3 Nights, 3 Rounds
- 3 Nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at Macdonald Spey Valley Championship Resort
- 2 Rounds at Spey Valley Golf Course
- 1 Round at Boat Of Garten Golf Club
3 Nights, 3 Rounds
Boat of Garten is best described as a Highland gem. Legendary architect James Braid shaped a cracking layout in the Cairngorm National Park, with heather-fringed fairways threading through ancient Caledonian pine and mountain views that distract you in the best possible way.
Set in the Spey Valley, the course is surrounded by famous distilleries and big outdoor scenery, but the golf stands on its own merits. The routing makes the most of the natural ground, mixing tighter pine corridors with more open heathery stretches, plus the odd burn waiting to collect anything pushed offline. Bunkering is well-placed rather than overdone, so you'll need to think your way round and pick sensible lines from the tee.
It's not links golf and it's not manicured parkland either. If you like courses with character, a proper Highland feel and a walk that's worth it for the views alone, this one delivers. Keep an eye out for red squirrels in the trees and ospreys overhead, then finish the day in Aviemore or on the whisky trail nearby.
Who is this for?
Golfers who want an authentic Scottish Highland experience away from the crowds, combining quality golf with stunning scenery and a genuine sense of place. Ideal for those planning a Spey Valley golf tour or looking to pair rounds with whisky trails and outdoor pursuits.
Who is it best for?
Golfers who appreciate strategic, natural golf and don't mind a walk. Also suits groups and societies seeking variety on a Scottish itinerary, particularly those who value character and setting over big-name courses.

With the River Spey flowing alongside, and the heather blooming around the silver birch forest, there are few more beautiful places to enjoy a round of golf. However, this is not merely a pleasant stroll; James Braid has used his considerable skill to manipulate the remarkable setting into a tight, challenging proposition. The course features birch tree-lined and rolling fairways winding through the Scottish highlands.
Long it is not, but the subtleties instilled by its creator make accuracy more important than brawn, and ensure that Boat of Garten is thoroughly enjoyable to all those who visit.
Experience a slice of history with a trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway, running from Boat of Garten to the bustling village of Aviemore.

Beautiful setting, fast greens. Too many bumps and hollows means the ball is above or below feet. Buggy required.

This course is a real test of golfing ability. Set in a beautiful location with plenty of heather and woodland to ensure you get to see a lot of the course. Truly magnificent course with a few surprises especially the fifteenth!

Friendly welcoming staff, weather had been as issue the day previously so all the course was very wet,a couple of the front nine greens were a little rough. Well worth another visit to this Parkland/links course. Highlight was a family of deer on the course and the scenery

I have been coming to BoG since I was 17 and it gets better and better! Somewhere you dream of..... Strathspey Steam railway down one side, Spey river down the other side with the Cairngorms in the background. I would highly recommend this course to anyone whether high or low handicaps. Great clubhouse for food and drink and Top Pro Ross Harrower in a well stocked shop. Truly wonderful experience...
