Joining the list of courses to have hosted The Ryder Cup was a new dawn for Welsh golf and the addition of The Twenty Ten Course launched Celtic Manor into the world’s golfing elite. 2020 saw the European Tour return to Celtic Manor and the Twenty Ten course for the Celtic Classic. Sam Horsfield claimed the title of the inaugural event with a final bogey free round of 67, two clear of Thomas Detry. The win was Horsfield's second in the UK Swing series of events having won the Hero Open at the Forest of Arden a few weeks earlier.
The Twenty Ten Course at Celtic Manor is ranked as one of the best courses in Wales
Signature hole - No. 14: Par 4, 413 yards, SI 2
This tricky par 4 sums up the Twenty Ten's lake-lined challenge, with two separate bodies of water to negotiate. Players have to choose between either a bold carry with the tee shot or else the approach. Most opt for an iron off the tee to avoid a watery fate to the left; while those brave enough to fly the lake can leave themselves a short, straightforward pitch.

Nicely presented- drainage had been improved. But still wet- would return in summer. Greens needed work on them , patchy , slow, and several bumpy. Dispite considerable amounts of water and bunkers found the course to actually be quite open. It is still a very good test.

Maybe expectations were to high but was a little disappointed on the overall condition. Seem to pushing the 2010 Ryder cup experience but the course was tired in some place. Pace of play was 5 hours, in a golf cart. No ranger to help keep it moving. Held up but the group in front, of what seemed like new golfers. causing the group behind to catch us up on many holes. There should be a handicap limit to keep the pace of play in track. If you use a buggy you had to keep to the cart paths which meant taking a number of clubs with you if your ballwas on the opposite side to the path. Overall the course was challenging but below expectation of a prestigious venue. Like The Belfry feels like it’s holding onto “The Ryder Cup venue” tag line but the course not keeping up. Would I play it again, probably not but it’s ticked off the list.

Much better condition than the Montgomerie. The fairways were mostly dry. Good greens. Lots of water hazards.

Greens had recently been punched, other than that was great.
