Home to the Nedbank Golf Challenge since 1981, and therefore perhaps South Africa’s most famous course, the Gary Player Country Club is an amazing course part of the huge Sun City Resort.
In 1998 the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington golf clubs aligned to form a new club. Both the East and West courses have been a host for the Joburg Open, with some of the best players competing it out to take home the title.
Established in 1935, forming a 18-hole parkland layout, the club then embarked a major upgrade program in 1989, improving the facilities of the club to then see Glendower host the South African Open on multiple occasions.
Johannesburg itself is a vibrant and youthful metropolis which typifies the re-emergence of modern era South Africa; bars, restaurants and shopping centres are by museums and monuments which pay heed to the country's less celebrated times.
