Wychwood Park
Wychwood Park is generally regarded as one of the premier inland courses in the north of England. At 7,209 yards from the championship markers, the course is set up to host professional tournaments and undoubtedly will challenge the game's best.
This is however a resort course, and as such has an array of tees, ensuring that all golfers can enjoy a round at Wychwood. The construction of the golf course utilised the latest in technology, including a computerised system for irrigation, while the teeing areas and sweeping greens were constructed in line with USGA principles.
The majority of visitors to Wychwood leave in awe of the course’s brilliant design. There are no weak holes: each has its own character and challenge – particularly the par 3s, many of which would look at home on some of great golf courses in the country. There are numerous obstacles and hazards to be negotiated en-route here, not least the constant threat of water.
Wychwood Park is an extremely adaptable golf course, making it very attractive as a golf break destination for players of all standards.
Signature Hole: 17th – Par 3, 216 yards
There are a number of terrific and unique holes at Wychwood Park, but the 17th is certainly the most beautiful. Don’t be fooled by the elevated tee box, which can make the hole appear shorter than it is, as a full carry of almost 200 yards is needed to clear the water from the back pegs. This is a gorgeous golf hole that will evoke memories of the 16th at Augusta National.

The hotel was spotless and almost felt brand new which was a comment we made during our stay. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Room was small but perfectly appointed with everything you needed.

Lovely hotel and rooms, staff were friendly enough but seemed to be really unorganised and particularly slow service in th restaurant

Great hotel, with helpful staff, good food and amenities and beer artless than £5 a pint. A golfers dream.

The hotel was lovely and the food was excellent. The only problem we had was the bar staff in the evening were very grumpy and locked up and removed us at midnight which was a shame.

I've been to Wychwood 3 times previous to this trip and all were good. This time I felt and my party did also that the food served was rather bland even down to the English Breakfast.

Fantastic couple of days!! Staff were lovely from start to finish and very accommodating!
Food was lovely great value for money thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Slight moan was that the bar closed at 22:30 and we would if perhaps liked another drink but we were not there for that so it wasn’t that big a deal.
8 / 10
All very enjoyable. The hotel seemed to have been refurb-ed and was comfortable and welcoming. The only negative point was that the breakfast food was not at all hot on the first day, though this was not a problem on day 2.

About 8 weeks before the trip the hotel got in touch to preorder the meals for the evening. This was great as it’s normally something I have to run around doing on the first morning. On the day of arrival the pro shop handed me a wallet for all the golfers with their rooms allocated and names on -all people had to do was to fill in their car reg, their email address, phone number and sign. Again something that was very efficient and saved me time. I then walked outside to the golf course to be greeted by the course Marshall and the starter who were both great and talked to me and a few others about their job being to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The course Marshall visited us on the course about 3 times to check on progress (which was fine) and to make sure we were ok. The bar prices were reasonable which was a bonus. This has to be the best yet from YGT and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Hotel very nice and comfortable

We were disappointed with the accommodation. In our room, there was plenty of room for hanging our clothes but there were no drawers to place our Golf clothes or underwear? I had to live out of my suitcase on the floor for 3days. I did complain to the Receptionist and she showed us different rooms but they were identical, so there was no benefit moving. The menu in the Restaurant was very limited there was about 5 main courses to choose from and this remained for the 3 nights we stayed. The quality of the food was very poor, quite tasteless. Apart from the Buffet Breakfast, which was very acceptable. The Golf Course @ Wychwood Park was excellent, very challenging. The one at Newcastle U Lyme was also very good, not quite as challenging but very acceptable. The Staff were very nice and did their best but it was apparent that they were understaffed. On our last evening it took them an hour to bring our main course. We wouldn't recommend the Hotel to anyone, but we would recommend the Golf.

Nice room, lovely food, poor service in the restaurant.
6 / 10
Comfortable room, the staff in the restaurant were a little slow but the food was ok. No leisure facilities to speak of. The bar at the golf club was very pleasant and the staff far more attentive than in the hotel. All the staff on the golf club side were very friendly and helpful.

Room and hotel was lovely, but fund bar service was very poor ,had to wait to order our drinks with meal for about half an hour, no one came and ask if we would like any drink, we had nearly finished our main meal before our drinks and water arrived at our table,we found service very poor.

The hotel is right next to the golf course which helps after a long day out on the rain. The first evening meal was a buffet because they had a large conference staying for several days, this meant us queuing for quite a while with limited choice, it also meant a long wait at the bar with only one member of staff serving! The breakfast choice was limited and the restaurant tables were all full of dirty dishes. The staff were all standing by the entrance door talking and on their phones, when asked to provide something they did not seem happy to be asked!! Poor service all round.

We were greeted & treated by very knowledgable & professional staff the hotel provided excellent facilities, the food was a buffet style evening meal but was well presented and very filling, drinks at the bar were expensive an average 25% over regular prices I’m used to but it did not stop myself & my colleagues enjoying our stay

The staff in the hotel couldn’t do enough for you.Rooms in the hotel were spotlessly clean.had an evening meal and breakfast and out of our party of 44 there were no complaints standard and quality of food was excellent
10 / 10
Rooms really clean and tidy, staff very friendly. Drinks in the bar prices are outrageously high in the hotel. While the course is a good test, I would not recommend taking a group of golfers as the drink prices are too high.

Facilities were excellent. Staff were very helpful in dealing with the ‘resort credit’ that they seemed to know nothing about.

The hotel was spotless and the food was first class .All the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Hotel looks like it’s recently been refurbished, rooms were brilliant and the food was really good. Only problem would be the very expensive bar prices, which did lead us to head into Nantwich for the evening.

Recently refurbished hotel and has been very tastefully completed. The Bedroom Was very comfortable and had everything needed for an overnight stay. Our evening meal was very tasty but the time taken to deliver each course seemed excessive, especially when yo7 consider the restaurant wasn’t busy at all.
Breakfast buffet was great and really set us up for the day.

The hotel was nice but the service was really poor. We had to wait 1 hour for our starter and no one came around to ask us if we wanted any drinks. In the morning of our trip we were teeing of at 12.30. We arrived at 10.30am, went and booked our meals and went to the driving range .We got back to the club house about 11.15am, had a few drinks but our bacon sandwiches did not arrive till 12.15 after we asked the staff 3 times which each time they said they wouldn't be long.So literally people were walking and eating so we did not miss our tee of time.

Room was clean bed was zip and link so a topper would of improved the bed. It was nice having a bath and shower in the room.

Rooms ok no complaints
Breakfast quite good
Bar Drinks expensive and long delay to be served
Evening meal too pretentious and not really suited to hungry golfers- salmon parcels and caviar, COD in curry sauce, haddock fish cakes! Where were the burgers, fish and chips , steak and kidney pie etc
