- 1 round at Murcar Links Golf Club
The golf course at Murcar Links was founded in 1909 by the then golf professional at nearby Royal Aberdeen, and was later refined by the prodigious James Braid. The links land is punctuated with gorse, whins and devilish bunkers, and the winds that whips off the North Sea certainly determines the character of the layout.

At 6,300 yards, Murcar is relatively short by modern standards, but that does not detract from the golfing experience. The fairways are unusually tight, demanding premium accuracy to find the correct position, and even then, the cruel humps and hollows can throw the ball off into some awkward positions.
Cut between dunes and streams, and bordered by heather, gorse and brutal rough, Murcar is as tricky as it is beautiful, and should certainly be part of any good Aberdeen golf tour.

Great fun course with a much better front 9 than back but still good to play. Few too many blind shots but a real challenge. Clubhouse service superb and food and drink excellent. A little expensive when standard compared to courses either side

Proper links course which was challenging but enjoyable for our group with handicaps from 12 to 18 Very tight fairways so accuracy of the tee is very important A few blind tee shots so tips from very friendly pro in the pro shop before our round were most helpful Would strongly recommend including as part of a trip in this area

A nice surprise - a bit scruffy round the edges but overall a fun course and worth playing

Great traditional club with a very challenging course. Greens were immaculate but the dry spell has baked the fairways and with the stiff breeze, a lot of the holes were tough to navigate with balls pinging off the fairways, which are very tight. Need to play again as plenty of blind shots mean local knowledge very useful. Layout is interesting and challenging and the club has a charming members venue feel. Not uptown the standard of close neighbour, Royal Aberdeen, but well worth a visit.
