Aside from the Open Championship venues at St Andrews and Carnoustie, it could be argued that Belleisle is the best public golf course in Scotland.

Located just moments from the town of Ayr, this course is a real hidden gem and a must visit course on any Ayr golf tour.

Belleisle Golf Club

Designed in 1927 by James Braid, the course is stretched through the magnificent beeches of Belleisle Park, and is a genuine test of golf. The parkland course's main characteristic is a succession of long par-4s, often demanding safe negotiation of the serpentine-like Curtecan Burn.

Only two par-4s are below 400 yards, and with gems like the short 17th, there is no excuse for missing Belleisle. It may not have the reputation of its neighbours in Troon and Turnberry, but the fact that many professionals choose to come to Belleisle to hone their skills here is testament to the course's quality.
