The Manor Course, as it is now known, has seen a vast transformation in recent years when management wisely turned to Ross McMurray of European Golf Design, a highly regarded architect who was also commissioned to oversee improvements at Woburn, and the 2010 Ryder Cup venue in Wales, the Celtic Manor Resort.
The resultant 6,547 yards Championship Course, which is now regarded as one of the Norfolk's best courses, and have already hosted the PGA Europro players events. The challenge at the 7th, the Manor's signature hole, is to avoid the water that skirts the fairway.
The excellent putting surfaces are constructed in line with USGA principles, ensuring superb condition and adding to the terrific outcome. The golf course is ably assisted by Sprowston Manor's fantastic new practice facility, complete with a 26-bay floodlit range, which also incorporates the latest GASP tuition technology and the expertise of no less than 3 PGA professionals, all reputed for their superb tuition.

We had a great time away, but found the hotel a bit tired, had visited before when it was a Marriott and was great. The club house on arrival had little food and on bitter filter coffee available as the machine wasn’t working so we headed to the main hotel bar to see if we could get a bite to eat and the bar area was closed so no tea’s or coffees available and no food so we all headed out to a nearby McDonalds. The food for the evening meal was OK but just average.
Value wise it was OK for what we paid but just found the facilities a bit lacking and tired.
Service through booking via Your Golf Travel was great and couldn’t have been more helpful, polite and informative!

2nd visit this year. Food, accommodation & staff all excellent
8 / 10
Lovely hotel with helpful staff. Room was comfortable and clean but unbearably hot even with the windows open.
Dinner was an experience as it took three hours for a three course meal! Food was very good but the inexperienced, young staff were overwhelmed - thank goodness it wasn't busy.
8 / 10
Unfortunately the quality of food was poor. Chicken undercooked (bloody !! ) and had to be sent back. Main course overcooked and dry, overall a very disappointing evening meal.
Pillows were far too hard, awful. Management seemed to know this.
10 / 10
This hotel overall is great staff are so friendly and accommodating and the rooms are clean and tidy with all you need.

Wonderful our group all said what a great stay
8 / 10
Small but adequate room in old part of hotel. Was very windy so got rattle windows. Was a bit chilly so used the heater which was in room to make cozy. Tea, coffee and biscuits in room as well as toiletries so all good. Dinner excellent and several choices. Included 3 generous courses. Breakfast was good. My husband found the cooked breakfast a little in cool side as had been there a while but that’s only slight downside. He asked for freshly cooked eggs and they produced then quickly and without a fuss. Pleasant and happy staff.

Sprowston is a nice hotel,a bit tired in places but overall very nice. The staff were extremely polite and friendly, especially in the bar and restaurant. Reception wasn't always manned, which can be frustrating but I assume that was because there wasn't enough staff to go round. The food was OK. Because we had a package deal with the golf, we had to pre order, as there were 8 of us and the menu was extremely limited, only 2 or 3 options for each course. We saw other people were offered other more varied options. Portions were quite small. As for breakfast, this was poor. Dried up food, with grey looking scrambled eggs and leathery bacon etc and the continental breakfast not very enticing. However this wouldn't stop us coming again, as the gokf was great and it's proximity to Norwich park and ride is excellent (just a few minutes walk down the road) which was great for the members of our group that don't play golf. The ladies enjoyed that and also the spa facilities.
10 / 10
The Hotel was lovely. Rooms very clean & the bed was comfortable. The hotel reception staff were welcoming & restaurant staff very pleasant. This is a gem of a hotel!

Perfect! Lovely warm spacious room. Plenty of tea, coffee milk etc and toiletries to use. Comfy beds.
Restaurant was superb. Excellent choice of food and very generous portions of super tasty food served by attentive and friendly staff. Cosy lounge to sit in. Excellent spa and swim facilities.

Catering is an issue. After travelling unable to get coffee in hotel until bar opens and no food available until evening meal only in clubhouse which serves between 12 noon and 3pm. . Restaurant menu very poor.
8 / 10
Lovely food and very pleasant staff. Very helpful.
8 / 10
Great place with large pleasant room and comfortable beds. A twin gave us 2 double beds so a big bonus.
Excellent food and plenty in restaurant with attentive helpful staff.
Good golf course. Some delays on course due to slow play but this not the hotels fault. Possibly better if greater time lapse between tee times.

Hotel was very good and the room was a good size and a lovely comfy large bed
8 / 10
The hotel and facilities are on the whole nice, however the hotel offers no food during the day and neither does the golf clubhouse! Therefore having travelled for a few hours to get there before playing golf, we couldn't get anything to eat, not even a basic cold sandwich! This is not acceptable from a hotel which is advertising as a weekend resort.
10 / 10
What a fantastic golfing break. hotel was great, staff were excellent especially the evening bar and restaurant girls. my only issue was no food in the clubhouse after our golf. even a pie or a pasty would have been nice. other than that what a great 2 days
10 / 10
Room was spacious and enjoyed the tea and biscuits. The evening meal was exceptional in the hotel.

Food and service excellent. Special mention to our waitresses Ella and Megan who couldn’t do enough for us. Rooms a little tired but bed, shower etc all fine.
10 / 10
Excellent course. Demanding but fair. Greens, fairways and tees were great condition. Especially considering the lack of rain. Would really recommend this course. But go mid week as can get busy at weekends.

Overall a group of four of us had a really pleasant stay at Sprowston. really good value for money with decent food and rink on offer. Reasonable gym and pool included. Really happy!

Very pleasant stay. Golf course was suitably challenging, room was well equipped and the dinner was good value for money.
10 / 10
So comfy. Great rooms. Big tv. Staff so friendly. Couldnt do enough for us.
8 / 10
Look the Garry of course was terrific. The food overall was good. We were 12 for golf so the priority was socialising and golf. But the golf bar closed at 530 pm when golfers were still out. We teed off at 1115 so we're back in time other societies were not so could not get a drink or snack. The restaurant bar didn't open til 6 pm no lunch snacks or a lunchtime pint there. It also closed at 1030. So we could not enjoy the evening in the hotel. You can't put your expense on the room, cash or card only even though they took a card up front. Meals wer fron 630 to 8. We had booked meals through you. However on Saturday they forgot about us when we arrived at 730, all 12. They said it was fully booked even though we had paid already. After a fuss they found a side room and wavered the food cash supplements, you need to warn people that some meals have hidden supplements, £6.50 for beef wellington and £5 cheese board.
actually the side room allowed us to be noisy but of course we were forgot so the meal took ages. The rooms on the whole were clean but really hot. The windows only opened an inch. Our room had a pungent smell all the time, no room service so we had to hunt down tea coffee milk toilet roll soap etc. A member of staff said the new owners, Britannia hotels, look them up, halved staff hence the closure of the bars and slow and short meal times. We've been here before and enjoyed drinking eating etc at the hotel but if that's what a golf society wants, and on the whole you do, you will be disappointed.
8 / 10
Lovely hotel. Ideal. Great facilities Inc. Nice range to practice. Helpful staff play it again for sure.
8 / 10
From start to finish our stay exceeded expectation. The food was outstanding, the reception and bar staff were professional and incredibly friendly and helpful. The only minor negative was that the rooms were all a little 'warm'.
8 / 10
Stayed in a twin room, was very clean and good condition overally. Our TV was not working sadly but didn't bother wasting time to try get it fixed, but would have been good if it just works.
Spa was nice, and restaurant food was of very high standard. All the staff were friendly, helpful and always had a smile.
Would lightly recommend this hotel.

Booked twin bed rooms but on arrival were in doubles. ( not good for 4 male golfers!) however Zoe on reception very obliging and changed everything. Food and bar very good.
8 / 10
Despite seeing some bad reviews I had no bad experiences at all.
The whole hotel was fine, food great, and the staff were brilliant.
The two main bar staff Louise and Lauren were exceptional very helpful and always with a smile and chatty.
The restaurant staff were always cheerful too, despite being understaffed nothing took too long.
Onto the golf course, this was probably the best course we’ve played on our weekend trips away.
Overall everyone in our party, 6 couples, said that we’d certainly go back.
6 / 10
We recently stayed for a Sunday Driver, the course is in good condition and was a good challenge, however, the hotel restaurant was chaotic. Having booked a table for dinner at 8 pm we were finally served our starter at 8.55, we did receive an apology. The food was good when it arrived however the cheese board was disappointing as it contained "Babybel" which is very inexpensive. The staff tried their best but could do with more training.
Breakfast was poor, with most things running out at the same time, coffee, bacon eggs, etc. After reporting to the staff that more was needed it took 15 minutes before it arrived.
Conclusion, good course shame about the hotel.
8 / 10
Clean and comfortable room. Excellent pool, jacuzzi, sauna facilities. Bar and waiting staff friendly and efficient. A delicious evening meal and good choice for breakfast. Overall very good and good value for money.
8 / 10
Bedrooms and all linens were spotless. So that was good.
Food very poor needs new chef.
Not being able to get sandwiches in clubhouse very poor.
Will not be using Sprowston again
8 / 10
Greeted by frendly reception staff. Rooms were spacious 2 double beds in the room, and clean. Resturant was ok, service was good, and food tasty. Covid has affected the amount of staff but the group had no complaints withbour visit.
4 / 10
Overall very poor. No comparison with our previous two visits. Checked out at 18.55 on Monday 16th( our wedding anniversary)!! Two days early. Room was dirty. Safe did not work. No soap in bathroom. Nowhere in hotel or golf clubhouse to buy lunch. Dinner only available on Sunday 15th, though we had paid for 3 dinners. Rooms not made up during stay. Disgrace for a hotel of this type. Awaiting feedback From YGT on refund as hotel would not help. Will consult legal advice if a fair refund nut forthcoming.
6 / 10
Room fine, queued to check in, lack of feeling welcome, lots of signs re mask wearing etc but it was not being enforced any where in the hotel. Restaurant a bit tired, dinner okay but not brilliant. No ice cream. Tried to add a supplement of £5 for cheese when it was not shown on the menu and also tried to overcharge for a glass of wine although this was eventually corrected. Breakfast chaotic too many people trying to use a poorly laid outbuffet, lack of small plates, many hot item not refreshed, most people not wearing masks or distancing. It is a shame the quality of the hotel is not as good as the clubhouse and golf shop. Staff in Pro shop were good as well.
2 / 10
As this is no longer a Marriott hotel it has gone downhill dramatically. The organisation was a shambles with no sign of any management to sort it out. Instead it was left to young inexperienced staff who could not really be blamed. We have been twice before when it was under previous ownership but would definitely not go again.

Food was fantastic
Brilliant weekend away
8 / 10
It was fine overall. The food was not great but there was more than enough, probably suitable for golf societies.
8 / 10
Nice rooms and settings. Sadly during COVID difficult to judge how nice it normally was before the restrictions.
Evening meal was the downside. Four or us in the party I chose from a limited menu slow roast beef rib which was really nice but the 3 others all went for the burger. Diplomatically they chose not to complain as we only stayed for one night but the burgers were so overcooked they were virtually inedible
10 / 10
The quality, service and food at the hotel were excellent, I would happily go there again
8 / 10
No food in the golf club on arrival so had to go to shop and long wait for breakfast had to queue up for half a hour. Rooms very good and food very good
10 / 10
Overall the hotel and rooms were great, especially at the price paid. The only negative was that the restaurant was fully booked on the day (book the restaurant in advance to avoid this) and then getting a taxi was a slow process and with the new 10pm rules it wasnt worth going anywhere else. The hotel is a taxi ride from anywhere else. The hotel bar was very slow for drinks due to table service, but the staff were really helpful and did their best with new covid rules in place. Overall a great night away.
8 / 10
Staff great. Rooms very spacious and clean (we had twin room and got a double bed each). Due to Covid-19 there was a 45 minute wait for breakfast (due to limited numbers allowed in dining room). Could be better organised, but food was decent when we finally got in. We didn’t use spa facilities but they looked very nice.
8 / 10
Room was lovely, staff were great, only complaint was was not enough seating in the bar area due to alleged pandemic going on!! Apart from that fantastic will go again. 👍

service was good considering the current situation with Covid,, no breakfast menu but the food was good rooms very comfortable and clean

Superb location , lovely hotel , speed of service is slow , but friendly staff
8 / 10
Rooms were clean and tidy and the staff worked hard ,polite and helpful in these testing times
6 / 10
The hotel rooms were great very spacious clean comfortable. Plenty of toiletries. The golf course was great. Really enjoyed playing it. Pool area well maintained and clean. Enjoyed using it.
The restraunt let it down. Very inexperienced young staff who need training. They did their best. Had to wait far too long for food. 45 mins for starter but 4th person didn't get her for another 15 mins. So had to eat it on her own. Then another hour wait for main. Breakfast OK but the scrambled egg was like rubber.!! They need to sort this out. We don't recommend it. Your golf travel organised everything well as usual. No prob with that at all... Just the restraunt..

Went to play our first round as was no buggies had been reserved by Your Golf Travel as requested by me and confirmed by email
Booked our dinner time with reception but when we got to the restaurant was told no booking had been made finally eat at 10pm
Would not return and will not book with Your Golf Travel again

I have been before, and always enjoyed the hotel. however 2.5 hours at the dinner table, not helped by the fact I had to send my meal back. Service sooo slow!
8 / 10
very decent room with 2 x doubles. food was really good, bar prices are what you expect really.
8 / 10
Enjoyed our break as always. Clean rooms but very hot, air conditioning would be lovely.
Food not as good as when Marriott Hotel and disliked tea/coffee machines at breakfast!!
Spa excellent.
2 / 10
since going from Marriott to Brittania woned the hotel has gone down hugely! and the greens were poor!
8 / 10
Not a marriott now. Hotel staff very good. Food average.
6 / 10
Hotel is a tired Marriott looking worn and now needs attention. Table d’Hote choices were poor and we moved onto A la Carte which was average and lacked great choice as did the very limited wine list. Staff were very good. Wouldn’t rush back. It all lacked sparkle.
6 / 10
The room was actually very nice. It was large and well equipped with a spacious bathroom. Rated 1 star because of a mechanical noise which was at it's worse near the headboard of the bed. It was not our extractor fan/heating system/fridge. My family, who were staying, checked out and confirmed the noise existed (their room was the same without noise). It was a mechanical noise which in spite of us complaining was not dealt with in any way. Staff said that the hotel was old and had just changed hands and that a refurbishment was due in the next couple of years!! Do not allow yourself to be placed in room 107. You will not sleep!!!
