Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor

Hotel excellent. Shuttle bus to course accommodation evening meal and breakfast all excellent and value for money.

Hotel is nice & comfortable but dated in places & there’s next to no WiFi available but staff friendly

Friendly welcome and check-in team went over the details of our 2 night stay including oit brrakfast and dinner details. They also booked a slot for us tp use the gym/spa facilities. Twin Room was spacious and comfortable,good shower and room temperature was easily controlled. Only downside was the bed was very comfortable(for me anyway). Breakfast options were very good, buffet, yoghurt, continental and fresh fruit. Evening meals were excellent, but a little disappointed that nobody pointed out whether we could use our evening meal allowance on the bar menu. All in all a very nice hotel.

The hotel is approx a 5min drive form the Celtic Manor Resort, we didn’t eat or drink in the hotel as there was a beefeater pub or McDonald’s a 5min walk

Everything was great, with one issue, the shower could due with a bit more pressure, but that’s just a small issue.

McKenzie was a great host, superb staff and lovely food!

Room was good food good but expensive very disappointed our dinner allowance was only £30 basically only choice was a burger not what I call half board breakfast was poor .

Awake from 03:30 due to road noise and a pump that powered up every 20-30seconds. The free wi-fi was useless. Menu unimaginative and a bit over-priced. The worst hotel I've sy=tayed in with you.

The hotel was great. However, you will need to pay £12 for parking your car there. We were unable to use the spa facilities because they had been booked out for swimming lessons, this was a little bit disappointing.

There was an error in the booking list sent to the hotel so we didn't get the rooms that had been confirmed to us. The hotel staff did their best to accommodate but as it was the Bank Holiday weekend we had to make so with a sofa bed. Disappointing from YGT

Rooms were very nice, beds comfortable and food great, drinks were expensive but all round good trip.

Room very nice 2 double beds tv tea coffee ,lovely hot shower.had 3 course meal and good was amazing...Pints of ale and lager ok at £6.85.

Room lovely. The service at the Rib was appalling, we were made to feel like an inconvenience and having the bill bought early, persuaded us to leave early. Bored, unsmiling service and woefully average food. Not a pleasant experience..

The shuttle bus services was poor apart from that it was great.

Lady who was front of house at the restaurant wasn’t helpful at all, when wanting to go for food in the restaurant complained that we hadn’t booked a table even though we weren’t told we had to said so we nearly didn’t get to have food on the first night, wouldn’t let us just have a look at the menu until we got in the restaurant said we can wait. She later brought our food over and her mannerisms were just rude

Excellent hotel staff very helpful

Hotel and staff were great. Ethan looked after us when we had meals and made everything run smoothly. We were a large group of 28 and didn’t hear any negative comments for the 3 nights we stayed and ate. It would be handy for large groups to send the food lists out before hand as it’s difficult to get round everyone in the evening to get their food choices.

The Accommodation as always was at a very high standard, clean and welcoming. However the food allowance given by Your Golf Travel per person is simply not enough, with the budget of £30 per person, is not enough to cover some of the basic evening meals, this needs to be looked at.

Hotel was great overall and the staff very attentive and coulndn't do enough for a group of 24 golfers. Rooms were very spacious and the food from the bar menu and at the onsite Rib restaurant was great. The facilities at the hotel were very good as well,but one thing to note you do have to pay £12 parking for each day of youe stay! The only gripe we had as a group was although transport was included for the golfers up to the 3 Golf courses the courtesy bus up to the main resort (hotel) is no longer provided which was little disappointing. Overall though a brillaint experience.

Staff very helpful...though there was an issue with the names on the room list, it was sorted very well by reception staff....disappointed that we weren't informed by YGT that there was a £12 car park charge

Overall the group enjoyed staying at Coldra Court. We were however disappointed to find that we were charged for parking in the hotel car park overnight at a cost of £12 per car which we were not expecting. There was also a cap on the price of dinner that was supposed to be included in the deal. The limit was £30 per head which was reasonable but reception tried to charge us £24 per head for overspending on the meal front. They based their assumption that we had only four rooms as opposed to 7 people. This was sorted relatively quickly when we checked out. We are still awaiting reimbursement of the £50 per room we had to leave as a deposit. Rooms were great, spacious and comfortable.

The hotel was ok but a little basic. The hotel was pretty basic which was disapointing as we assumed paying for the celtic experience it would be more inclusive and designed to a VIP feel. The advertising itself, in truth, i thought we was at celtic manor and did not realise was a hotel offsite

Our group of 8 were really happy with the hotel and facilities. No complaints whatsoever.

Didn’t get to try the facilities. Staff were amazing. Never experienced service like it. Only issue was for a £140 meal (so £70 each) the food was very average. Steak was well done when it was meant to be medium. But everything else was outstanding.

Stayed with a group of 20, decent breakfast and the Restaurant is fine. Drinks are expensive and was completely put off by having to pay to park as a Hotel resident.

Top tip. Park at the Roman/Montgomerie road and leave you vehicle for free and use the free shuttle service. £10 to park at the hotel as a guest. Big rooms. 2 double beds in a twin. Buffet style food for our group of 36 was spot on. Bar is a bit pricey.

This is a great option for those on a budget. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Decent enough bar and restaurant.

Satisfactory, very good rooms, good shuttle service to all site locations. the food was very good, some service issues that you not experience on the continent, short staffed in some areas. Strange thing,(for a 4 star hotel),to close down the bar service at 11.30 also not to be sitting outside in the courtyard after 9.30pm, disappointing on a warm summer night to say the least. Check/front desk dealings are tediously slow and frustrating. overall though decent clean hotel with good rooms.

Absolutely amazing and welcoming

Convenient proximity to the Courses and just off M4. My room was clean but a little 'tired'. Others in my party has better room with air conditioning.

The hotel & staff were excellent, the room was clean and spacious, no issues there. However, I was not impressed with the £10 per night to park your car, even though we were staying at the Coldra Court itself Also the meal budget of £30 per head given by Your Golf Travel did not cover the evening meal, based on the restaurant prices in the Coldra Court

Overall a great place to stay. Had an upgraded room which was excellent, very spacious and comfortable with nicely-fitted-out bathroom. Only small quibbles would be that there wasn't enough lighting so a little dim. Could also have benefited from a mini-fridge in the room but really comfortable room and bed. Restaurant food and service was very good - excellent caesar salad. Menu choices were a bit meat-heavy with very few options for vegetarians or vegans. Bar prices probably a little above average, especially 2010 clubhouse.

Have to say, the Coldra Court hit the spot for a two night overnight stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were good, and the location was spot on. The complementary shuttle transfer service between the hotel and the various courses at Celtic Manor were brilliant. Spa and Gym were okay, maybe some modernisation needed - but still plenty good enough for a short stay. Only negative was that the on site bar was very expensive - nearly £5 for a large soft drink is extortionate and almost diminishes the benefit of not drinking alcohol.

Very clean hotel great staff and good choice of food. The best part is when you need to get to the corses they radio a transfer for you as it 5 mins away from the corses.its a free transfer and the drivers are excellent

Very good and clean rooms and hotel, asked if I could get a massage and reception lady said they don’t. Went swimming and the had a sports massage room there 🤯

Room was large, bed comfy king. Bit of faff to start as first 3 rooms were twins so bit of hanging about but they sorted it out.

The room was large and in a good state of decor. Two mid size double beds, we would have preferred one king size double. External appearance of the hotel a little worn & could be improved. Confusion at check in as they had us on the wrong dates, but corrected with a smile. Food OK, nothing exceptional. Location very convenient just off the large roundabout junction with M4, but signage could be better.

Purchased this "golf resort & PGA course experience" as a gift for my husband & friends. Due to the recent bad weather the courses were unplayable ... but this was not communicated prior to the group making a 4hour journey from Yorkshire to S. Wales. So the group arrived to find no golf available to play. The golf can be re-booked however the accommodation cannot. Very disappointed that 6 people took two days off work to make this special trip only to find it a "wash-out" in more than one way. The most disappointing part was the total lack of communication from the resort to advise what were the options prior. The golf team knew the course was totally unplayable. Very unprofessional and very unfair of the organisation.

The hotel was ideal and well located. The staff and venue were first class. The car parking fee of £10 per night was an unexpected surprise.

After arriving and being told we weren't booked in, eventually the reservation was found at 17.00 and with good PR in mind, we were upgraded to a slightly better room. All in all Coldra is what it is, a slightly dated, slightly upmarket travel hotel, that is quite large, with a large number of people passing through, with the bare mimimum staffing levels, which has been honed by the years of its experience of minimum staffing levels. Rooms are good but leaving the last occupants bottles and glasses outside of every room along the corridor wasn't the high end of welcome to your room nor good service.

Decent hotel, only thing that let it down was the state of the leisure facilities. Steam room was out of order and the jacuzzi was intermittent

A one night stay at this hotel with Bed, breakfast and evening meal (£25 allowance each) and a round of golf on the Twenty Ten Ryder cup championship course was a memorable experience and the staff from hotel to Pro shop to welcome at the golf venue and the locker room exploration was an amazing experience from start to finish. We cannot thank the staff enough for the very warm welcome and are already planning to return next spring for a longer break.

Shame you get charged £8.50 per night.

The hotel services are very good and comparable value versus the cost of staying in the main resort.

Hotel was lovely. Food was very nice. £8.50 for parking over night was a bit steep especially when we paid all that money for the holiday. And got charged 10% gratitude tip for food when we checked out the next morning. Wanted to buy a shirt from the pro shop but did not have 1 shirt that was xxl or xxxl. Loads of small, medium + large. Come on pro shop. About time we had some clothes for the larger people. Overall the stay , courses and hotel are not as good as they were a few years ago. Cant even spend cash, that was a bit of a pain. My friend didnt have a bank card, only had cash.

Amazing value for money

Hotel & their staff were great .. only very minor gripe is the price of drinks butcthis did not distract from how good the staff in particular are.

Only criticism is the hotel is not easily found from Celtic manor, apart from that room was great.

Rooms were clean and well presented, no plug socket for the kettle we had to put it on the bedside table. Also parking charge £8.50 per night. We were not told about the minibus shuttle from the hotel to the course or free parking by the club house (leave the car at celtic manor and use shuttle)

Unfortunately, the Coldra was overbooked. We didn't find this out until we turned up there. However, we were moved to the main Celtic Manor Hotel which was very good.

No real complaints on the hotel. Annoying that parking is extra and no one tells you till you check out.

Great time in the hotel. Bonus of gym and spa use helped at the end of long golf days. Only needed to check on parking situation as does seem a little cheeky asking for parking fees when staying at hotel and also asking for two nights worth. Other than that, good food and value for money! Would highly recommend

Originally disappointed not to be in Celtic Manor. However the hotel room was great and the Smokehouse restaurant was excellent! Slight downside was loud stag group which detracted slightly from an overall good experience.

First class

This is a great hotel, everyone is geared towards helping the guest enjoy the experience. Bit difficult to find your way around from the golf courses but it's a gem.

Accommodation was as expected, but it is effectively separate from Celtic Manor. There was no shuttle, which meant we had to rely on the local taxi company to shuttle us. This is a small fare trip for them, which meant we waited +1hr for a car to become available. We booked a cab to collect us and take us back to the course for day 2, but this showed up 25 minutes late which meant we almost missed our tee time and had a very rushed start. Staff were as helpful as they could be, but I would say if you can't get into the main resort and don't have a car, consider other courses.

As always our stay was great and couldn’t ask for more! The only thing that we miss is the sprinter vans that take you from the courses to Coldra court and up to the Manor House in the evening, I think they would be a very welcome return

Room was pleasant enough, and serviced as hoped for. I was with a party of 8, staying 2 nights dinner B&B. We had a paltry £20 a night dinner allowance which didn’t even cover most of the main courses. The hotel is card payment only which caused a nightmare for a group used to a cash kitty, so with the differing food and drink costs we needed a qualified accountant to work out individual costs. Very disappointing!

Good location if your golfing. Smokehouse restaurant was excellent. Rooms were fine but could do with a bit of a refurb. If you can’t get into Celtic Manor it’s a decent option but not quite to the same standard as it’s big sister at the top of the hill. Parking charges for guests feel a bit excessive.

Just perfect for a golf trip. Couldn’t fault it.

The rooms were fine and what we expected, The bar was good although expensive as you expect The restaurant was very good the food was very good staff are very good, the only problem was there was a query with the bill we was expecting a £20 allowance in the restaurant as we had booked dinner bed and breakfast in the original booking but the reception were trying to charge us the excess. I showed the manager the original booking which clearly states dinner bed and breakfast. it was sort but again our group wasn’t happy either mess up.

Lovely hotel with good facilities. Staff are very friendly. Only complaint is I ordered a double room and had two single beds pushed together. Not very comfortable! If you pay for a double room, it should be a true double bed!

Parking isn’t included and have to pay £8.50 per car over night which our group thought was off, should be included in the price. Selection at the restaurant was okay, lots of meat and general options. No pasta on the menu. Service was slow in the evening, over 2 hrs for main and dessert. Coffee in the morning tasted odd but selection otherwise was good. Bar quite pricey but expect that I guess.

Good hotel, good rooms, no problems

Absolutely Disgusted at having to pay £7.50 a night to park., especially as I was there with a friend who also had a car. No shuttle bus to the golf course which is not ‘just across’ the road. Drinks very pricey. Would not return.

Overall rating a 4* Checking in took a little time as colleagues clearly new. Didn't mind myself as could see this, however some guests weren't being so polite. Room was large and comfortable. Outside drinking space closed off at reasonable hour and outside lower floor rooms. Not sure if hotel is being updated but our bathroom was very outdated and not what I would have expected. Some others in our group had new walk in showers etc. Others in the group used the pool, sauna etc and we're really pleased with this. Hot breakfasts were cold each morning, we did mention this however didn't get any better the next day. Bar food and main restaurant were simple choices but very nice priced reasonably. Restaurant colleagues and most bar colleagues were very attentive and great to have a chat to and engage with. Alex the manager and Ethan the bar colleague were fantastic. Stayed over the ryder cup weekend and they didn't seem prepared for this, with one TV in the golf and a projector that clearly wasn't up to the task. There will be a few complaints I'm sure from golfers about this weekend.

Not sure what happened at the Coldra but will not be staying here again any time soon, missed meals as not delivered on some cases! We waited 2 hours for meals on the first night and staff were setting out breakfast tables while we were waiting for our main courses. The desserts on the second night did not get delivers at all, and we left to go to bed without eating desserts it was again so late. The staff were apologetic but we missed out on our food that had been paid for in advance. The Hôtel Manager is supposed to be calling me.

Everything excellent just the breakfast let it down

Last time our group stayed here we were able to order food off of a menu,this time we were given choices buffet style and the quality has definitely suffered for it,as organiser i had a lot of complaints about the food,also the service behind the bar was very slow

The Staff were amazing. They looked after our group of 20 very well, catering to the needs of our guys well around the COVID restrictions in place. The food was great on the evening, as they put on a buffet and area for us to watch the football. The bar staff were a little over run, but were clearly working hard and remaining very calm in the face of some trying behaviour from one or two of our group. Well dont for that. The only downside was the taxi service from the Golf clubhouse back to Coldra Court. The minibus only shuttled to the main resort, and the on call taxi service promised could not facilitate the size of our group very easily, and we were left waiting for about 90 minutes trying to navigate getting transport for the 4 minute drive back to the hotel. Beyond this, there was absolutely nothing they could have done better. Thanks for a great stay.

Very bad service staff very rood

Nice room, evening meal okay, cooked breakfast poor, they need to find out that mushrooms need to be cooked, staff were very nice, room was nice.

Second time of staying at this hotel when playing golf at the Celtic Manor, always wonderful staff and an relaxed easy hotel to stay in whilst on your golf trip, slightly marred by the Covid experience but i guess that is part of life now.

Nice hotel with good facilities. Evening meal was excellent although my brother didn’t receive his starter or main until the rest of our party had finished. Breakfast was mediocre.

Hotel and rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was well organised with a good choice. Unfortunately suffered from some of the hot items being kept too long in containers and becoming dried out. Dinners were well cooked and presented. Staff all pleasant and helpful.

Hotel brilliant my only issue I had was not enough buses to and from hotel to course

We had the fortune of being upgraded so enjoyed two double beds and an exceedingly pleasant room. Staff were courteous and very helpful.

5 minutes from the Celtic Manor complexing but free shuttle bus available. Food great, drinks a tad expensive but that’s norm these days. My only gripe is that when I pay for the privilege of staying at a hotel I don’t expect to have to pay to park my car on the hotel car park, wrong in my eyes. Other than that good value for money

Bed was uncomfortable and small we were given a double bed not two singles, which had to be changed, the food was really awful, and it was too far from the resort. The bar area is like an airport lounge or waiting room with zero atmosphere both in the front and the back.

When we tried to book in the staff had no details of who was rooming with who despite me putting in all the details well beforehand on your booking form. The rooms were all meant to be twins but 3 of them had been made up as doubles so that was another cock-up. The £100 resort voucher I was given at the time of booking, they knew nothing about that which was another embarrassment (they did honour it the next day though) and at the end of the stay they charged me £35 for drinks I never had so simply not good enough.

Without being luxurious the Coldra Court was clean, comfortable spacious. The restaurant served a variety of meals to suit most palates. Service was a little slow but the staff were courteous and helpful.

I complemented a few staff on their professionalism and courtesy (intended to be passed to all the staff we were involved with) - and told them that I thought my experience at Trump's Aberdeen Links couldn't be beaten. They did - by a small margin - which is magnificent. Congratulations to the staff at Caldra Court and the golfing staff at Celtic Manner on all courses.

The actual hotel is very nice, big rooms with big comfy beds. Good shower room, TV & tea making facilities. A little bit of noise from the corridor outside, but not too late or early. Slightly disappointed with the restaurant, the starters were good, but the main a little bland & tasteless, both of us ordered the pork belly with crackling, gratin potatoes & carrot puree. The pork was slightly dry & tasteless, as was the crackling. the gratin potatoes were soggy & tasteless & the carrot puree was no more than a squirt of garnish. To be fair they offered us free dessert as way of compensation, but the menu was very limited & nothing took our fancy, so they gave us a couple of free drinks instead.
