Crieff Golf Club is rated one of Scotland's best inland courses by Golf World magazine, located at the "gateway to the Highlands" with scenic views of the Strathearn Valley.

Laid out over gently sloping parkland that was once the grounds of the Hydro, a grand Victorian Spa, the Ferntower & Dornock courses provide a decent challenge to visiting golfers alongside excellent year round playing conditions.

The original 9 holes were created by Old Tom Morris in 1891 which was then added to by Robert Simpson and James Braid to create an 18 hole layout. John Stark made additional updates in 1980 and added another 9 holes to create the 27-hole layout of great value golf in a beautiful setting.

Golf Courses at Crieff Golf Club

The Ferntower Course

The present Ferntower course was opened for play in 1980 after John Stark made amendments to the layout. The rolling fairways are generous and the rough is a little forgiving, at 6,400 yards the course is not too long but a few holes still require long accurate shots from the tee.

Laid out over a hill with magnificent views over the Strathearn valley visiting golfers will often find themselves faced with tricky sloping lies but the slopes are gentle which makes walking the course a pleasurable experience.

The Dornock Course

The nine-hole Dornock course comprises five of Simpson and Braid’s original holes and four that were constructed in 1982. Some of the best holes are the short 2nd and the 9th, which is a medium length two-shotter!

The course provides good golf on a more modest scale than the Ferntower Course and is well-used by juniors, beginners, and some of the more senior players. In winter it can also form part of a composite 18-hole course.
