The spectacular 600-acre estate at Killeen Castle is home to a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and is soon to be complemented by luxury lodge accommodation. It is a testament to the quality of Nicklaus' creation that the course was awarded the honour of host venue for The 2011 Solheim Cup, despite only being completed in 2008. It also hosted the revived Ladies Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour in 2010.
The course rambles over 350 acres of beautiful natural woodlands, and Nicklaus has created a layout that can be set up to provide the sternest of championship challenges or entertain the average golfer thanks to multiple tees at every hole.
The course can be played from 6,118 yards to 7,677 yards and it boasts all the trademark Nicklaus features; bunkering in just the right positions, oceans of space off the tee, the necessity to hit long drives otherwise you'll be hitting long approach shots that simply won't hold on the greens. The greens are enormous though, and very true, so that a 20-foot putt started on line should duly drop in the hole.
It's a course that really is a delight to play, even in periods of poor weather, thanks to an extensive state-of-the-art drainage system that was put in place during construction. The clubhouse facilities are superb too, with personal meet-and-greet services from the friendly staff, highly-specced locker rooms and showers and elegant dining facilities replete with menus that would shame many a top-line restaurant.
Located near the picturesque village of Dunsany, just north of Dunshaughlin and overlooked by the ancient Hill of Tara, Killeen Castle enjoys easy access to the city, being only twenty five minutes from both Dublin City Centre and the International Airport.

checked in but some of the rooms not prepped, old towels still in room but was sorted quickly. Rooms were nice with a shared lounge with fridge and seats and tv, drinks prices were 7 euro for a pint. The restaurant unfortunately had a bad day with not enough steaks , only 7 left, and unfortunately 5 of them very undercooked and sent back,, food was not good for 12 of the lads there, chicken was ok for those who ordered it,

The course is for low handicaps. There are a lot of bunkers, all of which have steep faces. Buggies are a must as there are long walks between several holes. It is beautiful and it is kept in wonderful condition.

Wow another great course, the facilities are excellent. Some fantastic holes, only criticism would be the holes are well spaced out so its not long walk !!!. Again we had trolleys which is a must. Greens were quick, and again great views.

This course was a pleasant surprise after playing the K club the day before, the locker room makes you feel like a pro with the locker set up and sofas/chairs. Then you step out on the course and it gets better, avoid the rough at all costs, oh and the bunkers, The castle appears as the back drop for a lot of the holes which is amazing. This course was the surprise of the trip

The proshop was manned by a very friendly pro. The course is on fairly flat terrain but with some undulations and a certain amount of water. It would have been great if a course map was available. Green were of a very good standard but overly quick. The bar was good with a great outlook and friendly staff. They also have a restaurant. Car charging facilities are available.

Best of the lot! Course will suit all golfers, wide fairways great par 3’s. You will need to have a buggy, long walks to next tees. Fantastic views of the castle as you play course.

Unfortunately weather was bad but the course was great, some tough holes, some medium & some easy. Buggy had issues from 2nd hole but thankfully got it exchanged after 9. Held us back time wise. Would play again.

Fantastic golf course. Each hole was unique amd it was in great condition. The long driveway was really fun as it allowed a build of anticipation. The castle is a really unique feature that can be seen from several holes. Water was fun to play over and alongside. The halfway house was great too, good selection of coffees, snacks and very friendly staff. Overall it was a brilliant golfing experience!

Very long course and long distances between the hole and the next tee. The greens had been sanded so weren’t good. Great facilities and staff were very friendly.

Killeen exudates quality, fairways some of the best I have ever played on. Course is very playable but being designed by Jack Nicklaus lots of mind games with bunkering & intimidation factor. Great golfing experience.
