Nestled in the heart of the New Forest National Park, The Bell Inn is immersed in natural
beauty, the perfect destination to escape the real world for a few days. For golfers, it just
keeps getting better; The Bell Inn is home to the Bramshaw Golf Club where you will find two
distinct but outstanding golf courses complimented by sister course, Paultons Golf Centre,
which hosts a modern 18 hole Championship course.
The Forest Course is not just the oldest course at The Bell Inn but in all of Hampshire, dating
back to 1865, the course has only improved with age. After a round, you’ll step off of the
fairways and into the comfort of the Grade 2 Listed country inn, where you are treated to a
warm welcome and some of the best cuisine in the region.

Bramshaw's Forest Course is the oldest in Hampshire, having been constructed on common
land in 1865. The idyllic landscape dictates the style of the course, which encompasses numerous humps, hollows and meandering streams. The heathland of the New Forest make the course relatively open, but the small targets and tight fairways ensure that this a considerable test.
For anyone who's played common land golf, the Forest Course is golf in its purest form. While ponies and cattle graze on the heath, golfers are eased in to their round on a tricky front nine which is followed up by a trio of testing long par fours on the homeward stretch. Although the course appears short on the card, three of the five par-threes measure over 200 yards and pinpoint accuracy is required to negotiate the many streams and small greens. Whilst approach shots need to be accurate, off the tee you’ll be met with friendly wide open fairways. When you play can you spot the big 5? Deer, Pigs, Cows, Donkeys, New Forest Ponies.
The Manor Course, opened in 1970, has added considerably to Bramshaw Golf Club, and is
entirely different in style to its neighbour; the Manor is carved into the mature woodland of a 200 year-old hardwood plantation, and as a result accurate driving is the most valuable asset. The gently undulating fairways lead to some of the best putting surfaces in the South.
This array of options makes the Bell Inn an extremely interesting option for your next golf break in the South.
Just a 10 minute drive away is Paultons Golf Centre, the jewel in the crown at here the stunning Championship course which measures 6,238 yards off the back tees. It provides sweeping, open fairways along with woodland scenery, delivering a fun and rewarding challenge for golfers of all abilities.
Why not warm up on our ball tracing technology driving range or our 6 hole academy

I think this is an overpriced venue, the food was fine but the venue was somehow lacking in professionalism, for the money we paid there are far more venues offering much better value for money. It was quiet and pleasant which is a plus but the stay was not as smooth and hassle free as it should have been (buggies restricted to winter mode so couldn’t go off the cart paths. We were told we needed to come out of the lounge because the staff needed to close it (at 11.30 pm) not ideal. No one had heard of the bar discount and I had to keep contacting YGT to get it sorted out. The manor course however is lovely.

Rooms were comfortable and location very good for golf. Booked half board but that means £25 toward evening meal which limits you unless happy to spend the extra on starters, desert and sides. Cannot praise the team highly enough. Fantastic service from front of house, restaurant & Bar staff through to the Kitchen Team and housekeeping, all excellent. Be sure to double check your hill when checking out to ensure the £25 meal allowance has been taken off. Would stay here if visiting the area again in the future.

It is a very nice Inn in a beautiful part of the New Forrest. It is quiet so not great for big groups or someone wanting a bit more on the social side. The issues they have are with their staff. There was one excellent staff member called Jamie who was phenomenal. The rest of the staff in the bar & restaurant where either absent, seemingly intoxicated or not very competent. I think it is hard to get good staff at the moment and you definitely feel The Bell Inn is a victim of that as they are so close to nailing it. The food is truly excellent.

This is a great place to stay and not just for the golf, our room was a good size for 2 guys at over 6'. The staff were very friendly and helpful there was never any waiting for service. but the big winner for both of us was the restaurant and food (albeit a pricey) both dinner and breakfast

Our golf break, staying in the Bell Inn was a great success.
We were greeted by very friendly staff and members, as well as some excellent weather. The accommodation was excellent with good food but we will probably order from the menu next time rather than take the golfer's menu.
We decided to play the Forest Course twice as the tee time for the Tuesday was a bit of a wait. This is an excellent course though, with the added hazard of New Forest ponies and cows! As the oldest course in Hampshire it certainly felt like how golfing used to be and none the worse for it. Scoring 42 points on the first round I was certainly happy!
The Manor Course was quite busy with competitions but we will be happy to return and book tee times that allow us to take in both courses next time.
A great couple of days.
