Situated just two miles north of Trump International Links and midway between Royal Aberdeen and Cruden Bay, Newburgh-on-Ythan is a great add-on to any tour of Aberdeen. The club was founded in 1888 and overlooks the North Sea and Sands of Fovie National Nature Reserve.

Newburgh is a short drive from Aberdeen City Centre and extends the unbelievable run of fantastic courses, Royal Aberdeen, Murcar, Trump then onto Cruden Bay and finally North to Fraserburgh. A classic stretch of golfing turf, one you must get in the dairy.

Newburgh-on-Ythan’s Clubhouse is famous for being in the shape of a bird, in keeping with the area, where there more wildlife than you would expect to see on the course thanks to the Nature Reserve.

Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf Club

It is now an 18 hole golf course with an outward nine characterised by natural hills and undulations requiring a range of shot-making in accordance with a traditional gorse lined golf course.

The inward nine demands accurate play from tee to green and is the epitome of a typical Scottish Links course noted for its magnificent setting and superb greens. Once you wander towards the back nine, in amongst the Nature Reserve you start to appreciate the courses beauty and the views will allow for some poor golf, as they are so spectacular. Put this on your play list and allow nature to take over, well worth a visit. It was voted the 6th best course in Aberdeenshire by Golf World Magazine in 2013.
