The Dukes Course is the most established at Woburn, having hosted the British Masters for over 20 years. Designed by Charles Lawrie in 1976, the 6,983-yard gem winds through mature pine, birch and chestnut trees, with its manicured fairways lined by heather. As beautiful as it is challenging, the Dukes is archetypal Woburn.

Signature hole- No. 3:  Par 3, 134 yards (Medal), SI 15
Dukes signature hole is a wonderful par 3 playing to a green 100 feet below the tee, and surrounded by rhododendrons, gorse and beautiful purple bushes. However, what makes this hole truly special is the undulating green, which turns harshly back to front, meaning that it is of utmost importance to hit the back half of the green, where the pin lies.

Cut through the pines, the Duchess Course is shorter and narrower than its more established sibling, but this hidden gem is a rare test of golf. More suited to the thoughtful and patient golfer, the Duchess’ subtleties demand finesse and guile to negotiate its splendid 6,651 yards.

Signature hole- No. 15:  Par 5, 485 yards (Medal), SI 12

The Duchess' 15th can provide real reward for those who fancy themselves with the driver. The hole plays 485 yards and when carrying the hill, the ball may roll kindly and allow for a possible attempt at the green in two. Beware though, this is a dangerous tactic and a narrow fairway means that only a dead straight drive will allow for your ball to keep clear of the trees! The approach shot is played uphill to a multi-tiered green, adding further distance for those wanting to reach in two. A fantastic hole offering great risk-reward golf and a real challenge for those who fancy their putting skills too!

Opened in 2000, the Marquess Course is a fabulous addition to the Woburn landscape. Measuring 7,214, the layout is a genuine championship proposition that looks set to eclipse its predecessors. Named for the Marquess of Tavistock, this majestic woodland course is among the most spectacular new projects to be completed in recent decades.

The Marquess hosted The 2019 Women's British Open, one of the Ladies Major Golf Championships, where the world's very best golfers took on the stunning tree-lined layout in an attempt to claim the coveted trophy.

2014 saw The Marquess host Final Qualifying for The Open Championship. With just 3 places up for grabs, the triumphant players were Paul Dunne of Ireland who led the way after a -10 total for 2 rounds, he was joined by Oliver Fisher on -7, while Rhys Enoch managed to get take the last place by winning the playoff in dramatic style, chipping in from off the green for a birdie 3.

Signature Hole - 7th:  Par 5, 509 yards (Medal), SI 2

Marquess' 7th fairway is split down the middle by a line of trees and played from an elevated tee, offering spectacular views over Milton Keys' countryside.  However, at stroke index 2 this is a challenging hole too. From the tee, you have two options- either to take the conventional route of playing down the left side, so to attempt at the green in regulation, or to play down the right whereby you will be left with a challenging shot over a large gully to get to the green. The large green contains sever undulations and large run-off areas, providing no let up to a simply magnificent hole!

In 2003, Ian Poulter became Woburn's Touring Professional and in 2004 became the first Woburn member to compete in the Ryder Cup.

2019 saw Woburn host The AIG Womens British Open. This event saw the world's best golfers take on the famed Marquess Golf Course. Created by lead designer, from European Golf Design, Ross McMurray, The Marquess Course is a layout which features many great holes from the split fairway on the par-5 7th hole to the risk and reward on offer at the 303-yard par-4 12th hole. McMurray was able to create a fantastic golf course that focussed heavily on shot-making and was enjoyable by golfers across a range of handicaps.

With a range of awards from the likes of Golf Monthly, Top 100 Golf Courses and more, a round of golf or more at Woburn is one that is well recommended.

At The Clubhouse

Woburn's clubhouse offers a relaxing setting with free WiFi, following a busy day on the course. During Winter, it is open from 7am to 6pm. The club is also fairly unique in the fact that it has a 'Masters Lounge', created in recognition of previous British Masters winners. 

Club Requirements

When playing at Woburn, the club requires players to have a handicap of at least 36 for ladies and 24 for men. 

On the course, players must wear tucked in collared shirts and golf shoes. Shorts are allowed, provided they are tailored and worn with ankle length or long socks. Phones must be on silent and not used for calls. 

The dress code within the clubhouse allows for smart, coloured jeans (no denim) and leisure footwear. After 6pm, a jacket and collared shirt must be worn by men and appropriate dress for ladies.
