Littlestone Golf Club is a gem of a course, lying on the stunning coastline of the English Channel, at the heart of Kent's golfing paradise.
The club is set on the edge on Romney marsh providing the visiting golfer with a scenic walk over great links turf with the 16th tee only 100 yards from the beach. Renowned for its outstanding greens, Littlestone has previously been chosen to host final qualifying for the Open Championship when it was held at Royal St George's as well as other major golf events over the years.
Golf has been played at Littlestone since 1888 but the original design by William Laidlaw Purves, with bunkering added by James Braid, was damaged during the war and the club contacted well-regarded golf course architect Alister MacKenzie to assist with the rebuild in 1924.
Littlestone will certainly give you a good test of your golfing ability and when paired with other Kent courses like Royal St George's, Royal Cinque Ports and Prince's, is a perfect addition to a golf tour of the south-east coastline.

The Championship links course is a stern test and remains in terrific condition year round thanks to the dry weather produced by the local area's micro-climate. With a rich golfing heritage that began over a century ago, Littlestone oozes character and tradition, which is why so many make the journey to the Kent coastline to enjoy some of the finest links golf.
The current layout is the combined effort of three great golf architects. Originally designed by William Laidlaw Purves, James Braid was hired to position strategic bunkers around the course then the club contacted Alister MacKenzie to repair sections of the layout damaged during the war.
The course is littered with fairway pot bunkers and gorse bushes can often be found in amongst the rough. Approaches to greens are mainly bunker free allowing approaches to land short and roll onto the putting surface, a feature of many true links courses.
Littlestone Golf Club is ranked as one of the best courses in the South East and a must play in a Kent coastal Tour.
Guests are required to show an up to date handicap certificate upon arrival.

Littlestone Golf Club also has the lesser known Warren Course which provides the perfect partner to the Championship Links, although shorter it still provides a stern test when the wind blows and is set slightly further in land.
The naturally rugged layout was extended from 9 holes to 18 in 1993 and is built on the edge of the famous Romney Marsh offering firm, fast fairways amongst natural dunes, terrifying rough and classic links bunkering.

A beautiful day, so had a lovely time, if the wind was blowing it would be quite difficult. Lots of bunkers to catch you out. Really enjoyable round

Very good course set up very fairly with rough at a minimum and wide fairways the challenge being to avoid the bunkers especially the fairway traps. We were fortunate with a warm sunny day and only a slight breeze. Pro shop staff very helpful and arranged a buggy at short notice as one of our group broke his big toe a few days before we went on tour. I would strongly recommend a visit.

Littlestone proved a very testing first round. Course was in good condition. A 30mph wind made it very testing. Staff were very efficient and friendly.

Course was in dreadful condition with some fairways almost totally lost. Tee boxes were also in poor condition. The course would have also benefited from a buggy bar on the way round as there is no halfway house. Clubhouse was tired and the bar food was average at best. This was a bucket list course for most of my group and we were left feeling terribly disappointed at the shocking lack of value for money. £109 per round is quite frankly a rip off! We won’t be returning any time soon.

The course was being updated in terms of the fairways, and we had to use mats, which was not ideal! apart from that we enjoyed the course, and the greens.

Requires more signage on the course to help the first time golfer there to get round the course

Littlestone is a gem and we enjoyed playing it. The back nine is really interesting and a solid test of golf on every level However, the hot summer got the best of the fairways so they were in pretty rough shape. But that didn't stop us from enjoying our round. If you are in the area, don't miss it. Would like to play again when fairways are in better shape. (We spoke to some of the grounds crew who explained the reason the fairways were not so healthy. Wish the pro shop staff had let us know and explained before we teed off--would have helped. But the grounds crew were so proud of their course and thrilled we came all the way from US to play which made us feel better about the day.)

Good links course but was expecting a tougher test in the bunkers and some more undulations on the greens for a true links test. Back 9 was the better 9 for me.
