole combinations over our 2 night 3 round stay. All Ladies enjoyed the course but there were a few lost balls in the water on some of the holes. Course was in good condition and Caddymaster was very helpful both before and during our trip. Only fault is when hiring a buggy you can't take your buggy to the car park so have to carry clubs a little way (caddy master will let you borrow a pull trolley if needed)

New course always difficult first time. Greens OK, fairways not watered so grass covering not the best, but spoilt on home course!

There are essentially 3 nines here; Blue Red and Yellow. We didn't get a choice of which we played but being our first time we didn't mind that as we had two rounds to try all 3 (Blue and Yellow & Red and Yellow). The Red was the best nine. All 3 nines were in good nick although the greens could have done with a bit of watering. A nice course that we'd certainly go back to.

The golf club was a good place for food and drinks. The course was in good condition and it was a very pleasant day out.

We played three combinations of the nine hole courses and all three were in good condition. Two of the courses are quite difficult with blind tee shots and water hazards. They are a good challenge for the average golfer, but very enjoyable to play.

3 very enjoyable loops of 9 holes. Tees, greens and fairways all well kept and a good test for all abilities of golfers. The driving range was a bit tired and the pro shop didn’t have much stock but other than that couldn’t fault it 👍🏻
