The Algarve region of Portugal is a paradise for golfers and the Amendoeira Golf Resort is a prime example of what makes the area such a great destination. Attention to detail is the key to the success of this resort with golf courses by Nick Faldo, Christy O’Connor Jr. and the region’s only floodlit par-3 course.
Found just 15-minutes from the beautiful beaches of southern Portugal with fabulous views to the magnificent Monchique Mountains, Amendoeira Golf Resort is home to luxurious 4-star apartments & villas and lends itself well to both a family trip and a group of friends getting some Portuguese heat in for their golfing holiday.
The Faldo course was awarded the Best Course in Portugal in 2016 by the World Golf Awards and consistently ranked as a top 100 course in Continental Europe. Only thirty minutes from Faro airport and just over two hours from Lisbon, this great golf resort is in a great spot to do some exploring of Portugal in general.

The best British player of the modern era has a distinct design philosophy, as he seeks to present a challenge to every player; however, he achieves this not simply through extreme length, but by demanding that the golfer exercises some strategy and thought.
The Faldo Course at the Amendoeria Resort is a pristine championship layout that deservedly won the “Best Course in Portugal” award. This is an incredible accolade considering how many top courses there are nearby.
Waste bunkers, large fairway/greenside bunkers and water hazards all play a role in protecting this course. You will find some soft terrain changes and luscious vegetation adding interesting visual aspects to the course too. The Faldo is as much fun to behold as it is to play, it is a very visually pleasing golf course.
The 12th hole is one of the most enjoyable holes on the course. It starts strong with a raised tee-shot down over woodland toward exposed boulders in the terraced land. The short par-4 then requires a tee-shot to a raised green perched on the horizon inviting approach shots. The hole is decorated with white sand bunkers and the green is protected by a beautiful cork oak tree.

Oceanico O'Connor
The undisputed highlight of the O’Connor Course is the designer’s take on Augusta National’s ‘Amen Corner’ – holes 7, 8 and 9 are skirted at various points by a great lake which snakes its way dangerously through three splendid holes.
The O'Connor course is the perfect companion to the Faldo course and sits in a wonderful fertile valley. This course is the same length as The Faldo and provides a slightly different golfing experience. The main features of the course are the various water hazards and the mature palm trees dotted around. You will have to contend with both rivers and large ponds so accuracy is key.
One of the highlights of the course are the large contoured greens, these will test you. The course starts with a nice-length par-5, always a good chance to get your round off to a good start and there is plenty of room from the tee to let you settle into your round.
The final hole on the front-9 is a cracker. A right to left dogleg awaits with water on the left giving you something to avoid from the tee. If this scares you and you bail-out to the right then three small fairway bunkers may gather-up your ball and give you trouble for your second. This is a fairly long par-4 which requires solid golf from start to finish. The water hazard on the left extends the length of the hole and another one awaits approach shots that are over-hit. A testing hole where par is a good score.

Academy Course
Have you ever played golf under floodlights? If not, now is your chance and it is an opportunity not to miss. This par-3 course is the perfect place to sharpen your scoring skills or to play with beginners in your group. Like the other courses at the Amendoeria Resort, you will walk off this course smiling.
The 7th hole features a tee shot over a water hazard. Two teeing options on this hole let you take on the pond or avoid it depending on your skill level. If you don’t have time for a full round or just fancy a bit of practice, this course comes highly recommended. When the dust has settled and you’ve counted up your strokes, the terraces at The Clubhouse give you a great setting to wind down and sip on something refreshing. The lower terrace overlooks the final green so it’s perfect for watching other members of your group finishing their round and putting some pressure on them as they finish.
Facilities & Clubhouse
The Clubhouse is one of the main features of the resort and is a great place to grab some food. With huge windows, the bar/restaurant area is bright and airy making it a great place to sit and eat with friends/family.
The restaurant opens at 7am and serves all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner. Golfers can purchase drinks and snacks from the golf buggy bar which goes around the golf courses regularly and post-golf drinks can be enjoyed on the spacious terrace which has stunning views over the golf courses or at the greenside spike bar.
Inside, you can have all-day breakfast as well as a la carte lunch and dinner options to fuel your relaxation. The Clubhouse is adjacent to the golf facilities and designed so that both courses start and finish at the building.
The spacious changing room facilities in The Clubhouse have everything you need before and after your round. Once you’re all set to play, go and visit the pro shop to stock up on anything you require for a round. Buggies are available and a free driving range gives you the space to warm-up before you head out.
Be sure to make full use of the putting green too as the greens can get pretty quick out there and you don’t want to be taken by surprise. The staff in the shop are on hand to help make sure you have everything you need before you tee it up.

The 2 bedroom apartments exceeded expectations. They were modern and clean and had all the mod cons we required. The shuttle bus service to the main reception was quick and efficient, but it was also only a 7min walk to get to/from the accomodation and the main reception. The breakfast was also great with plenty of choice for continental and cooked breakfasts.

Great Villa equipped with everything we needed. Lovely pool.
10 / 10
Great resort and accommodation. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a three bed duplex. Very spacious and well equipped. Although located at the furthest point from the club house the free shuttle worked really well and we were close to a pool to grab some relaxation after golf. Apartment on first floor overlooked golf courses so spectacular views.
10 / 10
Very good facilities and super rooms, group of 8 ladies in 2 apartments with 2 bedrooms and en-suites in both . There is a Shuttle bus to get you around whenever you need one and everyone helpful and friendly. Rooms are very well equipped however just no basics like washing up liquid or cleaning cloths if you are intending to use your crockery etc. The supermarket is off the resort and is a €30 round trip which is very overpriced. I would definitely go to this resort again for the golf but would take a few kitchen essential items with me… just something to think about to save money and make it more comfortable as in any apartment. The pool area was very good and there are shower facilities both at the pool and in the main hotel if you need to use them if you don’t want to back to your room before dinner. Clubs can be left in racks at reception for taking back to rooms later. Really useful to take advantage of if your game runs later. We stayed this week ie; early October when it gets darker quicker so this is not an issue if you go in the height of summer when you can still be out there at 8-9pm for example.

Staff slow and repeatedly get things wrong in the restaurant/bar. Made a drink completely wrong and weren't all all pleased when I sent it back.
8 / 10
Very spacious, great pool but very hard bed.
It was a bit of a faff having to get shuttles back and forth from accommodation to food etc. Also very quiet on an evening.

Apartments were sumptuous and superbly equipped.

From start to finish our experience of our group holiday was fantastic. From booking with YGT to all aspects of are holiday were perfect and at a price that was such good value. 10/10
10 / 10
They are individual apartments, that are very nice , everything is top notch
8 / 10
The apartment was excellent. Spaciuos and modern. Kitchen with everything you might want, large lounge and quiet patio/garden area.
Staff at the reception/restaurant were attentive, and friendly. The quality and choice of food was better than most golf resorts I've been too.
You need a car to get around as the apartments are some distance from the golf/restaurant.

The shuttle service ruined an otherwise excellent trip for us. It is terrible and the staff are very rude when trying g to request its service. One bus for the whole resort with drivers able to go awol is simply not good enough. We missed breakfast on two occasions after a 40 minute delay for the shuttle and need to get to our morning tee times.
Otherwise rooms and food are all very good.

The oven needs replacing. The beds need replacing. Flickering lightbulb outside. Ants in bedrooms. Door shelf in fridge is broken. Airport driver was one hour late picking us up. Made us lose out in morning golf options. Airport driver at end of trip brought vehicle that was too small. Journey was unsafe as we had cases piled high and golf club travel bags across our laps. Very unsafe.
Overall....good...but needs improvement. Hotel needs to have more shuttle drivers available in high season. Crazy the shuttling just stops during mealtime.

Excellent venue, great clubhouse that's reasonably priced with a good choice of food post-round. Buffet breakfast is good (unless you arrive at the last minute). Accommodation is excellent, we had two balconies overlooking the course, and all the amenities needed. The one issue is the shuttlebus. We were right at the far end of the resort, and my gammy leg stopped walking being an option. The shuttlebus driver takes his breaks very seriously, not much good when you need to get to a tee time! A big frustration for otherwise an excellent experience.
10 / 10
The hotel was lovely and the staff were great. Stunning views and the golf courses and club house met and surpassed expectations.
Location is a bit isolated, with no shop on site to buy basics which wasn't ideal as it led to buying what the bar/ course had which was a bit over priced, but other than that we could not fault resort.
10 / 10
Perfect for our group as we could each have our own room. The duplex accommodation was very modern, clean and spacious. The shuttle service was great with helpful staff. Breakfast included and provided plenty of choice

Apartments were of really good quality. Location slightly isolated but a 25 minute taxi to Albufeira. Shuttle takes you around the complex, but they only have one which can cause some delays at busy times - they need more. One particular time we were told to wait for 40 mins at the academy course post sun-set as the driver was having his dinner! Had to order an Uber to go 2km in the complex which was a bit of an inconvenience.

Hotel and resoort was exemplary and possible the best golf package I have ever experienced.
Very happy with the whole package. I would within a heartbeat go back to Amendoeira Golf resort. I was so impressed.
Big thanks too Mark at 'YourGolfTravel' as he helped me get the package set up before the holiday

Good food and drink in the bars fairly priced for a resort. Shuttle service is hassle free and a tip goes a long way for the drivers

Stayed for 4 days on site in apartment.
Excellent accommodation.
Shuttle service available by simple phone call...very efficient.
Golf clubs left within starters area...
Very nice outside bar area upstairs... together with restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
Good quality food and drinks.
Overall pricing superb would thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic resort and the apartment we stayed in was perfect. Staff very friendly. Food and drinks at the resort were great quality although a bit pricey compared to the nearest town we went into one afternoon.

Great experience in a great location.
Apartment whilst not luxurious was excellent. Very well appointed and very clean. Only minor criticism was that it could have done with a few more kitchen accessories like dishcloth / tea towels and cleaning materials
Generally though very good.
Staff superb throughout resort.
Breakfasts really good , ate in restaurant once , food very good but expensive.
In the main self catered.

Clean and roomy. Uncomfortable beds for a 4* resort.
Excellent food and service. Lovely staff always prepared to help you.
Awful driving range nothing like the photos! And 5euros a small bucket!
Be aware I paid for the ‘Unlimited Golf Package’ this is a total rip off in peak season as you can’t get a tee time and range balls not included & 100 euros to turn on the lights for night golf!!!
This is a great resort but speaking to some of the staff the Management aren’t Golfers and the experience will leave you feeling short changed.
Your Golf Travel should tell you about these details as they make all the difference when your on a family Holiday!

10 / 10
Great place to stay for golf. Its a bit remote and would need a car to get to a shop.
10 / 10
The place is fantastic. Beautiful scenery, well kept, peaceful. The apartments are fab, we had three two bed apartments and they were spacious, clean and a great place to spend time recovering from the previous nights excesses in the morning. Clubhouse is great, lots of helpful staff, lunch and evening food menus great and pricing not bad at all for a semi captive audience.
Ubers made getting lit pretty simple, the only thing is if you needed anything aside from beers and food, it may be a bit of a drag getting down to somewhere to pick bits up. That is a tiny negative however in what overall is a great place.

Been here so many times and the quality is excellent and consistent
6 / 10
The customer service by staff at Amendoeira is awful, there never seemed to be a moment when they said "yes we can do this", and everything was a money making decision. Unlimited golf but you have to pay for buggies for a second round on courses that are impossible to walk, buggies then came late so late for the tee times, surely they know how many buggies they need? Just seem to be short all the time. Also no late check out available even though there were loads of apartments that were unused.
10 / 10
Second trip to Amendoeira this year and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Facilities are great for a golf trip. I didn’t leave the complex during my 5 days. The food was excellent and with 22 degree temperatures in the evening ate in the terrace every night. Will definitely be back
8 / 10
Overall our stay at Amendoeira was pleasant. The hotel rooms are high specification and spacious. The food in the main restaurant was decent however breakfast was fairly average. Service in the bar especially at peak time is slow.
8 / 10
Perfect venue for our small group, beautiful setting with all the facilities you need.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the club house bar served great snacks to enjoy after the round with a beer and some stunning views. The two bed apartment we stayed in was perfect and we never waited longer than 5 mins for the shuttle. It was very quiet while we were there so didn’t wait on any shot while playing golf. Complimentary buggies were a nice touch and were definitely needed. Would certainly come again. If you need a livelier night out Albufeira was only a 30 euro taxi away.
8 / 10
The rooms were very nice, super clean and came woth everything we would have wanted, the only minor negative would be how hard the beds were, other than that fantastic. All staff relating to reception, transfers and golf were amazing and always super helpful. However, the restaurant bar staff not so much, the manager always looked like he didn't want to be there and wasn't particularly hospitable. He didn't smile once in our 3 day stay. The resort is in a great location for golf, only downside is in order to go anywhere outside the resort a taxi is required, nowhere is in walking distance. Another downside would probably be the quality of the rental equipment and the related excesses. Both our clubs and the padel equipment we borrowed was in rather poor condition. Multiple clubs had cracking and splitting shafts which made us scared to use them incase they broke on us and we were charged, bringing me onto our second negative. The club excess amounts were crazy high and well above market value for a good quality club let alone the state they were in. It was €600 for a broken driver which you could pick up on golfbidder for €200 in better condition. They were all generation 1 Taylormade Sim clubs.

Excelent Villa. Brilliant shuttle service to and fro the clubhouse avalable at a moments notice too.
10 / 10
Great Resort, the villas were amazing and modern. Very spacious too
8 / 10
My son and I have now spent a week in Amendoeira for the past six years and will continue to go back. The two courses are challenging, each in a different way, and the clubhouse facilities are excellent. The snack menu is very good and full of variety. This year the snack menu is taken away at 7.00pm and replaced with a dinner menu with more "up market" food and slightly higher prices. For those playing an afternoon round which can take to 5 hours in the peak season, that can be inconvenient.
The apartments are very clean, spacious and have everything you would need if you want to self cater.
A very prompt shuttle service takes you from your apartment to the clubhouse.
The complimentary buggies make a big difference, though this year they have introduced a 15 Euro charge if you want a buggy for a second round on the same day.
8 / 10
Whilst a touch remote, the resort more than matched our expectations for the budget.
10 / 10
Accommodation (we had a 1 bed apartment) was superb - high standard of furniture, all appliances etc provided, 100% clean/new. The clubhouse is fantastic - brilliant breakfasts, evening dining, lots of staff, service fast from excellent staff. VERY high quality.
8 / 10
The staff were supper friendly and helpful. The apartment was excellent and spacious. The food was good but the menu in the restaurant could have been more expansive to cater for those that had no hire car and could only dine at the resort.

We booked to stay here for 4 nights with unlimited golf which was 2 round on O'Connor and 2 rounds on the Faldo. The highlight of the stay was the apartment, it was very spacious and modern great for 3/4 people. The golf courses I would say where ok/good. They where a bit rough round the edges and beat up but overall they where fine. The breakfast was rubbish tbh the standard of it was not great, would recommend sticking to the fruit and yogurt as there where small fly's all over the pastry section and around the hot plate areas. One morning we grabbed a banana from the fruit section to take away for our tee time and the manager came over to us and told us not to "steal" Bananas and we have paid for the privilege to eat in the buffet area not to take it with us was beyond a joke to say the least, our package was half board so we had paid for the breakfast but got in to trouble for taking a banana away, he was very rude as well, maybe he had a bad morning god knows. The buggies are very dated with the onboard screen not working and when it did gave you very little information. Would I return no, was it worth the money no, but was it a golfing trip away with my mates and we made the most of it, yes.
6 / 10
11th time visiting, great accommodation apart from we were moved to the very end of the resort which we very early tee times booked means we had 10mins for breakfast. Biggest disappointment was now buggies are chargeable. This was not explained at the time of booking. Spending 45 euros on buggy’s was a big part of my holiday budget. Food service was very poor. Evening meals were over an hour wait. Order’s continually wrong with mixed quality when the food arrived. One night my burger turned up pink inside after waiting 90mins. I sent it back and although I did get an apology from the manager after 36 holes of golf I wasn’t happy. Shuttle service has new vans which was good, reception friendly and helpful. Booking tee times was very tough this year. We had 3 booked rounds but we ended up playing the last two holes on the Faldo on Tuesday in the dark (which was an experience) as the earliest tee time was 3.15

The accommodation was excellent and comfortable. It is ideal for a golf break for golf societies as all you want is in one resort.
10 / 10
We were in a two bed room apartment that was large, very comfortable well furnished and had everything that you would need apart from tea and coffee! There is no where to buy anything on site. We were there four nights during that time the rooms weren't serviced.
Breakfast in the clubhouse was buffet style and excellent, something there for everyone. We had a meal in the clubhouse on our first night which was fine but the menu is quite limited. Unless you have a car then taxis are the only way to get a a restaurant outside. Reception staff were very helpful organising taxis and restaurant recommendations.
Overall we felt the hotel and golf package was really good value for money.
10 / 10
Modern apartments that have everything you need for your trip—in fact they are good enough that you could easily stay there permanently!!

Nothing Negative to say, staff were all good, the shuttle service to and from the apartments is quick and the food is decent. I would stay here again 7/10

Amazing apartment!

Nice accommodation, lack of choice on restaurants on site is a problem imo, daytime menu is better than evening offering which is a little odd, apparently resort just been sold so may be better to come
8 / 10
We fortunately were given an upgrade to a 2 bedroom Villa at the resort which was great.
Annoyingly neither of the 2 key cards provided by Reception worked & we had to wait 40 mins before we could gain access to the Villa.
However once we settled in the Villa setup & facilities were good.

I have been to this resort many times and it doesn’t cease to live up to past experiences

The hotel is probably run by accountants, as it seems they are economizing on everything. No daily room service, two toilet rolls for two people for 4 days, no tokens for the practise range in spite of the deal, poor service in the bar etc

Excellent as per normal, excellent shuttle service although very busy and long wait at weekend

A good base for a golfing break. Unfortunately the Faldo Course was closed for maintenance but otherwise a good experience
10 / 10
Fantastic 2 bed apartment in the complex. The resort was very well run with efficient operation of the shuttle service, caddymaster and everything to do with our golf reservation. Service on the terrace and in the restaurant was also top notch. We will be back!
6 / 10
The resort itself is excellent, lovely accommodation. Exceptionally clean and well equipped villas, shuttle service works very well between villas and the clubhouse. The reception staff are ok but not professional enough for a resort of this calibre, both course were excellent with true running quick greens. However the bunkers were very poor with nowhere near enough sand in them, the majority had no more than 10mm of sand before you hit the matting. Extremely hard to play out of for 10 handicappers and almost impossible for 18+ players. The restaurant/bar was absolutely diabolical every day of our 5night stay. On entering the bar after our round we had to wait at least half an hour before we were approached by any staff, we were encouraged not to visit the bar but wait for bar staff to come to the table. Orders were regularly wrong and not cheap at €5/6 per pint, the food was expensive for what it was. Portion sizes were irregular and small and often one or two meals were missing when the group was presented with their meal. The staff shortages were definitely obvious and there are major problems that need to be addressed. We witnessed multiple complaints every day from golfers regarding waiting times for beverages. Our group of 8 ended up getting a taxi into Albefuira every night to hand over our €400 to professional restaurants that gave us top quality meals and service, maybe a little more expensive but worth every euro. I wouldn’t advise anyone to go to this resort until the bar/restaurant issues have been resolved, a shoddy service that lets down an otherwise fantastic golfing experience. The service provided by YGT was superb in every way and went without any hitch at all, highly recommended.

Apartments are great. Food in the restaurant was not great. Need to get a taxi to other shops, bars and restaurants

The service from staff was so different from what i have experienced in the past 5 years here.
Ordering a simple round of drinks was an exercise in its own right.
We sent 3 meals back as they were terrible.
We ended up eating out each day.

Villas were absolutely brilliant and ideal for a short weekend stay. Unfortunately the service at the golf club was very poor and one area which the golf club needs to improve.

Was our 3rd visit here but not as good as previously. Resort itself is great on the whole but has few little issues this time round. Our 1st apartment had none of electrics working so we had to be moved. The 2nd apartment still had some electric issues and one of the beds was a double instead of a twin as required.
The biggest issue however was with the buggies. They clearly do not have enough of them and overbook the tee times. If you have a tee time after midday you are likely to have around an hours delay as there are no buggies available and you just have to sit around and wait. The staff were unhelpful and simply shrugged their shoulders and said you could walk the course if you wanted, which is not really feasible.
However, on the whole would still recommend the resort overall if you don't mind a bit of a wait for your afternoon tee time.

The accommodation was spectacular as usual. There has been a takeover and the bar and restaurant staff have changed. They were unprofessional and discourteous. The reception staff were helpful and charming. This is my third visit and , I dare say, my last.

The staff in the hotel didn't look or seem like they were trained. We had many mistakes over drinks and meals and overall the service was poor and very slow. That being said, when the food came, it was amazing.
10 / 10
Outstanding venue for a golf trip. The only qualm is how relatively quiet the resort is, which is great for the golf, but not so much for things to do of an evening.
10 / 10
Needs a better poolside bar

6 / 10
The best way to describe the hotel is ‘fine’.
Accommodation
The apartment was clean, and functional. Beds/showers all okay. The property is huge so you have to ring for a transfer every time you want to go somewhere, which is annoying, especially in the morning when it can take 15 mins to arrive due to being busy. But that’s a minor issue.
Food/bar
The food is very average. While not bad as such, it’s plain and a bit budget - we didn’t want to eat there every night. The wine list is not good, and the staff, while full of good intentions, were a bit amateur. All in all, the catering was a little underwhelming.
Facilities
We wanted to play tennis a decent amount, and have to say the courts are atrocious. They look good from a distance for sure, but if you’re into your tennis you’ll be disappointed. They need relaid pronto - the bounce is seriously inconsistent!
Golf
The golf is by far the best bit. Good facilities, good buggies and two courses that off the back tees are seriously demanding. Well laid out, good condition and interesting.
Conclusion
If the quality of food and beverage is of little interest then this place is great. If it is, then be wary. It’s remote and if like us you end up wanting to go out to eat you’re looking a 30minute and expensive taxi to a local town. And of course taxis aren’t super reliable over there. We had one who turned up an hour late and then didn’t bother picking us us when it had been arranged.

This was our first golf trip and we had a great time at Amendoeira. The resort itself is really impressive, the staff were attentive (however, the resort wasn’t full and I could see why other visitors at busier times may have had issues with slow service etc) and the accommodation was excellent.
We did have an issue with regards to a damaged buggy which caused a bit of stress - we were told we were unable to play golf until the damage was paid for, and we were only told that as we were about to tee off - prior to that we weren’t aware of any costs associated to that and it left a bit of a sour taste. Also the cost itself was pretty high (€310) for seemingly replacing a bent piece of metal. However, we were able to recoup some of those costs through complimentary extra buggies on other days and through a few free drinks.
We also had an issue where our key wouldn’t work late at night and we had to wait a long time for a new key to be brought to us. More shuttle buses and clear guidance about not putting the key cards next to your phone would be good!
All in all though, we had a great time.

Having visited this resort before most of knew what to expect and again weren’t disappointed, we had 4x6 person villas all with pools which were outstanding and everyone very impressed.
Both courses were in very good condition and were easy on the eye, buggies and driving range also very good.
The hotel staff were very helpful and understanding to our needs especially reception staff.
Only negatives were the same as a few years ago when the restaurant was busy it took along time to be served anything and sorting payment at the end took a while as long queue at the bar, all they need to do is have someone at the bar permanently taking orders and payment then there would be no queues. We were mainly there in quiet times so didn’t affect us too much.
All in all 5* resort and 5* treatment nothing was too much trouble, would definitely revisit.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment with all the facilities we could wish for if we had wanted to be self-sufficient. We had a veranda overlooking the complex and a perfect place to sit and watch the sun go down over the two folf courses while sipping the drink of you choice.
The bar and restaurant and well staffed with an excellent selection of lagers, beers and cider on draft, as well as wines and spirits (all at reasonable prices) and two menus, one for bar meals and one for more sophisticated eating. I had a tounados steak one evening and it was one of the best I've eaten.
The shuttle from the clubhouse to the apartment was very prompt and comfortable.
My only criticism would be that the bed mattresses are very, very hard. However they do offer to put on a 2 inch foam overlay to soften it.
10 / 10
Cannot fault our experience from the start dealing with Simon at your golf travel to arriving at the resort , the two courses are in a faultless condition the greens some of the purest we’ve played ( and we’ve played all over the world ) would definitely go back and will be , accommodation superb

Was looking forward to this trip for such a long time as have been many times. Initial welcome was fantastic from the airport pick up to checking in at reception. It all went wrong after this. Staff in the bar and restaurant were the worst I have ever seen. They had no idea what was going on. From order being wrong and taking an age to come out to drinks orders taking over 30minutes (there were only 6 of us). We will not be booking to come back here again.
10 / 10
The is our second visit to Amendoeira in the pass five years and all eight of us had a great four days. The resort is of a high standard and both the Faldo & O’Connor courses are in excellent condition. I would highly recommend this resort.
8 / 10
The large combo villas were very good. Very clean. Quality kitchen equipment. Lacked tea and coffee after 3rd day. Nowhere to restock.
8 / 10
I felt this was a trip of two halves. Golf wise everything was excellent, the service from your golf travel second to none and the course related staff brilliant. The bar and restaurant reasonably priced however let down by the staffing. It wasn’t a shortage of staff in my opinion but the quality/experience of the staff. With only a few exceptions many seemed unsure what to do, a lack of coordination and leadership leading to dissatisfied customers and less revenue because of this.
8 / 10
Overall our stay at this resort was very good and we may have been a little bit critical because of 1 or 2 individuals.
The staff in reception, the buffet restaurant at breakfast and the buggie store were all excellent.
However the service in the upstairs bar and patio depended upon which manager was running the shift when we were there. The staff in general in this area were not attentive enough to the golfers coming off the course with slow service of drinks orders being a common fault and the waiters not circulating amongst the golfers looking for orders.
This place is a potential gold mine for the golf facility if it was run a little bit better
8 / 10
Great facilities, friendly and responsive staff. Appeared to be understaffed in certain areas (possibly Covid related) which did result in long waits for service in restaurant and bar.
Unlimited golf is a bit of a myth - again possibly linked to staffing issues - and the likelihood of getting a 2nd round in the afternoon (even with very early tee times in the morning) was small to negligible - this was our biggest disappointed.
Would I go back - yes, the golf courses alone would bring me back.
4 / 10
Rooms weren't cleaned and no fresh towels during stay. Welcome meal was a really poor buffet. Service and quality in the restaurant and bar is patchy. Breakfast was mediocre
6 / 10
Course and facilities are great. Sadly massively let down by the service in the and restaurant. Wrong food, wait over an hour for it. Wrong drinks that may come eventually when you can order generally take around 30 mins. Ran in such a strange way. Only the manager can take food orders, drinks orders taken by staff, they come back 20 mins later and ask to check what we have ordered. Bizarre. .
8 / 10
We have been visiting Amendoeira Golf resort for many years and have always enjoyed the quality of the accommodation and the golf courses, however this will be our last visit. The service at the resort has never been great but after returning in Oct last year we were disappointed to find it had become even worse. We appreciate everyone is rebuilding after Covid and so made allowance for the fact staff may be new and still gaining experience. However returning last week 6 months on the situation has spiralled downwards to unacceptable levels. The food on the resort is still very good with the evening main menu excellent. The problem is the long waits for food and drink orders to be taken and then compounded by even longer waits for the delivery of the orders. Often staff misunderstood orders and eventually delivered the wrong food or drinks. The resort transport which is essential due to size of the resort is now inadequate to serve the requirements of the guests. Originally there were 3 minibus’s working the resort, now there is now only 1 which is falling apart and dirty.
The 2 golf courses remain excellent and challenging with fantastic greens, however once again the on course service for food and drinks is very poor
10 / 10
4th visit here thru YGT and still a great place to stay. Rooms are excellent as are the staff and facilities. My only complaint is that we normally book transport to and from the resort ourselves. Went through YGT to book this time and taxi was 45mins late to pick us up and get us to the resort.
8 / 10
The Amendoeira hotel is a great place to stay for a golf trip, the unlimited golf meant you could play any courses subject to availability with access to driving range etc. Reception staff were patient and helpful and it’s all about the golf with access to a locker room. A tip for anyone staying here - every day leave your clubs & shoes in the lockable area near the buggies and every morning walk down from breakfast, get your buggy, hook up your clubs and go play golf #easylife 🤗
The bar snack menu was varied and reasonably priced but beer was pricy at nearly £5 a pint but we kept it flowing watching the masters on the big TV screen. The “all u can eat” welcome dinner was very good as were the breakfasts. The self catering apartment was spotlessly clean and we took a taxi €30 to Aldi and stocked up on beer/food €80 and saved a fortune cooking 3 nights. (the oncourse refreshment cart charges €5 per canned beer!)
There is a nearby swimming pool to use.
The only downside is the apartment is almost at the furthest point from the clubhouse but just call reception and order the shuttle bus and it’s there in 10 mins.
8 / 10
We love this place! The apartment we stayed in was specious and very clean.
10 / 10
Apartment that we was in was very nice and clean. 10 min walk to clubhouse or wait for shuttle bus which can be a 10/15 min wait.

8 / 10
Very nicely appointed apartment. Most of the staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. Food in the restaurant perfectly good but not memorable.
10 / 10
Bar facilities lets the place down as too many taking orders and not checking who ordered and who paid food good in restaurant

10 / 10
Top-quality accommodation, the best we have had. Having an apartment to return to rather than just a room allowed you to relax a little more.
8 / 10
Very comfortable, clean and spacious apartment. It has everything you need for an extended stay, albeit we were just 5 nights. Apartments are about a mile from the clubhouse, so a shuttle bus is needed.
Food is reasonable, nothing spectacular, so half board is ok.
The location is away from any nearby restaurants, so a taxi or hire car is needed.
Use Uber not the hotel for taxis, €9 vs €25!
10 / 10
Hotel restaurant has been improved in terms of decor but moved to a buffet set up for food, €15 for lunch but it could of been standing all afternoon, not fresh, food choice was poor IMO, I didn’t expect motorway service food for such a resort
10 / 10
Ticked all the boxes - covid safe , and staff were helpful
8 / 10
Our apartment for the four of us was bigger & better equipped than our last stay at this resort which was probably due to me emailing them to ask for a view? The golf on both courses was fantastic as always but staff in the bars were a bit shambolic in respect of keeping track of orders & hassled us for payment even though we were having more drinks.
One of our favourite parts of staying here is the balcony bar with views over the courses but without warning this was closed to everyone except a girls football team who never appeared to be in there??
We had to use the breakfast room bar which was busy & difficult to get seating
For four days of our stay.
Overall the golf was excellent but did feel like second class at the clubhouse.
8 / 10
Apartment was very clean and spacious with everything you need. The only negative is the twin beds were tiny single beds. These could have been bigger beds.
8 / 10
For the first time in 3 years of visitig the resort we had a problem with the reception booking our 4th round. If it was not for our persistence we would have lost out. Whats the point of booking unlimited golf if the resort says its not guaranteed. The rest of the staff was very freindly.
10 / 10
Great resort, food lovely and course were great.
8 / 10
Nice staff, very friendly & helpful. Liked the free shuttle bus service. Welcome dinner was OK but just buffet.
6 / 10
Hotel ran out of all beers except Super Bock.
Staff friendly, but the site mini bus drivers were mad, the speed they drove at was ridiculous and they almost ran me over on one evening.
8 / 10
accommodation was fantastic. Location and proximity to Albufiera was also great if you fancy a night out / change of scenery.
Breakfast was good buffet quality but evening Buffett was poor. Bar food decent enough though.
6 / 10
Poorly understaffed throughout the complex, waiting for shuttle bus for an hour, drinks and food service was very poor. My bed in the apartment was a sofa bed with a sheet and one pillow

Had an amazing trip , the staff were extremely helpful , we had a thoroughly enjoyable 6 days , all the timings etc fell into place .
We will be back next year

We stayed in a 4 bed villa on the resort with a private pool over looking the course. The villa was huge and all bedrooms were ensuite, great facility.
8 / 10
2nd visit to Amendoeira, first time couldn’t fault it..This time, causes excellent as usual and golf staff very helpful.
Restaurant staff not so good, left waiting ages for drink and food on all days, one day we was unable to book a table for food in the evening as they were supposedly fully booked.. so asked what do we do for food then and the lady just shrugged her shoulders.. offered no alternatives do had to speak to reception to find out about out of resort restaurants to eat!!
Would I return.. no... and have heard from other golfers on my return that they have had the same experience.
10 / 10
Cannot fault the resort in terms of the quality of the accommodation. However, for such a large complex housing so many apartments and villas where people self cater, there are no on site shops for basic necessities - I mean, like bread or milk.. its not available. Aldi is the nearest supermarket apparently, 10 euro's taxi away !

3 bed Villa was spacious and excellent, good shuttle service
Staff at both Reception and Restaurant were very friendly

As normal pleasant staff and a well organised structure, prices were reasonable, and service very good as normal.

Our society had an absolutely amazing trip from start to finish. Great resort and the staff were brilliant throughout. Our villas were top class.
10 / 10
The Villas, restuarant and staff were all amazing. we would definitely come back to this resort. But would be wary of the delay to tee times in future
8 / 10
Accommodation was very good, we were very happy with it.There is an issue re the availability of buggies for afternoon tee times. We walked for the first 9 holes but with a lot of people waiting around there was some tension
10 / 10
Great place, there was a bit of chaos on the first day with the buggies (we were off at 1320 but didn’t actually get out under 1430) but other than that it was brilliant. We stayed last year as well, the food has improved and was generally very good. The only downside to the resort is it is a bit too far away from any night life so we end up staying in the resort. The prices in the very small shop as astronomically high, we paid €1.5 each for washing tablets and dishwasher tablets
8 / 10
The Villa we had was superb - can't fault that side of the trip with the separate swimming pool and good facilities.
10 / 10
10 / 10
Our 3-bedroom villa was high quality and the private pool a great bonus. Although we didn't need it there was a good shuttle service for those in the more remote parts of the resort.
8 / 10
Very well organised on the golf but no buggies for our first round meant we played 14 holes, the bar was never manned properly and waiting far too long for drinks and food, after Sunday it was no problem, much better,
Staff were under too much pressure,
Overall really good set up as usual,, just overbooked in our opinion,
Thanks
6 / 10
Villa's we stayed in are excellent, we had a lovely pool and everything we needed. Staff friendly and polite. Bar is rubbish, you will wait 25mins for a drink every time.... every time! Food is very average and a little pricey
8 / 10
We stayed in a super apartment on the complex, surrounded by the 2 golf courses. Only real issue was it is out of town, but we had a hire car to get out and about when we wanted. We had heard about the slow service in the clubhouse so we didn't bother to eat there. Breakfasts were good though. Staff were generally good.
8 / 10
We stayed in a 4 bedroom villa and everything about the property and its location were amazing, the only disappointing part of the holiday was the service in the restraunt and bar, the staff in there were mainly unhelpful and sullen in there attitude. All other staff at the resort were very helpful and could not be faulted.
10 / 10
We couldn't of experienced anything better 100% Happy
2 / 10
Courses not maintained
Courses over booked - 6 hour rounds
Bought unlimited golf never got to play more than once as courses always booked up
Staff rude
House not clean
Found glass in our pool
Found a dead lizard in the house
Minimum staff in bar and restaurant so wait for up to an hour to get served
Buggies old and on a very hilly course very dangerous no grip
That’s just a taste of the issues

It was very nice we had a nice villa with an amazing view
10 / 10
We stayed in a four bed apartment and had an extra room with a sofa bed as well.
Everything was spotless and to a very high standard. Loads of room with three bathrooms.
You couldn’t fault it.
8 / 10
We decided to pay the extra money for the superior 4 bedroom villa accommodation which is worth every penny, your own infinity pool overlooking parts of the golf course to relax to before or after playing the courses was worth it alone, not to mention the size and space provided within the villa, very very good!
10 / 10
Superb accommodation. We went as a family of four and couldn’t have asked for more.
8 / 10
Superb quality rooms, excellent shuttle service from villa to clubhouse. Safe keeping of clubs for duration of our stay.
Food and drink excellent quality and value for money. Could do with a few more waiting on staff as could wait a while. Only minor issue though
8 / 10
The Resort is excellent value for money and the staff are very pleasant . But the service in the bar and restaurant is chaotic , orders are permanently being mixed up and so are the bills. We were charged for drinks we never received on a few occasions but to be fair they always refunded us without question. This resort could be fantastic if the bar and catering staff were trained properly and a proper system set in place .
10 / 10
8 / 10
A very pleasant resort but very much used by parties of men. As a party of four women we were definitely in the minority by 100 to 1! Men aren’t as fussy as women and that maybe contributes to the slightly less than four star look of the apartments. Cleaning was definitely an issue. Staff elsewhere in the resort were superb however.
8 / 10
Need more staff working behind the bar and serving. You end spending a lot of time waiting to be served as there is only one person behind the bar. Only problem with the resort really
10 / 10
Amazing resort and very friendly staff.
8 / 10
The apartments are very well appointed, spacious & comfortable. The lack of anywhere on site to buy a full range of supplies was limiting & the general level of service in the bar/clubhouse was variable at best.
10 / 10
Fantastic service overall 👍
The only glitch was with a lunch order which went astray between Table service and the kitchen however swiftly rectified when requested.
10 / 10
We stayed in a 4 bedroom villa, the villa was amazing with its own pool and 4 en suite bedrooms, the kitchen was spotless and we even had a brick built bbq on the sun terrace.
10 / 10
Great value it our 3rd time will definitely return
10 / 10
Villa was absolutely spot on for us , clean , spacious everything we needed , unfortunately was rooming with a snorer but however it was like a lottery win to find a sofa bed in the living room , tremendous !
8 / 10
The staff at the hotel and complex were so helpful and it made the holiday very relaxing. We would definitely stay again. The bar area for evening meals we a little austere but that was the inside where we had to eat because of the weather. Perhaps they could make it a little more comfortable.
10 / 10
We had two 2 bedroom apartments which were very spacious & comfortable with bathroom & shower room. although we didn't use the kitchen it had everything one would need. Take coffee/tea bags as sachets are supplied for first night only. so easy to get to & from clubhouse just pick up the phone dial reception & they will send minibus to pick you up within minutes!
10 / 10
the self catering appartments are well equipped and having the two course on site mean that golf can be the focus of the trip, but the place is not suitable for stag trips as the courses are pretty tough and there is no "facilities" in the immediate area
10 / 10
This was my third time at this resort and i totally enjoy it every time. The staff go out there way to ensure you holiday / break is one to remember. Thank you all contributed, i will be returning.

The apartment was fabulous very clean looked brand new.Fabulous views over the course.Very spacious.
8 / 10
the accommodation was excellent in fact we had no problems but think they would benefit from having another restaurant as the clubhouse is good but not always but sometimes something different would be nice also with it catering for groups mainly men who can get a bit boisterous .
8 / 10
Generally very good - the resort shuttle was a little frustrating- but ok when used to it - but overall very happy

The staff are very helpful. Plenty to do on the resort.

Super accommodation, spacious apt. Stayed in two bed, full kitchen, two showers/over bath. Dining area(spacious) seating area and veranda with outside table and chairs. A distance from reception 10/12 mins walk
10 / 10
Staff are friendly and helpful but be prepared to wait for service. Accommodation is first class and can’t be faulted. This is our 5th visit in 5 years which tells you everything you need to know about the resort
4 / 10
The apartments where great thou not comfortable to sleep. The resort itself lacks something. The bar and restaurant service is awful, this place could be so much better.
8 / 10
We stayed in a 2 bed apartment. Accommodation was very good, clean, comfortable, a good size with all you needed for self catering ( we went B & B ). Buffet breakfast was excellent, great choice from fruit to fried/grilled food. Food in bar was ok however service could have been better.
10 / 10
Just returned from a 4 night golfbreak in one of the resort’s 4 bedroom superior villas (sleeps 8). Wow, what an amazing villa, fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Super infinity pool & large garden area with privacy provided by mature shrubs & a gated drive. The resort/clubhouse facilities are excellent & the staff are all very friendly & helpful - my only criticisms are that due to it’s remote location the resort would benefit from a larger grocery store/mini market & the clubhouse restaurant & bar needs more staff as wait times for drinks & food was pretty slow.
10 / 10
Great resort, would highly recommend
Will definitely return again soon
10 / 10
Our party had a great time. Acommendation was very good.Food and drink excellent staff friendly and helpful. Looking to go again next year. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good value holiday.
6 / 10
The design and layout of the clubhouse let it down a bit. Food is not the best and the staff are very slow. If they could get the clubhouse right then you'd feel less inclined to head to town every night. The apartments are very good. Great finish and the shuttle service to and from the clubhouse was excellent
10 / 10
Only minor criticism would be there seemed to be a lack of staff
8 / 10
Villa accommodation was excellent, resort was superb, if only the bar understood customer service. After 6 hours on the golf course the table service needs to be better, repeatedly having to ask for more drinks is unacceptable.
10 / 10
The villas were amazing, absolutely faultless.
The golf staff, organisation of the golf, practise facilities and courses were fantastic.
The only let down was the clubhouse bar and restaurant staff. The staff were rude, dis-interested and made everyone feel like we were a burden. The food in the clubhouse was poor as well.
8 / 10
Great rooms although about half a mile from restaurant etc. So glad we had a car. Facilities were excellent and good food and drink, if service a little slow. Overall very good.
8 / 10
Spot on pool outside bus a bit of pain good resort will come here again
6 / 10
This is an extended golf course and some of the hotel characteristics are missing. The breakfast was a bit hit and miss, the food could be cold at times. The apartment was very good but again lacks a bit of hotel add on's eg no soap or flannels in the bathrooms. Like much of Southern Europe there is a poor television provision for elderly Brits such as us. We do not drive abroad any more so the location required us to utilise the local taxis at extra cost. The two golf courses were of the highest order, even though they were extremely hard they were totally enjoyable.

Both courses were in excellent condition, you need to be on your game to score well. Practice facilities are superb and the par 3 course was great fun. Buggies are a must, especially on the Faldo course. Accommodation is 5 star quality, with the only downside being that it is a 10 min walk to the clubhouse / restaurant. Although there is a shuttle service, it did not look too frequent so best to have a car which is also required if you want to eat away from the hotel, as nearest restaurants are 15 mins drive away. If there is any room for improvement, it would be a bit more choice to the restaurant menu, but this is a small criticism. Unlimited golf deal with buggies & being able to play another Oceanico course in Vilamoura is a great deal.
My Caddy Tip -"Need to think before pulling the driver out on the tee, often position can be critical."

Accommodation 5 star. Courses top rated. Buggies and practice facilities included and the ability to get 36 holes in a day was great, although the usual Algarve slow players meant only 34 holes in one day. Stayed in a superb villa with each bedroom having en suite which helped. Eating at the Club was first class and not too pricey. All the staff were incredibly helpful.
My Caddy Tip -"Play the front tees on the Faldo."

Fantastic trip and the second time I have been out to the Faldo complex. The courses are a great challenge and very different from each other. Excellent value for money both for the golf and the club house and accommodation.

No favourite hole, every hole was a different challenge in its own right and a pleasure to play. I would recommend taking a few provisional balls because you are going to use them whatever your handicap. We stayed in stunning appartments and the shuttle service to and from club house was brilliant . Definitely going to return.
My Caddy Tip -"Play percentage golf, use your shots wisely otherwise the course will beat you."

Great venue, friendly welcoming staff at the clubhouse and around the course. I would recommend Faldo and O'Connor courses as both are challenging and exciting to play. A golfers must.

A good mix of different holes with good hotel facilities.

Faldo course is tough with some difficult 2nd shots to uphill greens. 17 is a really good Par 4. O'Connor course is much more playable but still an excellent test of golf and needs to be played strategically. 14 is a tricky dogleg right. 2 bed 2 bath apartment was excellent.
My Caddy Tip -"Take 1 more club with 2nd shots on the Faldo. Some holes on O'connor where you don't need a driver- particularly 14."

Apartments are brand new, stylish, clean and luxurious. Clubhouse does great choice of meals at a very reasonable price. The breakfast provided on the B&B basis is buffet and a very good range of choice. Courses are great- O'Connor is good, but Faldo is one of the best courses I have ever played. Hard to pick a favourite hole, but 3rd stands out, and 17th requires little short of perfection to earn your par.
My Caddy Tip -"Greens are true, and you can hit any club to them- they will hold."

Favourite hole was 1st on Faldo. Always use a buggy. Apartment was first class- good bed, well equipped kitchen and very comfy living area.
My Caddy Tip - "Have a practice round before you challenge your mates."

Food a bit limited and expensive at the clubhouse but lots of good restaurants nearby. Some really tough holes on both courses but generally quite playable for the higher handicapper.
My Caddy Tip -"Avoid the bunkers."

Did not get to play both courses due to the conditions. Only played a mix of the two courses. Nothing to do in the evenings at the resort.
My Caddy Tip - "Don't carry a bag."

We preferred the Faldo to the O'Connor (not that the O'Connor was bad!!) as it was more challenging, picturesque and had great changes in elevation. Really excellent. Hotel, golf and staff were all excellent, good food and reasonable bar prices too. We stayed in the apartments which were first class - Neff white goods, clean, maintained to a very high standard, pool just beyond the balcony, minibus to run you around the resort and reasonable transfers arranged by the hotel. Couldn't ask for more. I defy you not to love it.....Would recommend hiring a car if you want to get around locally.
My Caddy Tip - "If you can play off the back tees - try it."

Found the Faldo course harder than the O'Connor and I was not prepared for the change in elevation- some real uphill/downhill holes. Accommodation was one of the best I have experienced. Food was great and the staff terrific.
My Caddy Tip -"Practise your bunker play before you go!"

Accommodation fantastic, staff helpful and the both O'Connor and Faldo courses are great. Although, they are very different from one another, they are both challenging yet playable for all levels.
My Caddy Tip -"Approach to the 18th green on the Faldo course plays longer than the yardage."

Faldo was tough, played almost exclusively into the wind. O'Connor was fun and we particularly enjoyed the practice facilities, great trip.
