The championship Oaks Course measures a mighty 7,314 yards at its fullest, and has established an enviable reputation as one of the best in the South-West. J. Hamilton-Stutt's layout is carved through the wonderful oaks that characterise the estate itself, and will present a considerable test for even the most talented golfers. The putting surfaces are guarded by expanses of sand, and are constructed to European Tour standards. The quality of the Oaks was underlined in 2003 when the course was selected to host a Seniors Tour championship.
As a very playable golf course, The Oaks at Woodbury is one that is suitable for a host of handicaps and contributes to Woodbury Park's position as one of the top-rated golf resorts in the South West of England.
The Oaks was also the host venue of The McGregor Trophy, a leading amateur event for U16 golfers with past champions including Justin Rose, Edoardo Molinari and Oliver Fisher. When played at Woodbury, Michael Skelton claimed the coveted title with a 4-round total of 289. Skelton's amateur career continued to sparkle with the highlight being appearing in The Walker Cup.
The nine-hole Acorns Course provides the perfect opportunity for a relaxing round if the lengthy Oaks seems too daunting, and is also ideal for those still learning the game. The joy of the Acorns is that its greens are maintained to the same high standard as its neighbour, while the views over the Exe Valley are truly memorable.
The 18th hole on the lakes will test your nerve - under the watchful gaze of those in the clubhouse, your approach shot must carry the threatening lake.
Woodbury Park's hotel prides itself on providing outstanding hospitality, and is located in an idyllic setting amidst no less than 500 acres of Devonshire countryside.
The 56 en-suite bedrooms are tastefully decorated in a traditional style, and are equipped with outstanding modern features such as wireless internet and plasma screen satellite televisions.
The hotel's excellent reputation is a result of its commitment to attentive but unobtrusive customer service, which helps to underline the quality on offer during a golf break at Woodbury Park.
The Bodyzone centre is designed to guarantee visitors total relaxation with its range of holistic body and beauty treatments. Specialities include facials, hydrotherapy, massages, St. Tropez tanning, manicures and pedicures. Woodbury Park's leisure centre boasts a large indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and one of the local area's most comprehensive fitness suites.
Light snacks and meals can be enjoyed in the Conservatory, which overlooks the 18th green.
The outstanding menu at the Atrium restaurant changes constantly to reflect the best seasonal local produce.
Private dining is available in different rooms from intimate small parties to large banquets.

The golf bar was great, airy and light with good service from the staff & kitchen. Rooms were comfortable & clean, the dining area was a little disappointing as it felt like a bar area instead or a restaurant.

Hotel lacked any atmosphere the bar was in the restaurant and was small. Very limited and expensive drinks, No Guinness No brandy !! Food mediocre, run out of starters although we had pre-ordered two weeks before. Comfortable rooms but no air conditioning.

Hotel clean and tidy. Spa and pool nice and relaxing. Our 3 course meal took 3 hours to finish on first night, very slow surface. The second night much faster because we prebooked food. Very isolated location to try and book taxis out on night. Make sure you prebook your return taxi. Overall a 3 out of 5.

The hotel is nice but a little dated. The room was fine and the bed was comfortable. Toiletries weren’t replenished after our first night which was a shame. Dinner was taken in the clubhouse opposed to the hotel. We had a table in the conservatory which was extremely hot and there were no fans. We asked to eat outside but we’re told that the staff weren’t allowed to serve us outside? We did argue about this as this this stage my husband was melting! We did eventually take our dessert outside. Breakfast was in the hotel and the staff were so helpful especially with catering for my dietary needs ( gluten free) Overall the stay was good but having stated there before I did think the food wasn’t as good as before more pub than fine dining! The golf course was fabulous! Couldn’t fault anything! The greens were super and the whole course was beautifully manicured. Well done to the green keeping staff!!

Hi having been to this hotel and golf course since it opened, it’s an ideal location from where we live. Unfortunately as the organiser I wasn’t told that the bar was closing at 10pm, because the decorators were coming in. This was on top of having no fries for dinner, which were pre ordered. We were then told we could purchase drinks up-to 950 pm then could sit in the hotel reception to drink them. But wasn’t allowed to buy any drinks after that. I will say the ladies that tried to help us were very apologetic but said they were so under staffed. This was far below the normal standard of this hotel, and my party were really disappointed. Regards Darren

We visited as a group of 14 for my 60th Birthday but were treated like children by the bar manager & staff. The bar shut at 10pm and we were ushered out by security staff at 11pm who then proceeded to escort us to our rooms!!! We weren't even allowed to sit in the bar and watch the closing stages of the Masters!! Their attitude was totally inflexible and rude. Definitely wouldn't recommend a visit unless you want to be 'told off & sent to bed'!!!!!!

Golf and hotel were fine. Clearly there were shortages of staff which made service in restaurant and bar slow. Nevertheless, the staff there were very attentive and did their best for what was a full hotel.

A disappointing experience. Excellent golf course not matched by the quality of the hotel and restaurant. We booked Dinner Bed and Breakfast dining A La Carte. Turned out we ate in the clubhouse every night where the food was not up to A La Carte standard by a long way. To be fair to the staff they tried their best but used the covid excuse for poor service far too often. The hotel itself whilst clean was not 4 star, no fridge, no safe, hard bed etc and was very tired. This was not a good spend and it is unlikely we will return.

Great course and food. Service a little slow (but could have been due to a shift change). Shame one of our group had an internal room - but get why that happens. Would happily return.

Hotel was comfortable - but nothing special. Décor a little tired. Booked half board, breakfast was acceptable, but dinner was of extremely poor quality, so much so that we ate out on our second night, which was an added expense. Dinner was served in the clubhouse, we were allocated a table near the window, I put my handbag on the floor and saw snail trails all over the carpet - totally unacceptable. I have an allergy to shellfish - staff couldn't tell me if the fish fritters were safe for me to eat.

The restaurant was a big let down. The evening meal was served in the club house in a conservatory which meant a 600 yard walk from the hotel in the open air which when it rained meant we got very wet both going and returning. he menu was very limited and did not change during our 4 nights stay. There were no vegetarian options on it. We had been before and had liked it but we will not be returning again. Very disappointing.

Receptionist very friendly and welcoming. Found it strange we had breakfast in the actual hotel but had to go to the golf club for dinner. Good varied choice on the menu, well presented and waiter very attentive. Breakfast was ok.

Our stay here was very pleasant. The rooms were more than adequate for what we needed. The Spa facilities were very good. The dinner in the evening was excellent on both occasions. The only slight negatives were that the breakfast wasn’t the best and after dinner you had to stay at the restaurant bar as the other bar shut at 9.30.

Golf coarse is great with some tight fairways with tough semi rough and brutal rough. Greens were poor because of ongoing treatments and maintenance. Over all, we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 rounds on this coarse.

The course was unplayable after all the rain and had been closed the day before we arrived. The Sunday we ended up just playing 9 as it was so muddy it was impossible. We’d like to go again in good conditions :) We have asked if we can have some form of refund/vouchers

No problem with the course albeit both days it was quite slow, Sunday particularly. Food availability on arrival on Sunday in the clubhouse was very slow and not that good, evening meal was fine but bar shut at 11 and no availability in the hotel which was disappointing. Also on Monday, despite being told food would be available when we finished at around 4.30, nothing available other than drinks, nuts and crisps which we were obviously unhappy with. Also the halfway house wasn’t open either day due to staffing problems. Notwithstanding that we had an enjoyable 2 days in lovely weather but the above points took the edge off it.

✓12 Apr 2022
Great course, although the greens had been hollow tined the week before which obviously affected putting. This has to be done at certain times of the year, so just one of those things. All in all a great golfing experience and a special mention to the pro-shop staff who were excellent all weekend.

Sunday tee time of 2pm proved to be a good time to play for a 2 ball. Monday morning 11am tee time proved the opposite with the round of almost 5 hours for a 2 ball. Nevertheless still enjoyed our stay.

✓14 Aug 2019
At the mid way point there is a snack hut. On the first day there was a two ball in front of us and in front of them three woman. One woman teed off at the 10th then went and got a coffee, the next two did exactly the same not allowing the two ball behind them to play through, this also happened on the second day which was very frustrating as we all started to stack up then and play became painfully slow. The 18th should be a call through hole, mark your ball let the next ones tee off then finish your game while they walk down to it. On the first day 9 of us were waiting to play this hole, 3 x 2 balls and 1 three ball.
