Hotel was lovely with a nice friendly atmosphere in the bar area. Evening meal was great and we had exceptional service from our waitress (Nicola) even though she was extremely busy due to a staff rota problem. The only gripe we had was in the clubhouse on arrival when it cost over £20 for 2 coffees and 2 sausage cobs. A bit extortionate!!!

A Wonderful Stay with Exceptional Service, Let Down Slightly by the Golf Course We recently stayed at Forest Pines Hotel & Spa in North Lincolnshire for a golf trip, and overall, it was a superb experience. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and the staff made our stay truly memorable. A special mention must go to Andrea and Kiera, who were both absolutely instrumental in ensuring everything went smoothly. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail went above and beyond, and they made sure we were looked after from start to finish. Any issues we encountered were dealt with promptly — all faults reported were resolved on the same day, which was very impressive. We did have a small disappointment on the first night, as we were placed in a different dining area than expected. It wasn’t what we had been told in advance, but thanks to Andrea’s intervention, this was resolved for the second evening and the rest of our dining experience was excellent. The only real letdown was the golf course. While we understand the challenges of recent hot weather, the course was noticeably barren and sparse in several areas, which detracted from the overall experience. It lacked the lushness and maintenance we were hoping for. Additionally, we were spoken to about slow play, which we felt was unfair. The course was very busy at the time, with multiple small groups cutting in and disrupting the natural flow. This created delays that were beyond our control, so being addressed about pace of play felt a little misplaced. That said, customer service was outstanding, and the hotel facilities more than made up for the minor frustrations. With some attention to course conditions and marshalling, this could be a five-star destination all around. Would we return? Very likely — especially thanks to Andrea and Kiera, who truly made us feel valued and welcome.

The accommodation was great, clean tidy just what you need. Swimming pool, sauna was great. Food we didn’t think there was much of a choice and was limited. Being on a golf trip we thought the sports bar close to early, this would have ideal for golfers to relax watching sports on the tv and not having to sit in the front area of the hotel.

Excellent short golf trip. Golf course was fantastic but everywhere is suffering with lack of water so fairways were dry and the ball ran well! The evening restaurant food was excellent and we were all impressed with the evening dinner and the evening dinner budget. Food at the golf club was mediocre.

✓11 Aug 2024
The accomdation was fine, the only gripe I had was prior to playing golf our luggage had to be stored in a room on the 1st floor. It would have made sense for a room to be allocated for our luggage on the ground floor are near to reception. The main courses on the 1st night were served over an hour after our starters were served, and only served when I had to ask when they were going to be served. On the second night the service improved. On the second night we popped out to Brigg. On our return to the hotel at approximately 11:20 hrs the bar was closed. I complained to the manager at reception as we had a large party of 20 people. The bar was re-opened but the attitude of the head barman, who was Asia, said that only bottles were available. After explaining to him that I served behind the bar in my local club and the nozzles for the draught lager would only take 2 seconds to refit. He then served draught lager. His attitude was very arrogant. The following day the same barman tutted when one of the party was paying with a card and, as we all know, they sometimes request the pin number for payment. I will be making all the golf societies aware of the issues that our group had at this venue.

Unfortunately the bed was very hard and every time my wife moved so did I it was like sleeping on a jelly but hard we had dinner on the first night we chose the fish and chips the chips were great the fish was all batter and soggy fish what there was of it t the second night we chose the Caesar salad it came in a bowl that was very unstable the salad leaves were whole so they were very difficult to cut without the bowl moving the chicken we had with it was virtually impossible to cut up to eat I wasn’t the only one having problems with it on the plus side it was tasty so with that experience I’m afraid I wouldn’t stay again unless I had to because of the bed and food

Staff were really good. Courses were in good condition. Food and drinks ridiculously expensive and the food certainly didn’t warrant the prices being charged. There were six of us and we stayed three nights Monday or Tuesday evening two of our ladies had undercooked, almost raw cauliflower Tika. Wednesdays meal was really not good. Katsu burger overcooked and sauce tasted like gravy powder, water and curry powder. Linguine with sun dried tomatoes was dry and the linguine was over cooked and stuck together. Oven chips and fish also dry and chips tasteless. Disappointing when other things were so good.

Very well appointed and comfortable rooms. Could have done with aircon as we were there for th e hottest days on record in the hottest part of the country! Nothing they could do about this of course. Friendly and helpful staff. Some of the lads used the pool and were impressed with it and the process of using it. Bars were pricey even with 10% reduction and the cost of 4 buckets of chips fpor us watching the Open after playing on the Sunday at £63 was ridiculous. Food was fine and filling with excellent breakfasts, outstanding in fact. The service was very good and outstanding at breakfast. Very happy overall. 'Chipgate' didn't spoil it. We would very much recommend it as a venue, it served our needs perfectly and enabled us to have an outstanding time despite the limitations the weather brought. I've canvassed opinion before writing this so this is a reflection of the general feeling. Very happy.

The accommodation was very comfortable and I was almost sneaking a couple of pillows into my bag they where that comfy. The bar staff are friendly but a bit of commonsense could prevail, no need to show the same person serving me the 10% discount slip everytime I placed an order but I suppose he was only doing his job. Was a tad on the pricey side I felt as did others. We had dinner pre booked and I must say this was the biggest let down, it felt like we where an after thought, and that we had pre paid for dinner that it was OK not to put too much effort into it. The first night I had chicken terrine that looked like it had been cut using a meat slicer it was that thin, which of course meant it had dried out as it was clearly preped we in advance, without going through every dish all in all the food left a lot to be desired and in fact a number of us phoned in a takeaway later on. All in all Nice friendly staff, lovely rooms but food really needs to be better as it let the side down

This was the first time we had been away since the pandemic. We felt so comfortable and safe in the hotel. We have stayed at a few Hilton’s in the past but we would have to say we were even more impressed with this one.Everything was first class and we would recommend it to family and friends. The staff were so welcoming and treated us so well. The food was amazing too.

Beautiful spacious room and bathroom. Clean and elegantly decorated. Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet was excellent. The evening dinner menu was adequate, but not overwhelming, and dishes appeared to be pre-prepared rather than made to order, which made for good service but didn't feel great value for money.

✓17 May 2022
At checking in, they did not ask us to preorder food which we apparently needed to do. As we found out later when we went to eat. Then the twin rooms only had one double bed in them. This got sorted out eventually, but some of the party ended up sleeping on Z beds with thin mattresses, which was not the best. The quality of the evening meal food was average at best (although breakfast was good). And although it was not the biggest inconvenience, there were signs and flyers everywhere telling you to ensure you had registered your car or you’d be fined if you parked there. But as the hotel is miles away from anywhere, who would park there unless you are at the hotel or golf course. So why the need to have messages everywhere threatening people with fines for parking and not registering. It’s not the most welcoming experience. I appreciate Covid is still causing hotels big issues, it was busy (possibly too busy for them to cope), and the golf was great, which was the most important part of it. However, we’ve visited Forest Pines 5 or 6 times now as it is such great value, but the general consensus was that we’d probably look somewhere else in the future as anything non-golf related is going downhill there.

✓17 May 2022
The hotel was ok, certainly adequate for a golf trip away. Staff in general were not the best, a little rude and abrupt at times, the food and service at dinner wasn’t good. That said, we were here for the golf not for the hotel experience, and on balance the staff on the bar on the Saturday night were good (if not a little overworked). The problem overall, was that the resort in general had bitten off more than they could chew. There were two large golf society groups booked in on the Saturday, the FA Cup final, a wedding, it was chaos for the staff who just didn’t have the numbers to cope. The overbooking of facilities became more apparent when on the Saturday at the starters hut, we were informed just how busy it was and that they would “try and get us on”. Not get us on early or late, but at all! Thankfully we were out on time, it may have been a comment made in the heat of the moment faced with more golfers and tee times than they should have had on the course. We were out early afternoon on the Sunday and decided to sit on the veranda an hour before our tea time, and with every table littered with plates, cups and glasses yet to be cleared from breakfast was another clear sign the staff were struggling to cope. For an established resort and golf in high season they should have the knowledge and experience to be able to staff appropriately. Prices at the bar were on the high side, we were charged £24 for 3 pints! Just be prepared that you are paying hotel bar prices and then some.

The staff could not have been freindlier. Always happy and keen to help throughout. Good, fresh breakfast and enjoyable dinner. Not so keen on the sandwich lunch in the golf area. Just a bit "carboardy". Could have been better. A bit of waiter confusion on the second evening meal. We seemed to be ignored for long periods but the restaurant manager sorted it out to our satisfaction. I would have given it 5 stars all round apart from this.

Our 2 night/ 3 day stay was OK The golf courses were fine The restaurant was a bit limiting with certain meals on the menu not available both nights. Breakfast was OK but by no means exciting. The cost of drinks in the bars was horrendous especially coffee at £3.95 a cup & half of Coke for £3 which miraculously was more than the lager!!!! According to the Golf Shop YGT had not agreed the correct first tee time with them that they had given us so we had to rearrange our first day tree time when we arrived. Their advice was to book direct with Forest Pines!!!!!

Had to reduce to seven people last minute, due to a Covid case. Asked hotel if we could have a meals/golf refund, told Yourgolf had only been billed for 7, as most hotel chains were refunding for Covid. Having already asked Yourgolf for a possible refund, and been told it was up to the hotel I am annoyed to learn Yourgolf has kept the £275 as profit, over and above their commission on the other 7. Might you wish to reconsider your position before I take this matter further with Abta and the newspapers?

I have been going to FP for years and sad To say. It’s looking a little tardy in places like the sports bar. I was also annoyed at the e starter. On our 2nd day telling us not To play off the white tees as they are for members only. Despite the captain’s approval. Over all the. Purse. Is fantastic and the facilities great. There wasn’t a lot of bar staff and queuing was a problem for the restaurant bar. I would go again. Just a shame things like that can detract a visit and a positive experience.

Great golf stay fo any party who wish drive and park up for two, three or four nights and not not move the car. The 3 x 9 holes work well. The hotel has good rooms, the staff are friendly/helpful and the food/drinks are good. The only negative side is the closure of the golf bar at 6.00pm. This should be still open for players coming off the course, it’s also a loss of income to the resort.

✓8 Sep 2021
Hotel was clean and comfortable with good facilities. Whilst the staff were friendly there wasn’t really enough of them and were all very young so when things went wrong nobody seemed to be in charge to fix it. Whilst there were notices about staff shortages due to covid that feels an easy excuse. The spike bar shut at 5pm pushing everyone into the main bar. The main bar then had 2 staff on even at the busiest times so it took 20-30 mins every time to get a drink

A great venue. My only regret is that the golf bar stopped serving food at 4pm and closed completely at 7pm. For a group of lads who have just come off the course they are hungry and want to have a few beers. That time for golfers after a round in the bar is always a highlight that is interupted by having to get showered and changed for dinner.

On arrival all the group's luggage had to be stored in one of the groups room due to no storage available, group size 16 people. Not a good start. On leaving a store room was available behind the reception area.?? Staff very friendly however, a late bar was only available after the Manageress served us the required refreshments, the bar staff basically told us that the bar was closed. There were no facilities for storing golf equipment at the golf course, this had been available on previous visits, this meant everyone in the party had to trail golf clubs and trollies through the hotel. We were promised hot cookies on arrival, these never materialised. Nearly everyone in the group had issues, at some stage or other, with accessing their rooms due to issues with the key cards having to be reprogrammed. This occurred on several occasions. We have always previously enjoyed ourselves at this venue but it will take a great deal of persuasion and improvment before we return.

At face value this hotel screams quality but sadly falls way below on many fronts, we had room 11 and initially you think it’s great but then we found the following one spotlight is hanging by a thread, the shower head is broken the net curtain had probably been there since opening day as it’s black full of holes and ripped at the bottom a good night sleep not easy as the walls must be paper thin as you can hear every word spoken in the corridor even when people talking normally, turning to the restaurant on night one we were told we had no reservation and had to prove it, then payment was demanded we refused because on golf package reluctantly they agreed then the next morning we were asked name and room for breakfast which we gave and were told we had already had breakfast and could not enter again, after much discussion we finally got breakfast, on night two all was fine

We had a fantastic time at Forest Pines. The 3 9 hole courses were all superb so thank you so much for your high recommendation...did you order the great weather for us as well!?
I can’t praise YGT enough for the excellent service and the golf break was great value for money too. Forest Pines has a superb hotel with five star facilities including the spa and the pool. The restaurants were nice with great food and friendly service too...the staff could not have been more helpful.
We can’t recommend this venue enough and shall definitely be

the golf course and hotel but great value for money and service from YGT.

The Hotel staff at Forest Pines are exceptional and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfasts are very good and the dinners are tasty. Beer was reasonably priced too about about £3.75 per pint.
As for the golf courses, we found the Forest and Pines courses a bit similar in the challenges they set. You had to be fairly long and accurate off the tees and were still left with long irons in for the majority of holes. I’d recommend perhaps playing from more forward tees to maximise enjoyment.
The Beeches course offered more in the way of variety and although there were two very long par 4s, some of the holes were shorter and doglegged. We thought this was the most enjoyable of the three courses.
Overall we were very happy with our experience.
David

Our golf break to Forest Pines was brilliant. Members of staff are all extremely friendly and made our stay comfortable to say the least. The menu in the restaurant seemed to be a bit limited but the food was excellent; couldn’t fault it at all.
The golf courses were all beautiful (there are 3 nine hole loops) and the greens were very well kept indeed.
We found the hotel easily so no problems there and the rooms were large and very comfortable.
Overall I would book with your recommendations again and
would certainly go back to Forest Pines in the future.

We had a great three days at Forest Pines, with good golf
and a nice hotel. The bar prices were a bit over the top but apart from this everything
was excellent.

What a great venue Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort is. Easy access from M180 and good signposting made our journey there a piece of cake. The Hotel has quality in every department. Food, rooms, staff...all very good.
The golf course was in excellent condition and was enjoyed by all different handicap players in our group (from 5 – 24). The 19th hole was welcoming and the beers were sold at reasonable prices.
The Overall verdict from all of the group was 10/10.

Let me start by saying a big thank you for arranging our trip to the Forest Pines Hotel and Golf Resort. It has been a pleasure to deal with your golf travel.
We were very surprised on how easy and quick we were able to arrive at the hotel, easy parking both at the hotel and the Golf club. The hotel is well signposted too and just of Junction 4 of the M180.
The course consists of 3 9hole courses: Forest (3291yds), Pines (3551yds) and Beeches (3102yds) and although the courses run parallel, they are entirely separated by stands of trees. The tee boxes and fairways were well cut and well looked after, the greens are excellent and undulating with many featuring at least two tiers.
We purchased a Strokesaver Course guide and it was invaluable in negotiating the course so I’d recommend doing the same for other first timers. The water features are intimidating but negotiable, bunkers and lateral water ditches are well marked, but as I found to my cost the deep pot bunkers are nasty!!
The hotel was what you would expect from a 5star establishment with reception courteous and friendly, superb food and an excellent overall presentation. Prices are what you should expected from this standard of hotel; expensive but not overly so.
The four of us were all agreed we would return without
hesitation.

My wife and I enjoyed the hotel at Forest Pines. Great breakfasts!
The three nine hole golf courses were in good condition and were really fun to play, although they can get a bit tight at times!
Thanks for everything Your Golf Travel; you even managed to arrange good weather!

Golf Course – Very good condition, greens all very nice, lots of trees making many fairways tight, a difficult but great course.
Clubhouse/19th hole – About £4 per pint and food expensive too but a great balcony overlooking the course to enjoy a few drinks on.
Hotel – The hotel was very good, the rooms were clean and modern, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
Location – Very easy to find and park.
Overall verdict - I would rate Forest Pines at
9/10, the best resort overall we have visited so far.
Would I recommend YGT to a friend? Yes!

Have recently returned from a golf break at Forest Pines so thought I’d get in touch.
The course was in excellent condition with true greens which were running at a decent speed. The golf at Forest Pines is suitable for all levels. Although all three courses are heavily tree lined, you rarely seem to be hunting for golf balls!
Staff were friendly and accommodating at the hotel and the food also very good.
All in all, this is a venue I would certainly recommend for
visiting parties!
Nigel

We had a really good break at Forest Pines and as usual, you guys at YGT didn’t let us down with your recommendation!
All 3 loops of 9 holes were of equally great condition and very well kept with fairways like carpets, even during the spell of hot weather of late. All of the greens run very true and smooth as well.
Forest Pines is certainly a good challenge and although you do need to be straight, there are certainly a few birdie chances; maybe even an eagles if you are ok with a fairway wood!
We all found the clubhouse very welcoming and spent quite a lot of time sitting on the balcony watching other golfers come down the stretch with a cold beer on the go, the prices for which were slightly high but not extortionate.
Food in the restaurant was of great quality – dined once in
restaurant – and on our second night
we dined in the clubhouse area as this was great value for money.
All of the guestrooms were of good standard too and we used all the leisure areas as well to chill and unwind which was a bonus.
All members of staff were friendly and you could quickly build a good rapport with them which is important in such a setting.
I’ve already recommended Forest Pines to others and would
give it a 9/10 overall...very
much one we would go back to.
Hope this all reads ok and thanks again,we will be doing
more trips and will certainly be in contact with Your Golf Travel again.

Not the right time to play this course in Autumn as the leaves meant we lost a lot of balls. That is not the course fault but ours :) I can imagine in spring and summer this is a gorgeous place to play and we will come back then. Probably the hardest course I've ever played. Very narrow in places. But again in summer, because of the gaps between trees you would not lose so many balls and always be able to chip back out.

As per review on the previous days play. The course was very quiet and when we did come up behind a 4 ball in front, they were quick to wave us through. I think all 3 nines that we played would benefit from some additional signage to show which direction the next tee was, when leaving the green. It was confusing in places due to the close proximity of the holes on the other courses
David
✓15 Oct 2025
Good course layout. Numerous trees offered protection for the course if you didn’t hit it straight and a number of interesting dog leg holes. Fairly quiet on the course so as a 2 ball we enjoyed the good pace of play. Fairways were a little muddy but considering the time of year it was to be expected. Greens were a very good surface, albeit a little slow for what we had been used to on our own course. Bunkers were poor, with little sign of raking from previous players. Unfortunately this is a common problem across the UK and other places we have played in Spain and Portugal this year.

Same as before punched and sandy greens, dry and hard fairways. Tee boxes were really nice but when we spoke to course manager he seemed a bit out off when we mentioned how poor the conditions were. Courses more local to us have a lot less money and seem to be better to play at. Probably during spring time is the best to play there
Elijah
✓21 Aug 2025
Course was really nice, condition not the best. Tough as greens were punched and sandy and fairways were really dry so you were sometimes punished for playing well. Almost like playing off the cart path on some holes. Just part of the dry weather so tough to manage but still could’ve been better

A tough challenge for your game. You need to be accurate off the tees and for avarage hitters like me there are some long par 4's. Some really stunning holes on the way round. It didn't feel like 2 loops of 9 as the 1st on each start off near each other. Highly recommend a stay here.

The starter was just rude and insisted we tee off 20 minutes before our allotted tee time or he would call the next group up, everyone rushing with hardly any time to have a warm up. Course was as day before, greens been cored and not rolled, ball bouncing all over the green. We ended up playing putters length gimmes as they were so bad. The reason I rate the course hard is I would have used the tern difficult. Driving very straight was essential and if you are a slightly longer driver not able to shape the ball the trees and shape of the tree line means a straight drive can easily run into the tress. Golfers driving between 200&230 yards are fine.

For the time of year the course was excellent, although some places muddy. It was a long slog as it was heavy underfoot. Although said hard for difficulty it is not as easy as that as we all found the Pines the most difficult with the Forest that bit easier. There are a lot of long par 4s.

We were a party of 12. 2nd time at Forest Pines and played all 3 loops. Fairways were a bit ropey in places so played preferred lies. Greens were very good as were bunkers considering overnight rain. All 3 loops are a good test. Good facilities overall. We would go back.

Great golfing venue. All courses are tight and tree lined, greens good condition, but undulating hence tricky to the newcomer, challenging but great fun. Fairways were badger affected, but free drop from scrapings.

✓4 Oct 2022
Beautiful! With having so many trees it was great that there was no rough almost anywhere so finding stray balls was easy. Only disappointment was that over the two rounds we were not given a chance to play the Forest 9 holes and had to play the same Pines/Beeches course both days.

✓14 Sep 2022
The course is over-rated as it is too busy and if that is the business model, the model is wrong. Too many worn areas on tee boxes and their run-offs, fairways suffered from GUR too much and animal scrapings. The course needs more greens staff to attend to basics.
David
✓11 Sep 2022
3 nine hole courses . Beeches not as good as Pines and Forest. All had suffered from this years drought. You sometimes felt pressurised into getting round the first 9 to ensure you fitted in on second . Didn’t actually cause us a problem but we had buggies. Wicked bunkers and lots of them. Quiet and peaceful although you do hear the nearby motorway junction at times.

Overall we thought the condition of all three courses to get excellent, if we had to pick one, the Beeches just probably needed a little more work The greens were immaculate on all three courses, with the facilities providing a relaxing way into your round. The degree of difficulty varied amongst us as a group but by vote, the difficulty aspect was hard compared to average. We suggest it may have been a tad slow, and we did not see marshalls patrolling, but the speed was definitely not down to the ladies groups that were present, in fact several of our guys want to know where the women are playing next year haha

Decided on a 9 hole comp as this was the hottest day on record in the hottest part of the UK. A wise decision! We played the 9 we had not played on the Sunday so got to play all three 9s. No complaints about the decision as it was 40C when we finished. A nice finish to the trip which, despite the weather was a great success.

✓27 Jul 2022
Weplayed all 3 courses and despite the very dry, hot weather of previous weeks they were well presented and very playable. Challenging but not scary. The bunkers are well placed but we were all able to get out of them. There were a couple of places where signs to the next tee were difficult to fond and if we hadn't had someone who'd played before we could have had difficulties. We are all looking forward to returning and all agree it was our best "tour" yet.

First of all the starters couldn't do enough for us and made Sunday so special for us as we played Forest with no one around us. It meant a 30 min wait until we could play pines but he explained this before and it was perfect for us. All three courses are a joy to play and I would highly recommend any of the courses. There's are good sprinkling of water and bunkers and the courses were so picturesque on two sunny days. You cannot go wrong here.

Our first day got off to a bit of a wet start but I can't blame the resort for that lol, greens ran true but where slow but I'm putting that down to the wet conditions. By day 2 they had improved and on day 3 they where much better, obviously had time to dry out. The practice areas let the resort down, can't hit any drivers and no short game area put a bit of a dampner on it for a few of us who like to warm up before a round, felt like we had lost a bit of the whole experience we look for when we go away. Course conditions where very good and some of the holes are stunning and very memorable. All in all a good golfing experience and would consider going back in the future.

The afternoon game on the first day was very challenging and it took us a wee while to loosen up but thoroughly enjoyed it.The next day was very busy but well managed. We enjoyed it very much. We are members of The Old Course in Musselburgh in Scotland which is a links course so Forest Pines was a nice change for us.

Nick

David
✓17 May 2022
Greens were in terrible condition. This was the biggest disappointment of the weekend. greens had been sliced and sanded and there was no grass on some of the greens.
Chris
✓17 May 2022
The course itself is picturesque, pristine fairways lined with tall pines and rhododendrons, think Woburn and Augusta in terms of aesthetics. Fairways were firm and well manicured, a well hit drive would see the ball roll out a good 40 yards or so. Greens were very firm and played almost links style, you were often better playing one slightly short and rolling on than hitting the green on the carry. The mix of the 3 x 9 holes gave something different on each nine, Pines being the tightest and toughest of the 3. Forest was like Pines but with a little more to play with off the tee, certainly more accessible to golfers of all handicaps. Beeches is your thinking golfers nine, an iron off the tee was a safer bet in most instances. The course itself is very tough in general, the slope rating will give you an indication of this. If you’re a new golfer or a high handicapper, there are other resorts that would better suit your game without breaking your will and ruining your enjoyment of the sport. If you hit it straight, have 220+ yds off the tee and your irons don’t hook or slice then you’ll probably have a great time here. If you’re struggling with any of the above this course will eat you alive. That said, as a single digit handicapper, it was a real test but incredibly enjoyable. I would say had I come here when I was a high handicapper I would have probably shot well over 110. It’s not for the faint hearted, don’t expect to shoot your handicap if you’re playing off upwards of 20. Greens were firm and fast but were being worked on so not in the greatest condition, not bad by any means for greens that get peppered by society groups all day every day. The major downside, regardless of which loop of nine you were on, was that it was massively overcrowded. We waited on every single tee box. That added 60 minutes to each loop of nine. That’s a long day on the course. We found that groups also disregard what they’re told to go and play and just hop onto a different loop once they’re out of sight, further disrupting the flow of the round. Don’t expect a quick 18 - You’ve been warned! Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I come back? Not a chance. There are much, much better places to stay and play for this price point.
Paul
✓16 May 2022
Greens were difficult on Pines ( a lot of plant debris ) otherwise no issue
Peter
✓13 May 2022
We are not serious golfers so we found the course hard. The greens were also not in good condition having been recently "grooved" and sanded. Having said all that, this was still a very enjoyable set of 3x9 hole courses which would perhaps be appreciated more by the better golfer. In addition, the staff could not have been more helpful, especially John and Daniel. Extremely accommodating throughout - and we caused them some headaches by one member losing his phone and turning up late. Really patient with us, so thankyou.

We played 2 rounds in mid April - Pines/Beeches, Forest/Pines. Really enjoyed the courses which were busy due to the uk junior inter club championships taking place that week. The club organisation was excellent as we never felt pressured or held up through either round. The courses are showing a bit of wear around tees and greens but the tees and greens themselves were excellent and there was a lot of work going on. All in, a really good few days.

Played off the yellows so not too brutal - makeable par 5's, tricky par 3's so a good but fair test. Course in great condition for the time of year. cant be too wayward because of the tree lined fairways but stunning visuals on most holes - definitely one to go back to.

Most of the course in very good condition, though fairways on the Beeches 9 holes a bit muddy. Enjoyed the golf very much. Only one criticism, buggies were not cleaned at all and some were very dirty and rubbish not cleared away.
Gavin
✓25 Oct 2021
Course was generally in good condition, there were a few bald patches on the fairways, looked like they had been cut a bit too short hence the mud patches. We all agreed to play preferred lies anyway, so no real drama. The greens on the forest and pines course looked like they had some kind of disease, blotchy patches all over 80% of the greens. Other than that it was good, tough track though, but enjoyable overall.

✓3 Oct 2021
We found the course to be challenging and rewarding when we did get the right shot or managed to correctly read the greens. There are a lot of trees, but that is part of the joy of the course - occasionally they hide the ball and at other times they bounce back onto the fairway. This is more challenging than our usual course, but that it why we chose the overnight and 2 rounds - to get more experience.
Matthew

Excellent course, first day we battled agains the light (end of September) and the second day we had a monsoon for 3 holes, ever tried putting through a puddle?! But the greens dried super quick and the course was in excellent condition for the end of summer.
Dean
✓29 Sep 2021
Very, very, very slow.
Dean
✓29 Sep 2021
Simply way too slow. Being a pay and play course, the standard of golfer wasn’t limited and therefore those with little ability were holding up the whole course without knowing the etiquette of calling people through. Very painful.

Three fantastic nines of golf which our group really enjoyed . Seemed to be slow but actually played 18 holes in 3 hours or under all three days and got extra 9 in one afternoon when course was quieter and took 1.25 hours . Excellent venue for a UK golf tour . Suggest you book deirect and not through YGT who would not respond to requests for information and a late change moving our tee times forward 45mins without notification resulted in us almost missing our tee times

✓18 Sep 2021
We enjoyed the courses especially Forest and Pines but due to the late tee time we were allotted after we had originally booked an earlier one it was not possible to complete a full round on our first day. It is wrong to sell this as 3 rounds of golf at this time of year when the light prevents a full round.
Alan

✓17 Sep 2021
The golf course was as expected but the starters and shop staff didn't seem to give a dam. It was YGT or golf------ fault that we had poor tee of times and the wrong information times. Apparently we knew that we would not have enough time to finish the round on Sunday. The times we were given by YGT were wrong! They could of confirmed them on Sunday rather than we turn up to find a group of 40 teeing of in frunt of us at our time. They put their bookings first and we had what was left. Poor poor poor.

✓13 Sep 2021
As always excellent fairways. Course is far too much traffic, and is losing its usually outstanding greens and tee boxes.. In short very poor greens and tee boxes. Food was average, service good, overall worth the money. Note speed of play is poor.
John
✓12 Sep 2021
This is the harder of all three and has some very interesting holes in particular the last three of four. All three having water features effecting shots to the green and the par three 7th/16th having a SI of 2.

Played as the back nine on day 1 and first nine on day two. It’s name is fitting for the course with many high trees. On occasions they will help you by throwing a wayward shot back onto the fairway if you are lucky.

Our rounds were quite slow and our group generally felt the course was overused. I think there were over 300 golfers each day and greens were a little bumpy.

Good course, very tree lined so challenging! Would play again the only bad point was the bunkers that seemed to lack sand (or the sand was hard)

Forest Pines is an amazing course. We had heard great reviews and it did not disappoint. Such a great complex. We will be going again.

There was a large society of golfers some who obviously only came for the day losing balls in the trees taking so long to play driving onto tees with buggies and trollies even saw one group take a buggy onto the green they were playing every shot out even if they couldnt score our round too over five hours and it was dark for the last two holes

Difficult but enjoyable course. We were only held up briefly at the change from the forest to the pines 9 hole courses. The directions for each of the three 9 hole courses were excellent with clear colour coding.

Most holes are very pleasing to the eye. Something for everyone. Some holes you can bomb and other need a bit of thought. All holes seem to have a funnel of tall pines. Can't wait to go back.

Torrential rain just before tee off meant a wet round. But the course drained incredibly well and played really good. In great condition and these courses have matured beautifully into a superb test of golf. Very busy but well run throughout. A very pleasant experience.

Very straight forward the fairways were good but the greens were a little under maintained. Signage was not very clear from hole to hole
Ian
✓8 Aug 2021
Greens had been hollow tined so very bobbly, but this has to be done so no real complaints. Course a very good test of golf.
Richard
✓8 Aug 2021
Have played th course a number of times over the years. In June 2021 the course was in better condition especially the greens. Although the fairways were OK the greens had been hollow tined and sanded which resulted in a poor putting surface. Bunkers were also compacted and demanding to play out of.

4 hours for the round on Saturday was just about bearable but over 3 hours for 9 holes on Sunday was a joke A suggestion would be to check handicaps of players as it was obvious the fourball in front on Sunday were not players perhaps a ranger on the course would be an idea as they had lost a hole and had no idea of etiquette. The course has obviously had a lot of traffic which has had detrimental affect on the course condition. Positives the Starters were really friendly and accommodating. Overall disappointed in the overall weekend experience and would not recommend this complex to friends as far better options and courses closer to home.

Course was good, greens not great Disappointed with our tee time on the Sunday, we were supposed to start at 1208 but 2 additional groups were shoehorned in front of us, hence making our group 25 minutes late

The 3 nine hole loops are in great condition, bunkers are very good and as long as you are a fairly competent bunker player not to much of a problem, stunning surroundings with all the tall, mature trees framing the fairways is lovely, if you can’t stay on the fairway you’ll lose shots very quickly, only one slight criticism would be that the signage from green to the next tee on some holes could be better, all in all a great break away 🏌️♂️

I played Forrest then pines on the first day , it’s a lovely course well maintained . You have to be confident and straight with your driver otherwise play for position, the greens are not straight forward take your time . It was a 4 hour 20 round in blistering heat that was the only downside.

We played all 3 sets of nine holes over the two days. Lovely wide open fairways and interesting surroundings. Some of the greens were tricky and there was more water than I’m used to. We found Beeches easier and the ‘red one’ the most difficult. No pressure on us time wise so had a lovely relaxing round on both days (midweek).

Very busy and not easy to always determine next hole etc - crammed in while there was a junior competitions being hosted made timings slip quite significantly and with no practice chipping or range area this was disappointing. Staff were very helpful but also very busy

the Group enjoyed the golf and the 19th facilities worked pretty well under the current Covid restrictions. We were delayed by 30 mins on our second round by the Group who joined in front of us for their back 9 (our front 9). However the Course Marshal did come to inform us.

✓8 Nov 2019
Three fantastic 9 hole courses, all with consistent greens making it very easy to transition. Our favourite course is Forest as it has some lovely holes in and around the trees. The Beeches is the easiest course and we would say that the Pines course is marginally harder/longer than Forest. But can't fault any of the courses.

✓4 Nov 2019
All three courses were in excellent condition. The course on Thursday was not too busy and as a two ball we were round in very good time. The courses were much busier on the Friday and the starter was able to switch our playing order so that we only had limited hold ups due to playing amongst a number of three and four balls. The autumnal colours and great weather made for an all round excellent break. We will be back.

There were no facilities for storing golf equipment at the golf course, this had been available on previous visits, this meant everyone in the party had to trail golf clubs and trollies through the hotel. The greens had been treated/hollow tined and the bunkers were sparce of sand in areas. We have always previously enjoyed ourselves at this venue but it will take a great deal of persuasion and improvment before we return.

Pro shop staff were helpful could do with cheering up a bit. Starter Kevin was helpful at all times All of the greens had been holitised the week before and due to excessive rain the night before all of the sand had been washed out so the greens were not very good, the rest of the course was in great condition

✓7 Aug 2019
As a whole all 3 courses were superb. I played Frilford Heath 2 weeks prior (£99 green fee) and the condition of the course was very shabby. In comparison, all 3 courses at Forest Pines were in excellent condition. Greens rolled true & were very receptive, lush green fairways with a definitive 1st cut and rough. There was an astute level care and attention to detail throughout the course. I couldn’t really chose a stand out course, they were all as good as each other. One thing I would say is if you can’t drive straight your going to be in trouble.

Hope you are ready for a rant! Day 1we had a 2-30 tee time so at 1pm we went to get some balls for the range( as advertised on the YGT site) we were told sorry we have no balls!! But feel free to hit your own, we went to the range to find there isn’t one! There is a small practice area where nothing more than a 5 iron could be hit if there was balls obviously, there was a very very old net for driver and 3wood but the net is forlorn and has holes there are two very old and very uneven to hit from but just one rubber tee, anyway we went and played our first loop of nine and by time we started 2nd loop the course was basically empty, day 2 our tee time was 2pm so again we went at 1pm to get some balls to at least practice our irons oh surprise they had no balls again if you can believe that, anyway we done our first loop of 9 and then our 2nd loop was again on an empty course. Day 3 No balls again to practice this time at 9am, so we talked to the starter a man we had not seen at all the previous 2 days which we soon became glad of, this gentleman took great pleasure in telling us that 90% of the people who come and play are not good enough to be there and should not really come, he then told us something we were unaware of in that whatever your tee time for the first loop of 9 is the second loop must be started 2hours later and you are issued a tee time as such further if you seem to be getting a bit late he will be out chasing you and you will probably miss your second tee time and either wait ages or not play, now we always only intended to play 9 as a long drive home and we told him this however he still revelled in finding us on the ninth tee to tell us we were late bearing in mind we were battling in the horrendous rain to have hit Lincolnshire that day I felt like telling him where to stick his second nine, finally as he also liked to say this is a championship standard course but as we pointed not one of the 27 tees has a yardage board or hole map just a small concrete tile hidden away, some tee signs would surely make the place look better as for being championship yes the course is great but the facilities are very poor, so if you have got this far I would sum up course great facilities poor and the starter beyond rude, would we go again ? ....NO

My group all commented on how much they enjoyed the various combinations of the 3 9-hole courses. Fabulous pine trees & course set-up. Rough wasn't too long so you don't lose your ball if you're 5 yards off the fairway. Greens were true. Possibly our favourite course so far. Course management/communication by the staff was the best we've experienced in 20 years of golf trips. Highly recommend a visit if you can get there.

Course was nice but once you got to the greens very poor was supposed to play 3 rounds but only played 2 on the Monday we went to elsham golf club which was in fantastic condition and made up for a disappointing Saturday and Sunday we could not practice on the Saturday as there was no golf balls so overall very disappointed with forest pines so sad to say we wont be going back again

1st day - 13.00 tee time and we were delayed by 40mins - that's a lot of waiting around before you actually hit a shot - not good really. We played Beeches & Forest and you could tell the difference in the greens between the 2 courses - Forests were a lot better, Beeches did not roll true and were a bit bumpy therefore, a 4ft or 5ft putt for par was a bit hit or miss (no pun intended). 2nd day - off on time and better start all round. We played Forest & Pines and these had better greens between them, still some roll issues at times but overall a lot better greens experience. Stunning looking course F&P - great challenge and considering the amount of traffic, the greens were good. I have played F&P in September and the course is fantastic overall when all the greens maintenance has well and truly bedded in.
