- 1 round at Fullarton Golf Course
- 1 round at Lochgreen Golf Course
Part of a trio of good quality public courses in Troon, it was at Lochgreen that Jack Nicklaus qualified for his first Open Championship in 1962.
Troon Links, as the collective is known, allows for a golfer of any ability to have a course to suit them. From the short Fullarton, short in length tough in green size. To Darley, a tough course with precision the requirement. Lochgreen sitting in Troon town centre, sits in the middle of the other 2. The course wanders alongside Royal Troon’s sister course Portland. Once at the far side of the course, you come up next to Royal Troon’s famous 11th hole.
Troon is an Open Championship town with courses worthy of that stature.

The par-74 layout is an upland links, and will challenge golfers of all standards, especially at the outset; Lochgreen opens with a 473-yard monster par-4. Lochgreen offers a long course, but with room if you are trying to hit that tee shot a little further than you should. A Par 74 allows for higher handicappers the chance to get there in regulation in many of the Par 5’s that there is, maybe, just maybe, this is your type of course. Don’t let the yardage put you off, this is a challenge that will test all of your game. With several holes that are reminiscent of Royal Troon, this traditional, unfussy track is well worth a visit, while golfing in Ayrshire

Probably the easiest course we played - dry patchy fairways probably not untypical for late Summer. The greens however were some of the best Ive encountered - like carpets. Very true and reasonably well paced. An ideal course for the final day of a tour with scores generally in the mid-30's meaning everyone finished with confidence restored after the battles of Pretwick and Dundonald. Overall a great 4 day tour at a modest cost.
