La Torre Golf is a Jack Nicklaus designed parkland course in the Murcia region of south-east Spain, around 15 miles from Murcia Airport. It's a par 68 layout that makes the most of a compact footprint, with a routing that keeps things interesting and a design that tends to reward accuracy over brute force.
Off the tee, you'll often see fairways that look inviting, but don't get too comfy. In classic Nicklaus style, the real decisions arrive on the way into the greens, where bunkering and the occasional water hazard can turn a 'go on then' shot into a dropped one. I'll be honest, it's the sort of Nicklaus design that looks generous from the tee, then quietly asks a few questions when you get closer to the green. It's not an exhausting slog, but it will quickly highlight questionable course management, especially if you're chasing flags when the sensible play is middle of the green.
That's why La Torre is a strong option for mid to high handicappers. You can play it enjoyably, learn something along the way and still come off the 18th feeling like you've had a proper test. As part of a resort set-up, it's straightforward and easy to navigate, with practice areas on site and a clubhouse that works well for groups. In Murcia's climate you can usually count on decent playing conditions for most of the year.
Better still, it's a handy base for a multi-course break. Nearby options like El Valle and Hacienda Riquelme are within easy reach, so you can build a varied Murcia itinerary without spending your holiday in the car. If you're planning a Murcia multi-course trip, include La Torre on your next golf break in the region.

La Torre, designed by the great Jack Nicklaus, is similar in style to the famous resort courses of Florida and as such players must safely negotiate vast swathes of sand and the ever present threat of water hazards lurking at the edge of the fairways and around the slick and true putting surfaces.
Measuring a meagre 5,945 yards from the back tees, La Torre is playable for golfers of all abilities and while talented players and the big hitters may find it to be comparatively short, the strategy and precision required from the back tees still poses questions of any golfers skill.

Green staff forcing us to start on the 7 and 9th tee splitting our group. Booking a comp middle of the day and having no regard for our round. Greens shambolic. Driving range wouldn’t dispense balls. Had to speak to 4 people to get buggies sorted.

Marshall could have encouraged two balls to join up to prevent us having to let two groups play through. We are not slow players.

Nice course which is perfect to play if staying on La Torre resort. Better courses around but this course is worth playing
