Royal Gems Golf City is one of Thailand’s most extraordinary and unique golfing venues. With several courses including 63 holes, it is the largest of its kind across the world and naturally attracts thousands of golfers each year.

The Jewell in the Royal Gems crown however is the brilliant imitation course which has drawn inspiration from the most famed and best courses that all golf fans know and love.

The resort, which was established in 2011, is just north of Bangkok and is just 60 minutes from the centre of Thailand’s capital and is Asia’s first ever golf course which emulates other holes.

Royal Gems Golf City

Since opening in 2011, the main course at Royal Gems Golf City has been a contender as Thailand’s main golfing attraction. Renowned course designer Ron Girl designed the 6689 yard, par 71 layout and has created a true masterpiece. The course starts by paying homage to the 3rd hole at Oakmont Country Club; the long, uphill par 5 even features the iconic Church Pews bunker on the left with more sand along the right and requires a straight tee shot. Yet another par 5 awaits on the 2nd hole, this time in the shape of Bay Hill’s 6th hole, it’s all about the tee shot here though as you’ll be hitting over a huge lake of water. While you may be relieved to see a par-3 up next, you’ll soon realise it’s not much relief as you’re now at a replica of the 17th at Sawgrass, make sure you hit the island green here or surrounding water lurks. Next up is another test of a famous hole, this time a 476 yard par 4, reminiscent of the 18th at the Doral Resort, a hole which has been voted as the hardest hole on the PGA Tour. Over to Royal Troon for the 5th hole where Royal Gem’s take on the Postage Stamp 8th is yet another exciting challenge; it may be the shortest hole on the course but don’t be fooled. The front nine ends with two of the UK’s most famous holes, the 8th is an imitation of the 17th Road Hole at St Andrews, including the punishing fairway bunker beyond the hotel and the 9th is the tempting 10th hole on The Brabazon Course at The Belfry; will you go for the green? Now, considering the absolutely front nine and its toast to some of the greatest holes in the world, the back nine does exactly the same but this time it’s all from one course. Holes 10-18 are all designed to emulate the magical back nine at Augusta National; test yourself on Amen Corner, try for an ace on the famed 16th and play one of the greatest closing holes in golf.

On the whole a round at Royal Gems Golf City is unlike any other golfing trip you’ll ever embark on and gives you the rare opportunity to play on some of the most iconic holes in golf. Much like to unique course, the extensive facilities at the impressive resort are great for travelling golfers, including a luxurious clubhouse with modern locker rooms, a fully equipped pro shop and a bespoke restaurant.
