The opening hole is one of the most famous in the world with your drive having to go across the sea. The modern design of Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club was built in 2009 by David McLay Kidd of Bandon Dunes fame. The modern championship design is a brilliant modern links style through the dunes and is fastly gaining a reputation.

Other fabulous links include Machrie Golf Links and Dunaverty Golf Club where the course settings are draw-dropping and the links feel untouched and as if you were playing over a century ago.
