Prestwick St. Cuthbert Golf Club was formed in 1899 and originally played a stone's throw north of today's site. The club moved in 1963 to make way for the development of Prestwick Airport, and the relocation gave St. Cuthbert the chance to build something different from the famous Ayrshire links nearby.
The current parkland course was designed by J.R. Stutt in 1963. In my opinion, it's the sort of layout that rewards clear thinking as much as ball-striking. You'll find tighter-than-average fairways in places, bunkers that sit exactly where you want to land it and mature trees that make course management a real part of the day. The greens tend to run true when they're up to speed, so a committed approach shot and a confident stroke on the putter go a long way.
It's a proper members' club with a proud history, but visitors are made welcome and the atmosphere stays refreshingly unpretentious. The course is usually presented very well in-season, and on a clear day you can often catch coastal glimpses beyond the trees. If you're building an Ayrshire itinerary, St. Cuthbert is a smart way to add variety alongside Prestwick, Troon and Turnberry, especially for groups with mixed handicaps.
Include Prestwick St. Cuthbert on your next Ayrshire golf break and you'll get a thoughtful parkland test with plenty of local character.
Who is this for?
Golf groups who want an Ayrshire base but fancy a parkland round to balance out the week's links golf.
Who is it best for?
Mixed-ability groups and mid-handicappers who score best when they plot it round rather than trying to overpower it.

Prepare to be challenged by a course that boasts not one but a whopping nine doglegs! This golfing adventure is not for the faint of heart, as accuracy from the tee is just as crucial as hitting those long drives.
The greens at Prestwick St Cuthbert are truly cunning. They have been meticulously crafted with sneaky slopes that will test even the most skilled players. And watch out for those clever little upslopes strategically placed on at least six of the putting surfaces. They are designed to catch your ball and prevent it from rolling past the front edge.
The clubhouse boasts an extensive menu that caters to every palate. From classic favorites to innovative dishes, something to satisfy even the most discerning taste buds. Whether you're craving a juicy burger, a fresh salad, or a mouthwatering steak.
