Aberdovey Golf Club

Like many links courses created around the turn of the twentieth century, Aberdovey is very much an out and back loop, and is affected distinctly by the elements. The wind coming off the bay can range from a gentle breeze to a howling gale, transforming the character of the course in turn.

New tees for 2007 have lengthened the existing James Braid layout in the hope of attracting more tournament golf to the links; having previously hosted a number of national amateur events, Aberdovey is a well established championship venue.

Visitors to Aberdovey are often enchanted by the atmosphere and setting of the club, which is unfussy and unpretentious. Add to this the superb course, and it is clear why so many choose Aberdovey as part of a fantastic golf tour on the Welsh coast.

Aberdovey is ranked as one of the best courses in Wales

Course was in wonderful condition. A real challenge from the tee on the first 9 given the narrow fairways and strong headwind. Greens a joy to putt on. Great experience !!

Wonderful course. The dunes holes are up there with the very best. It was a windy with strong gusts but very sunny and the area and course looked amazing . My round got brown away by wind . Holes into or wind strong across were so tough . Despite a poor score i loved it .

Everyone loved this course, great condition, classic links course, out and back. Weather was poor which was a shame as it was the best course we played. Shout out for the staff in the pro shop too, very friendly and welcoming.

We had a great time here. As soon as we walked in the pro shop, Adam introduced himself and gave us some info and good pointers about the course and clubhouse. The course was in great condition considering the lack of rain, the greens were pure.

Had a lovely lunch in the clubhouse, round took over 5 hours due to being stuck behind 3 ladies who despite losing goodness knows how many balls made no offer at all to wave us through.

Sunny and windy conditions, as they should be. Lots of great holes and mostly clear to the first time visitor. Would love to play again. Great welcome in pro shop and clubhouse, clear pride in their gem of a course.

What can I say except outstanding in every sense of the word. From tee to green I cannot fault this course. Packed with character with amazing Greens. The course will test every part of your game. The shortness of the course doesn’t take away it’s difficulty with what the locals called a gentle breeze. Felt a lot longer than it is.

The greens were superb. A really good variety of holes on this course making for a challenging but enjoyable round. We didnt have any wind at all on the day so I’m sure this wasn’t typical of how the course normally plays. Best course out of the 3 that we played in Wales

To say the amount of rain we had in the hours before the round, the coarse held up brilliantly. Really enjoyed the course and the staff were great.
