Newmachar Golf Club

Newmachar is one of the standout golf clubs in Aberdeenshire, with European Tour and international event pedigree. Home to two contrasting 18-hole championship layouts by Dave Thomas, Hawkshill and Swailend, it's a smart pick if your group wants variety without changing venues. Add in a TrackMan range and you've got a proper practice-and-play day, just a short drive from Aberdeen Airport and only 8 miles from Trump International.

If you're building a north-east Scotland golf break, Newmachar pairs neatly with Trump International, and it works brilliantly as a first or last stop thanks to the easy airport access.

Who is this for?
Golfers looking for a high-quality, accessible golf experience in Aberdeenshire, particularly those flying into Aberdeen or building a multi-course itinerary around Trump International and the north-east's championship venues.

Who is it best for?
Mid-to-low handicappers who want a proper test on Hawkshill, plus groups or societies seeking variety and the option to play two contrasting courses in one visit.

Golf Courses at Newmachar Golf Club

Hawkshill Course

The par 72 Hawkshill Course is among the most challenging in the region, and opened for play in 1990. Likened by many to an American layout, the course is actually a quintessential Scottish inland course, bearing similarity to the King’s Course at Gleneagles. Water and mature woodland form the predominant backdrop for the championship course, and the diverse test of the Hawkshill makes it a must play to compliment the fine links courses that Aberdeenshire has to offer.

Swailend Course

1997 saw Newmachar add the Swailend Course to its armoury, and it has matured nicely. With the plantation of some 26,000 trees, the undulating countryside was transformed into a championship challenge. Though not as difficult as the tremendous Hawkshill, the Swailend Course has been a fine addition, and rounds off the outstanding Newmachar experience.
