Wychwood Park is generally regarded as one of the premier inland courses in the north of England. At 7,209 yards from the championship markers, the course is set up to host professional tournaments and undoubtedly will challenge the game's best.
This is however a resort course, and as such has an array of tees, ensuring that all golfers can enjoy a round at Wychwood. The construction of the golf course utilised the latest in technology, including a computerised system for irrigation, while the teeing areas and sweeping greens were constructed in line with USGA principles.
The majority of visitors to Wychwood leave in awe of the course’s brilliant design. There are no weak holes: each has its own character and challenge – particularly the par 3s, many of which would look at home on some of great golf courses in the country. There are numerous obstacles and hazards to be negotiated en-route here, not least the constant threat of water.
Wychwood Park is an extremely adaptable golf course, making it very attractive as a golf break destination for players of all standards.
Signature Hole: 17th – Par 3, 216 yards
There are a number of terrific and unique holes at Wychwood Park, but the 17th is certainly the most beautiful. Don’t be fooled by the elevated tee box, which can make the hole appear shorter than it is, as a full carry of almost 200 yards is needed to clear the water from the back pegs. This is a gorgeous golf hole that will evoke memories of the 16th at Augusta National.

Located just 5 minutes from Junction 16 on the M6, Wychwood Park enjoys an enviable setting with scenic views over the Cheshire countryside in a location accessible to both the north and south.
While the golf course at Wychwood Park may be the main attraction for many visitors, the hotel itself should not be underestimated; the 110 bedrooms are modern and luxurious, all rooms have been refurbished in 2019. The hotel is contemporary and stylish, with all the facilities and amenities to ensure that golfers and families are extremely well catered for. In addition, the dedicated staff members are always on hand to assist with any requests you may have.
The Restaurant serves mouth-watering cuisine in a lively evening atmosphere. There is a wide variety of dishes to choose from in the dinner inclusive menu and complemented with the laid back ambience, you’re sure to have a dining experience to enjoy.
Unwind after a long day on the fairways in the appropriately named The Claret Jug bar, where you can grab a cold beer and watch live sport on the big screen. Or join us in our hotel Bar for a game of pool while taking in views of the Welsh hills across our outstanding 18-hole course.
For breakfast, help yourself to the all-you-can-eat buffet featuring all your hot and cold morning favourites. One thing is for certain – you won’t go hungry on the golf course.

Fantastic couple of days!! Staff were lovely from start to finish and very accommodating! Food was lovely great value for money thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Slight moan was that the bar closed at 22:30 and we would if perhaps liked another drink but we were not there for that so it wasn’t that big a deal.

All very enjoyable. The hotel seemed to have been refurb-ed and was comfortable and welcoming. The only negative point was that the breakfast food was not at all hot on the first day, though this was not a problem on day 2.

About 8 weeks before the trip the hotel got in touch to preorder the meals for the evening. This was great as it’s normally something I have to run around doing on the first morning. On the day of arrival the pro shop handed me a wallet for all the golfers with their rooms allocated and names on -all people had to do was to fill in their car reg, their email address, phone number and sign. Again something that was very efficient and saved me time. I then walked outside to the golf course to be greeted by the course Marshall and the starter who were both great and talked to me and a few others about their job being to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The course Marshall visited us on the course about 3 times to check on progress (which was fine) and to make sure we were ok. The bar prices were reasonable which was a bonus. This has to be the best yet from YGT and would thoroughly recommend a visit.

We were disappointed with the accommodation. In our room, there was plenty of room for hanging our clothes but there were no drawers to place our Golf clothes or underwear? I had to live out of my suitcase on the floor for 3days. I did complain to the Receptionist and she showed us different rooms but they were identical, so there was no benefit moving. The menu in the Restaurant was very limited there was about 5 main courses to choose from and this remained for the 3 nights we stayed. The quality of the food was very poor, quite tasteless. Apart from the Buffet Breakfast, which was very acceptable. The Golf Course @ Wychwood Park was excellent, very challenging. The one at Newcastle U Lyme was also very good, not quite as challenging but very acceptable. The Staff were very nice and did their best but it was apparent that they were understaffed. On our last evening it took them an hour to bring our main course. We wouldn't recommend the Hotel to anyone, but we would recommend the Golf.

Room and hotel was lovely, but fund bar service was very poor ,had to wait to order our drinks with meal for about half an hour, no one came and ask if we would like any drink, we had nearly finished our main meal before our drinks and water arrived at our table,we found service very poor.

The hotel is right next to the golf course which helps after a long day out on the rain. The first evening meal was a buffet because they had a large conference staying for several days, this meant us queuing for quite a while with limited choice, it also meant a long wait at the bar with only one member of staff serving! The breakfast choice was limited and the restaurant tables were all full of dirty dishes. The staff were all standing by the entrance door talking and on their phones, when asked to provide something they did not seem happy to be asked!! Poor service all round.

Recently refurbished hotel and has been very tastefully completed. The Bedroom Was very comfortable and had everything needed for an overnight stay. Our evening meal was very tasty but the time taken to deliver each course seemed excessive, especially when yo7 consider the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Breakfast buffet was great and really set us up for the day.

The hotel was nice but the service was really poor. We had to wait 1 hour for our starter and no one came around to ask us if we wanted any drinks. In the morning of our trip we were teeing of at 12.30. We arrived at 10.30am, went and booked our meals and went to the driving range .We got back to the club house about 11.15am, had a few drinks but our bacon sandwiches did not arrive till 12.15 after we asked the staff 3 times which each time they said they wouldn't be long.So literally people were walking and eating so we did not miss our tee of time.

The course was absolutely exceptional in fantastic nick and a tough challenging course but extremely enjoyable to play. We played Friday Saturday and paid 2 separate rates for buggy hire (£40 on Fri £45 on Sat) which I would absolutely recommend as its a big course it felt like pricing also altered in the claret Jug (19th Hole) The gents toilet was out of order throughout our stay and with a single disabled toilet made available. On both Friday and Saturday we got held up by slow play from groups in front of us despite the fact that there was a 40 minute gap between start times on Saturday as well. Which was a frustration but didn't take away from the excellent course

✓13 Jul 2025
Course very wide but lots of hazards Greens quick beautiful setting only negative we were booked to play 18 holes but only did 9 because of to many 4 balls in froßnt which meant very slow instead of a 4 hour 30 minute round would of been over 5 hours 30 minutes

✓7 Jul 2025
Th slowest round of golf i have ever played, course is great condition but the pro shop was particularly useless. Seemed to be multiple groups with different issues from poor communication. Tee times, missing buggy reservations and handling hotel check ins was so badly organised it was laughable. The only golf trip destination I would say i would never return to.
Steve
✓20 May 2025
The course is tricky and a several of our higher handicap players struggled. We overcame this by adjusting their handicaps for day 2. The only real -ve for the courts was that on the Sunday it was pretty obvious that the greens had not been cut. Once they’d been cut (Monday) they were good.
Greg
✓12 May 2025
The layout of the course was superb. The greens at all corporate venues seem to be like this to be fair so it wouldn’t be fair to say these were abnormally poor. But they was the weak link on an otherwise fantastic course.
Chris
✓5 May 2025
The course itself wasn't as good as previous 3 times I've played and after our first round on the Friday I made a complaint about the Greens to the shop assistants but they said they couldn't do anything as the Manager who could was in on the Sunday, as they were awful, with a lot of patches, very bumpy and the tramlines directing the golf ball a different way. One of the party even hit a large rock in one of the bunkers hidden in the sand! Due to the above none of the party stayed to play a third round included in the price. Disappointing to say the least!

Fantastic couple of days!! Staff were lovely from start to finish and very accommodating! The staff in the pro shop were top drawer, very helpful and welcoming and could not do enough for us. Course was great (but brutal at times😂) would highly recommend it. It is a long course though so if struggling with injuries or age it would be worth considering a buggy.

This is a truly great, challenging course (which is why we have come back to it. The only reason for the overall score being less than 5 stars is that venue completely messed up our order for buggies. We did find a solution but it was annoying and unnecessarily time-consuming.

Great golf course with lots of variety. Having the ability to play off any of the tees was a bonus. Due to the range of handicaps in the group (3 - 36) we stayed on the 138 course (yellow tees) which at 6500yds was plenty. All the 24 golfers have asked to go back to Wychwood which we’ll do either next year or the year after.

The course layout is excellent. The greens were in great nick. A challenge for all standard of golfer. The long rough is extremely penal but we made a local rule for our group to accommodate for that. Some of our group found it very tough but enjoyed it nevertheless. The tee system in place is very thoughtful & it would be advisable to use the tee appropriate to the standard of golfer which may mean playing off different tees in the same group. The slope rating should take care of any handicap issues.

Great course and a real challenge, considering how many societies were on the course of the weekend you would have to say the course was in fantastic condition. A lot of bunkers and water mean that more often than not you are not taking driver of the tee. A limited number of buggies, so book in advance, but loads of push trolleys. Some fairly long walks between holes would be my only moan.

The course was open on Sunday despite the poor weather that we have all experienced throughout the year. The fairways were very heavy going and on most holes were flooded, in our view the course was getting damaged with the amount if golf being played on it. It continued to rain overnight and was raining heavily again about an hour before our tee time of 10.28. Again the course was open but we felt that it should have been closed due to the weather conditions. It did not stop raining and it even got heavier on our way home. We took the view that any golf played on Monday would have been unsafe due to the course conditions. No trolleys were being allowed so we couldn’t have played anyway. A great shame because it is a great course but On a final note, all be wary of the long walks between green and tee on some holes.
