As part of Sandwich Bay’s legendary triad of Open Championship hosts, together with Royal St George’s and Royal Cinque Ports, Prince’s Golf Club is a classic seaside layout that remains at the heart of British golfing history. Prince’s remains somewhat of a hidden gem but it is undoubtedly one of England’s finest courses, the newly refurbished Himalaya's 9 and short game area complete the golfing experience.
Found in Sandwich, nestled among the striking sand dunes of Kent’s east coast, Prince's is an excellent option for UK golfers looking to play some true championship golf. The Lodge at Prince's Golf Club provides top-quality accommodation for those staying nearby and is the hotel of choice for golfers taking on all three of the Open hosts at Sandwich Bay.

Prince's Golf Club is a rare golf links gem with three loops of nine holes. The Shore, Dunes and Himalayas courses provide a memorable golf trip experience that sits proudly within the Top 100 Golf Courses in England.
As a past host of not only The Open Championship but also of numerous key professional events and most recently as co-host of The Amateur Championship in 2017 and 2013, Prince's Golf Club is a course that can provide a mighty challenge for the very best golfers, whilst providing a playable test off the yellows for the many who visit for a golf break in Kent each year.
Henry Cotton and Gene Sarazen are not only among the game’s greatest names, but are also at the head of the lengthy line of Prince’s admirers; among the accolades these golfing legends bestowed were “the greatest links course” and “Britain’s finest course”.
The layout itself is a classic seaside course in character, reflecting the inherent features of the local terrain. The humps, bumps and hollows created by the Kent coastline’s myriad of sand dunes are heaven-sent for golf, and course architect Charles Hutchings (1902 Amateur Champion) took full advantage.
Prince’s, like its visiting golfers, is always at the mercy of the elements, and the character of the golf course can alter dramatically with the wind. Rugged and unpretentious, Prince’s is pure links golf, and is without doubt one of the country’s brightest gems.
The Shore course is the longest of the three 9 hole loops and as the name suggests, it follows along the shoreline south towards the lodge which is located at the entrance of the course.

Accommodation was a little tired but polite helpful Hotel team more than made up for it. Food was delicious.
8 / 10
A little outdated in some areas, bedrooms for sure need sprucing up and the room I stayed in (Links Suite), although clean and comfortable, the hot water to the sink & shower took an age (if at all at the sink) to come through. I had it checked but advised as the room was at the end of the hot water flow, it would take time. That’s a hell if a lot of water wasted and the 5 nights I was there, there was no hot water at the sink (aside from wasting the water, the sink plug couldn’t hold the water in the sink).
The shaver socket didn’t work either. So again a little refurb will go a long way.
Staff were so friendly and supportive, the bar area is comfortable and the food very good, with a good selection on the menu to suit most needs.
It’s pay as you go if booking through YGT as opening a tab is not permitted unless you book direct with Princes.

Great lodge, friendly and professional staff and good facilities.

The hotel was clean and tidy, comfortable too. The staff were friendly and helpful. The evening meal and breakfast were both delicious

I would say we had a great experience as a group. However, service at the lodge was a lot poorer than expected. Despite having heard very good things, they were not the most accomodating. We had a table booked for 8.30 for dinner, and at before we even sat down and before some had even arrived at the restaurant we were made to 'hurry up and order'. We had to order before 8.30 as they said the kitchen would close. Despite on the phone 8.30 was totally fine, it was suddenly a problem on the day. When I explained that our table was 8.30 and we'll order as soon as we can, we got a response that was 'Yeah but we have some large groups so you need to hurry up'. we were all quite disappointed and felt like we were a nuisance rather than looked after.

Beautiful place and the staff were fantastic. All around fantastic experience.

Great trip, amazing setup. Breakfast could be improved.
8 / 10
Really enjoyable. Good choice of food. Lovely little bar. Comforting. Excellent staff. Only downfall was the bed, which felt like it needed replacing. It would also be nice to have drinking water in the room. The extra features in the room were also excellent, such as the golf bag caddy/storage, and it was incredibly spacious.
10 / 10
All the staff were brilliant and the food was lovely. Room was nice and clean with everything you might need.
6 / 10
Did not have a working shower the time I was there. Bar closed at 11.00.

It was our second visit to the Princes Club. The 3 combinations of 3/9 holes were taxing, interesting and fun. All very well maintained by ground staff. The staff in the clubhouse were excellent. Free
course guide and range balls. Bar staff were so pleasant and the food was good. Hotel was comfortable, again with helpful and attentive staff. The food was good and you could eat in the restaurant or the bar. We had one short downpour in 3 days on the course while the rest of the country was swamped. Great few days and right by the sea…a walk on the beach was lovely. Will go back for another stay next year.

Good basic standard and facilities. Plug in bath room basin difficult to put in and take out. Shower constantly going from hot to cold and back again. Remote for tv didn't work. Breakfast limited choice menu.

The stay was faultless. Lodge was outstanding and was a great set up, with communal space and then 2 separate twin rooms which were ace. Bar and restaurant was excellent, and the food was delicious. Both the dinner and breakfast the next morning. Would definitely return!

The staff were excellent.

Princes is the ultimate golf weekend. The courses are so good no matter what time of year you go. We went in a very wet March and the course was still in great condition.
Then you have the lodge just down the road which has a great bar and restaurant on site. The staff are all so professional and effective it’s great to see. The food is brilliant as well. I was really surprised as I thought it might be the thing to let the trip down but it was absolutely superb. They whisky collection they have is amazing too. 100% will stay there again in the summer.

Rooms were excellent. Could not find fault.

Excellent faultless

Our room was spacious and the facilities more than adequate for a short golf break. Food of a good standard and staff friendly and helpful. Very conveniently located within a few hundred yards from the clubhouse
8 / 10
Was unseasonably warm , but some air conditioning or even effective or ceiling fans would have been appreciated.
8 / 10
My group were playing golf at Princes so for us the location was amazing. The room was very spacious with good views of the course. The staff are friendly and hospitable. No complaints about our stay and would recommend.

Very well organised and amazing courses, fairly expensive but worth the journey

A great place to stay, a strong par 5 away from the clubhouse itself with its own bar and restaurant. Enjoyed using the putting green outside the lodge until sunset
6 / 10
Princes is a basic accommodation but clean. Rooms were not serviced on a daily basis. Staff were lovely and friendly. Food is average. We were surprised that our package stated half board only included dinner on the first night. Hotel is quite a distance from the course.
10 / 10
Fantastic stay at Princes. Very good quality food and a nice bar and outdoor area to relax in post round.
8 / 10
The hotel facilities are great (spacious and modern room), staffs are friendly, food are brilliant, although some rooms may hear the noises from the kitchen fan (need to ask staff help to turn it off).

A great night away and loved by all in the party

Great set-up with accommodation away from the Clubhouse but close to the beach and St Georges. Rooms are comfortable and facilities good. Beds could be bigger/more comfortable.

Could not have been happier with the lodge, was like a home from home!! Excellent

A fantastic setup for golf.

Very comfortable rooms

Basic but adequate and convenient.

Easy to find - simples check in. We had an apartment for 4 of us and it was spotlessly clean. Two bathrooms with excellent showers. The appartment (No 5) overlooked one of the greens at Royal St George and watching the greenkeepers preparing the green first thing in the morning was fascinating.
8 / 10
The hotel itself is a rather dull but functional design, however the staff were lovely and the beds were sufficiently comfortable to enjoy a good night's sleep after a BIG night. The dinner was good without being outstanding, but the supplements and 3 bottles of a modest wine meant that we each paid an extra £74 for our meal.

The Lodges are nicely furnished with two bedrooms and a shared living area. Not luxurious but perfectly OK. The staff at Reception and in the Bar/Restaurant were excellent.
8 / 10
Fairly basic accommodation, but everything you need. Food was certainly average for evening dinner, nothing to wow you, but was tasty. Staff all very friendly and accommodating. I would stay again as it’s convenient, friendly and solid standard across the board.
8 / 10
Perfectly located with beach and practice green, restaurant and bar. comfortable.
The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Generally exceptional. There was just one at breakfast who acted like I didn't exist.
The evening meal was excellent and the beers are good!
Our breakfast poached egg with avocado was vinegary, undercooked, and the avaocado not mashed. Esailiy remedied I'm sure.
Could do with a drinking water fountain somewhere.
Room spacious and comfortable.

Rooms are good, ideal for all you need for a golf break. We had a shared apartment so two rooms with en-suites. Restaurant and bar are good but can pack atmosphere if no one else is staying. But options in Deal or Sandwich. Excellent location for the courses along that coast
10 / 10
Great experience and covenient to play the 2 courses
8 / 10
The rooms were clean and comfy. The only real drama is breakfast as theres a lot of golfer to get through in a short amount of time and you must leave ample time from ordering to being served. This is all mainly down to the limited space in the dinning room and less a reflection on the staff abilities who were all very pleasant.
10 / 10
Ce fut un séjour parfait en tout point.
Un petit bémol, je dormais dans une chambre au-dessus du bar et l'insonorisation de la chambre serait à améliorer.
J'ai recommandé votre établissement à plusieurs amis depuis hier.

Accommodation is decent given the price. The food was also decent and the staff were good. The whole package is real value for money.

Everything was excellent
10 / 10
We've stayed in the Lodge before and once again the experience was great. It's spot on accommodation, the staff are brilliant, the food is great but most of all its golfing heaven. Sat between RSG's and Prince's the whole atmosphere is quality golf. Everyone's buzzing and talking about their round, the holes, the putts they canned/missed. Not to be missed!
8 / 10
Nice course. Great set up for groups. Accommodation ideal. Would definitely recommend.
10 / 10
The lodges were fantastic, for 4 golfers, having 2 bedrooms and then a shared lounge gave us plenty of space. The proximity to the bar and dining area means you don't have to go too far for anything.

The Lodge at Princes is The perfect place to stay when playing Princes golf club.
Accommodation is excellent and immaculate.
The thing that takes it to first class level is the staff. They are so helpful and professional. So the combination of the staff together with the quality of the food makes this an excellent place to stay.
Cannot recommend it highly enough!

Great location and excellent rooms. Bar and Food were very good but limited menu. Traditional golfing fare.

Accommodation was convenient and good value. Only criticism would be the lack of adequate equipment drying facilities. We had a very rainy round and had to dry some equipment and there was limited room to hang and dry kit.

The hotel was great for what we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and had places for your golf bag. The location was great for us being right next to Royal St George and Prince's. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant both days. The food was of a very good standard. If you did want use of a gym or pool then you had to travel to the local sports club, but we never bothered. Lovely views of both golf clubs and the beach.

Excellent room although it was very hot. It wasn’t a warm day so could do with aircon.

We were upgraded from a normal room to a suite overlooking the 5th green! We had told them in advance we would be taking our dog. They had very kindly left a dog bed, blanket, bowl, ball and treats in the room for her. The room was very stylish, comfortable and roomy.

Great accommodation at the Lodges. Very comfortable, clean, spacious & modern with all the usual amenities. Vey good restaurant & bar at reasonable prices. I would recommend them to anybody wanting to stay at Princes G.C.
