We have often stayed at Abama. The quality of accommodation, restaurants and general facilities is superb. Staff can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable.

We had a lovely room overlooking the 12th hole with a sea view. All the staff were very professional and attentive - housekeeping, wait staff, reception and porters. The breakfasts were exceptional. We only ate in the hotel on two nights as although the food was wonderful- fresh and high quality- the prices were very steep. We took a taxi into Playa San Juan and ate in the local restuarants there for less than half the price. We also ate at Atlantico restuarant at the golf club (free shuttle from the hotel) which was very good quality and considerably cheaper.

This is the best hotel on Tenerife and the 4th time I have stayed there. Everything you would expect from a Ritz Carlton, great rooms,service is good except checking in can be a bit slow, delicious breakfast, decent beach and beach restaurant and a short taxi to the livelier places if you want to go out.

Great hotel, excellent staff and beautiful setting for golf! We are in local village most nights as meals and drinks in hotel ridiculous prices but did not deter from our holiday as excellent restaurants I. San Juan. Our only issue would be a quiet area designated for adults only at breakfast as far too noisy and chaotic in main area!!! Otherwise great hotel 👍

Hotel being renovated, room ok but fridge didn’t work! Good facilities, good food but half board not good value as no sides included.

We have stayed at Abama on a number of occasions. The hotel is excellent; we were in newly refurbished rooms which were beautiful. We ate in most of the restaurants - service, food and wine excellent.

Villa Rooms are excellently located and we had an exclusive use of a buggy but in fairness we did not use it a lot as there was a car service up to the golf club which worked well. Restaurants were well run and the staff and service was excellent. We will definitely return

Best hotel in Tenerife but probably also the most expensive but its worth every penny! Its a Ritz Carlton so as expected the staff/service are excellent. The standard rooms are great and the breakfast is fab! Pools and bars and beach restaurant are all really nice and they transfer you up to the golf course - 5 minutes up the hill either by minibus or give you a 4 passenger buggy.

We enjoyed the pools, the beach and the restaurant despite the high prices.

Just returned from a week in an ocean view suite and it was fantastic-a super room in a magnificent hotel with lots great staff. The restaurants offer a large variety of high quality dishes to suit all tastes. We look forward to returning next January

We have stayed at Abama several times and have to say that it is truly a 5 star experience. The staff always remember your name and make your stay all the more enjoyable. We will return in the future to enjoy the great food and wonderful sunsets.

The Abama is a tropical paradise. Not only does it have a superior golf course with very testing greens, it is a resort where you can truly relax. The private beach and lagoon, the ample swimming pools, the many places you can eat and drink make the resort very special. All the staff who we had the pleasure to come across during our stay were exemplary in every way, nothing was too much trouble and they were all so happy and friendly, without exception. It was our first trip there and will certainly not be the last, we loved it.

Brilliant stay at the hotel, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The only down fall was the distance from the main nightlife spots in Tenerife but this is very minor.

Nice hotel, great breakfast but bars and restaurants are too expensive

Hotel was lovely and staff faultless. I thought the range of in house restaurants limited unless you wanted Michelin Star type food every night. Plenty of restaurants in nearby village. Beach club was in a lovely position but needed better organizing and a make over!

Excellent hotel - we have visited a number of times before. Choice of restaurants is superb. Accommodation is wonderful - recommend a seaview room.

Beautiful hotel

The food in all the restaurants was well above average. Although large this is a well designed resort. Not much to do if you don’t play golf or tennis.

Located 25 min from airport, hotel looks like an African mud palace. Rooms are modern and airconditioned but corridors are open to natural ventilation which makes a really nice link to the sea breezes. Restaurants and staff are excellent but we took a taxi into town every evening to eat in local, well priced and quality restaurants.

First Class

I love this hotel and have stayed twice already this year but this time I was a bit disappointed as there was a lot of renovation work going on. The normal breakfast room was closed so breakfast was in a much smaller room with queues for the toaster etc. There was work going on by one of the pools and big renovation work in the reception area which was unattractive and noisy. I understand that they need to get these things done but from a 5 star hotel I expect better. Staff were as professional and charming as ever and the bedroom and bathroom wonderful.

The hotel is fantastic. Very luxurious and so clean. Very good facilities. Many restaurants to choose from but quite expensive. Drink was quite expensive also. The golf course is challenging but in great condition.

A most enjoyable experience. This hotel was as good as any we have stayed at.There was not a single thing that we could comment on negatively.The restaurants were with the possible exception of the Spanish restaurant all excellent and we would specifically mention the fish restaurant.

This hotel is excellent. Service very friendly and efficient. Not all the restaurants were open but we had plenty of choice and the quality of the food throughout was very good - exceptional for the Japanese Michelin starred restaurant. Not cheap although not as expensive as we had been led to believe.

I had a touch of food poisoning which had me in bed for a day. No fun. However the staff were magnificent and the hotel very comfortable.

The greens are extremly hard to play. For high handicapper is to difficult to play, therefore the speed is very slow. More then 5 hours to play

Shocking experience due to a 5hour 45min round and had 3sets of 4 players on each tee from the 8th hole. And waited 25 minutes on the 18th tee to play the last hole in the dark.Very frustrating

THE GREENS WHERE GREAT THE BEST OUT OF THE 3 ROUNDS

The greens were so fast as to be almost unplayable, as I think they had been cut short for a competition. The whole group only scored very low stableford points.

Was amazing Golf travel however didn’t advise us that the greeens were to be under maintenance during our visit which restricted us to only 9 holes played twice. Brilliant course excellent staff and condition the best in Tenerife by far

The staff were getting the course ready for the ladies pga tournament so the greens were extremely fast. Too fast for our standard of golf.

A fantastic course with some very challenging and enjoyable holes. Course was in tremendous condition. Greens were very hard but that was part of the fun.

Wonderful everything except the greens were punched and sanded. After each hole your balls was scratched and you couldn’t even land a spinny chip/pitch without it rolling. They turned a monumental par 5 into a par 3 due to reconstruction and that was and is a big disappointment - also not getting a discount due to it.

We have played here often. The soft green surfaces were entirely replaced in 2024 with new hard wearing greens which require less watering. Unfortunately, the contours remain the same, with the pace stimping at around 14, which means that, at best, it is crazy putting. That apart course was beautifully presented. Driving range continues to deteriorate - mats badly scuffed and all plastic tees broken - given the green fees, having to pay extra for a few warm up balls is not good. Unfortunately, two of the best holes have been reduced to a short par 4 and a 3, for H&S reasons. I suspect a third (hole 9) may go the same way as even more houses being built very close to fairway. On a more positive note, the clubhouse has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Course was reasonably quiet so pace was very good.

Fast greens but overall best course on the island.

Absolutely beautiful course. The best of the 3 we played. A proper championship course with beautiful fairways and greens.

This course is beautiful with sea views on almost every hole and very well maintained but the greens are very difficult.They are all cut very short and slope in different directions so are extremely fast!The fairways are also cut short and the ball rolls a lot... not necessarily a good thing!

A pretty tough course, changes in elevation and very fast greens. Would be difficult for the average golfer. It was good fun and the facilities were very good.

From arrival felt very special, when mentioned name and tee time immediately took our clubs and put on buggies. Water and Ice in cool boxes! Offered an earlier start as course was busy. Locker rooms were spotless and well appointed. Course was immaculate. Speaking to other golfers on the tee - who also rated it highly - warned us about the greens. They weren't wrong. Course in excellent condition. Greens trecherious. A challenging course but a wonderful day.

In our opinion the best course on the island very challenging and also very well presented with great views along the way. We will most definitely be returning to Abama golf course👍

Having been here previously I was disappointed this time. They are putting housing developments before the course and have shortened 2 holes which was not great. I don’t think it is worth the money so won’t be posing there again

Challenging course

A very tough test of golf, especially the lightening speed greens! Shame about the two “shortened” holes, hopefully Abama can get them back to full length somehow

What a fantastic track - but not a course for the beginner. On a couple of occasions we had to endure five-hour rounds because the group(s) in front were novices who did not know what they were doing. The holes from tee to green are great for high and low handicappers alike, but the greens are the fastest and most unforgiving we have ever played. Not complaining though; they are a great test of putting ability, and you will soon figure them out after a couple of rounds. Thanks also must go to the attentive and courteous caddy masters.

This course is immaculate and well maintained. You need good course management to plot your way round and avoid a big score. Some tricky greens to putt on. I would definitely recommend playing here.

Abama is such a good golf course, the greens are perfect, quick and undulating. The whole course is in excellent condition, there is a good driving range, buggies have gps and the clubhouse and terrace are just what you want after the golf. Thanks to Billy for organising everything for us.

A stunning course with excellent facilities. The greens are impossible to stop your ball on if you land above the hole. Hard to justify the green fees unless you have very deep pockets.

There were 3 of us but each day they added a golfer to make us a four ball which was not ideal as my wife is a beginner

A ‘complete’ golfing experience. Whilst it is obviously an expensive place to play it was ‘streets’ ahead of the other courses we visited

Lovely holiday golf course completely spoilt by non golfers being allowed to play and failing to keep up with pace of play. Played 4 rounds and the average round time was 4 hours 45 mins.

Beautiful course but the greens are very difficult. Not only are they very fast but they are so hard to read. The course itself was immaculate. There was only one day when the play was very slow and took over five and a half hours but I think you have to expect this when so many people are playing. In spite of this, we really enjoyed playing here.

Adeje and Abama were similar. Both recommended and would come to play again.

Amazing course, greens were good but a little shabby in places compared with the quality of everything else.

We were concerned last year that the pace of the greens were simply too quick for the severe slopes. This has been improved and course was very playable, but still challenging. A minor irritation but you need to find a euro to put in the ball machine for a few balls to warm up. Should be included in the green fee - which is not cheap.

A great course and in Feb/Mar the greens are lightning fast as it is their growing season, and they cut the greens extremely short. The round was about 3.5 hrs as a two ball which is quick. Not cheap but definitely worth a play and once you have played it you will want to play it again without doubt

SO SLOW!!. We only played 15 and came off as we were worried about getting a taxi back in time for dinner. 6 hr round

It was so good but pretty difficult. Lots of bunkers and brutally difficult greens but not that long and in excellent condition. Buggies were great all with gps and you could drive on the fairways just had to come off short of the greens. The starter and buggy staff and bar staff and shop staff were all excellent. All 4 balls so if you are a 2 you will get paired up and there were no spare slots with 10 mins intervals. You defo need YGT to book your slots in advance. Practice range was ok 1 euro for 25 balls. The weather end Feb was great all played in shorts. Its expensive but for top quality golf/hotel 4 hours from Gatwick it was perfect.

excellant course , plays a lot longer than yardage on card due to sloping fairways and elevated greens .Very fast greens with multiple slopes perhaps to fast for the slopes only comparison i can make is with copperhead in Florida which ran at 14 .You would need to be extremely fit to walk the course , with buggies we still averaged around 11,000 steps a day .Suggest this course is a must for any golf holiday in Tenerife great challenge .

Abama was a disappointment. Although superficially top quality, with fantastic views, the lightning fast greens and silly pin placement on many holes made it unenjoyable and almost unplayable for anyone other than low handicappers who knew where to land the ball and had enough skill to do it. Clubhouse food and drink prices were about twice those elsewhere. We wouldn't go back.

A very challenging course with a lot of blind holes and incredibly fast, undulating greens. Not very good for beginners

Although we had been booked in for two players for three rounds, we were told that only one of us was booked. They made a bit of a fuss about squeezing us in on the first two days but admitted it was their fault. We were two on the original paperwork with Your Golf Travel but on the starting sheet there was only one of us. To help them out, Christine agreed not to play on the third day as they said there was no way they could fit us both in but they agreed that we should get a refund for this. All in all not very satisfactory.

Enjoyed 3 rounds this week and loved every one. The steep slopes took some getting used to (we live and play in the flatlands of East Anglia!) but if you think about ball positioning rather than using brute strength for your shots it’s a fair course which is kept to the highest quality. All of the staff on and off the course were very friendly and we can’t wait for returning next January

Attractive course and one for good golfers. A slow round but a reflection of the style of course rather than anything else (and that’s the view of the scratch handicapper in our group)

This is a great facility, I've been lucky enough to play golf at some of the best courses in the world Abama ranks with best. Special mention to the all the staff, golf and catering, for exceptional service. Probably the best views of any golf course anywhere.

The course is in exceptional condition and in comparison with the other courses we have played in South Tenerife it is superior. All the holes are different and interesting and though they appear playable they do have a bite as it’s the greens which provide the most challenge. It is undulating and there is a quite a distance between greens and tees so the buggy which is included in the green fee is certainly needed. There are good practice facilities the range balls were only 1€ for 30. We played 5 rounds and enjoyed the challenge every time.

Staff friendly and attentive. Wasn't warned that we would be made to make up a 4 ball before arrival. Course was very busy and pace slow. Scenary was lovely

We have played this course on many occasions, when greens and surrounds were playable. Putting this time was silly - greens stimping around 11 - impossible to stay on some greens as they are so sloping. Could entertain you with crazy scores - hit par 3 to 15 feet and effortlessly take a 6. Now charging to hit a few warm up balls which is nonsense given the green fees. Excellent course but very difficult to score - certainly worth playing.

We found the course in excellent condition but challenging. We felt that, considering the cost of a round,were disappointed that we were teamed up with another couple on all but one round when we were offered a tee time late in the day. The staff were excellent: courteous and helpful.

Beautiful and challenging course

A very clever design with a 300 metre drop from top to bottom. A buggy is the only option and 41/2 hours a round is the norm. Lovely views but a tricky track.

Still an amazing track. Challenging but with amazing views. The greens are undulating and fast! A great day. Over priced maybe in comparison with other courses nearby but a must to play at least once.

We enjoyed our four games during our week. I thought that the course was a delight to play. The only reason for mentioning that the rounds were slow was we were a two ball following fours.Staff were helpfull and obliging. Overall a pleasure and one that we would wish to repeat.

We really enjoyed the course. Good condition and from the yellow tees testing enough for holiday golf with some good driving holes. All well organised. The course is quiet in summer when the resort is more a conventional holiday destination, busier I was told in winter when it is more golf. We had one round in 3 1/2 hours - fantastic. Only one course - we had 4 days of golf which was fine - more than that and you might need more variety. Good practice area with free balls

Wonderful golf course with fantastic views. We loved it. Very difficult though.

It is a great golf course in excellent condition. The 10 minute gaps between tee times ensures that play is comfortable with no hassle.
