- 1 round at Golf De Wimereux
Golf De Wimereux is one of the only true links courses in France, the area was once a popular choice for the British gentry, leading to the creation of a layout to rival the legendary links in the UK. The course was first created over 100 years ago but has been changed many times, leading to the spectacular design there today.
Located between Calais to the north and Le Touquet to the south, Wimereux is ideally situated for any UK golfer visiting Northern France, a popular option is to play it on the way to or from a weekend in Le Touquet. Ranked in the top 50 courses in France, it is a layout worth playing in its own right. Note: Weekend supplements will apply - please ask for details

Wimereux's classic seaside layout is truly spectacular, with views across the Channel to the white cliffs of Dover, and is a golf course of international repute. Many prestigious professional events have been staged at the 6,726 yard layout, which is punctuated by devilish pot bunkers, and is an exceptional golfing experience as part of an escape to France's nearest coast.
Golf de Wimereux is ranked as one of the best courses in Northern France

Played in calm weather, so fairly easy. Greens were very good but some of the fairways, especially towards the end were in a poor state. Handy location.

Really fun linx course, not overally difficult but in tough weather can be a real handful. Greens not too difficult either but again, if you don't put the ball in the right places can play very hard.

Greens were the best we played on all week. Steven the course Marshall was excellent. Really helped as we had rain delay and getting 16 out playing. Played in strong wind so a very good challenge.

Beautiful links course ... had heard some negativity from other groups but we loved it. Was well watered, the greens were great, and very forgiving for wayward shots. It became a harder challenge when the wind got up but a lovely links experience, and super-friendly staff in the clubhouse

The course was not up to the standard I usually play in France. It was tatty and was suffering from extensive animal damage around the course. The tees and greens were in great condition but the fairways.....I will not be playing this course again. This should not be on your list of courses to play. I play many links courses in the UK and this is way below the standard I expect.

First time we have played this course but even though the weather was terrible and a gale was blowing we enjoyed it so much. The restaurant was kept open for us and all the staff could not have been friendlier, will definitely come back next year.

Well worth a trip to play on way back to Calais, a welcome deviation away from the Tree lined courses of LT & Hardelot, modern open links style course, with good food offering in clubhouse

Very tough links with a gale blowing, but nice and open so a bad shot cost a stroke, and not a ball. Interesting layout and locals were all proper golfers.

Yet again we were off after a large womens competition. It was wet which slowed up the game, but mostly due to the slow play ahead. Course was very damaged and had 5 fairways with maintenance due to the summer damage.

Wimereux is a classic links which gets harder the more the wind blows. Dry weather made for one or two unfriendly bounces but overall the course is excellent. Clubhouse facilities for eating and drinking plus the pro shop are top class.

Playing Wimereux in a 50mph wind was quite an experience. By the time we reached the par 5 18th, into the wind, we were knackered! Unfortunately we were behind a society where the last group of three were non golfers and sharing clubs (why were they allowed)? Anyway it is an amazing links course and a stern test, not for the faint hearted. A very busy course so book buggies well in advance.

We have played this course in the past, then it was raining and windy, this time the sun shone but the wind blew. The facilities are good and the bar area and food are excellent. We found it quite expensive but there again what part of the world is not these days.

Great links course by the sea..Given it is a links course certain parts were a little sparse of grass but they were a great test. Greens run pretty true with no complaints. Having played two inland courses on the first two days this course made a great change and is the ideal option if you are on your way back to Calais..

Pretty course with terrific views of the channel. Quite long walks from green to tee, some very interesting holes and well laid out but the fairways were in a very poor condition. We had a 5 hour round as we were stuck behind two fourballs of French ladies who were not in any rush. Is "etiquette" originally a French word? (I think not based on our experience!). Restaurant stops serving at 3pm. Wouldn't rush back.

Played on 21/10. Pretty much had the course to ourselves but that may have been due to the inclement weather forecast? The course is right on the coast so is a lynx course, so not as visually stunning as some of the courses in the region but the greens were excellent and didn’t show any signs of a long season. Would definitely play again. The clubhouse was a little disappointing. The only hot food we could get beforehand was an omelette - which was very nice - but no food available post round. Again, this may be due to the time of year?

Interesting front 9 - linksy and great underfoot despite the previous very rainy days.back 9 provides a great view of the coast and with the low sky it is reminiscent of Scotland. Enjoyed the golf and the club house has a a good feel about it and served decent food ( fish n chips) euro 16. At this time of the year a better option than St Omer

It was a good weather day so perfect. If very windy it would be difficult. Many people playing this day including a golf society of about 30. There was a little waiting but OK. Menu for lunch was a bit limited. Course was perfect and so easily accessible from Calais.

Our round was early in the morning 9.00am and was clear and bright but really windy (so really cold). Played link a true links - really windy but have to say the greens were really good even though had been sanded. If it wasn't so windy it would have been the best overall

A very good course which I would think in the wind would be difficult but we had a sunny still day. Busy place but we started at ten just before the rush

✓18 Oct 2018
Great links style course, fabulous greens, it was calm and sunny when we played so felt comparatively easy, I'm sure it could be a real beast if the wind got up as its right on the cliff tops over looking the channel. This is evidenced with all the west facing fairways being low stroke indexes! Will definatly return here
Chris
✓17 Oct 2018
Nice links course. The fairways were fast but the greens were perfection - find them and your ball would hold. The wind made some of the holes a real challenge. It was a bit slow going but not too bad. Great views of the sea and some interesting WWII bunkers to investigate!

Matthew
✓2 Oct 2018
Lovely views as you progress through the round and greens played fantastic most holes were a little one dimensional though and I couldn’t decide if the course wants to a links style course or downland but scores can be made if avoiding the rough
