It's fair to say North Foreland Golf Course will test every department of your game - the sea breezes constantly challenge your shot-making and your distance control. This exposed course is always in great condition, though, with greens that provide testing putts over fast running surfaces with subtle slopes. The rough is tough but fair, and there are great coastal views to enjoy.
Situated on the Kent coast at the point where the English Channel becomes the North Sea - and is lucky enough to have a view of the sea from every tee and green. It is not a proper links even though it's very links-like in appearance and feel. Unlike seaside courses that run through dunes, North Foreland is chalk-based and, as a result, it drains exceptionally well and is playable all year round.
The courses are the work of the renowned architect's Herbert Fowler and Tom Simpson, and was completed before World War 1 after they were asked to extend the original nine holes. Such is the quality of the layout, the R&A uses North Foreland as a qualifying course when the Open Championship is held just up the coast at Royal St George's Golf Club in Sandwich. Fowler's creations include Aberdovey, The Berkshire (Red and Blue Golf Courses), Walton Heath (New and Old Golf Courses) and even Los Angeles Country Club which is a regular amongst the World's Top 100 Golf Courses.
Renowned for its fast-running fairways and greens, along with coastal views that are amongst the best in England, the 6,412-yard, par-71 Main Course is a fantastic test for all golfers – with the open front nine holes being contrasted nicely with the tighter back nine and a mixture of strategically- placed bunkers and broad fairways.

The Northcliffe Course provides the opportunity for players to hone their short game on a number of par 3 holes and the club is also home to excellent practice facilities and tennis courts.

Great spot on the coast. Costal holes really bring the wind into play. Good greens and pace of play. Great set up and team.

Welcoming and friendly first class club, we enjoyed all the facilities and even though the course was struggling under a lack of rain, it proved a great test, thanks all, Steve, Owen, Patrick and Taffy

Great views, with good greens and fairways. The rough was a little long and therefore tricky to play. The bunkers didn’t seem well kept which was a shame. Was a windy day which add some interesting complexity.

A great location but the greens had been spiked and sanded so were slow. It was impossible to get hold of the pro shop by email or by phone. We did let them know

Lovely clubhouse and course in a great setting by the coast. Very friendly staff and members We all enjoyed NFGC and the fish and chips to finish the tour were top notch But again no buggy availability! Why don’t these clubs invest in more buggies? Extra income for very little effort! A no brainier to me.

From the start on arrival all the staff and members we spoke with were absolutely fantastic. We had the course steward describe the golf course hole by hole we found this to be extremely helpful. We will book this course again was a great experience.

Stunning views. Very testing, straight drives essential as you will lose many balls in the rough and it's very difficult to hack out. Good experience though.

The course was in great condition. Not too long, but testing if you move off the cut grass. Take a drop from the long stuff.

The rough was outrageous. If that stays the same and you get a stiff breeze this course is not enjoyable for a player with a handicap over 14 or so.

We had to cut short our round as the weather didn't cooperate. 45 minutes away from the hotel and a round in middle afternoon had us to come back earlier. Par-3 as practice round is very interesting and the bunkers there are no less easier.

What a gem this course is. Set on the chalk cliffs at Broadstairs part parkland part links a true test of you shot making ability. Being a mid handicapper I was not quite as good as I needed to be, however the views and course made it one of my best golfing expedites and I have played Royal St George’s.

I played my best round of the weekend on this course. As we turned up in the car park the views of the golf course and the sea is the first thing you see and it looks fantastic. You need to be straight off the tee, because the rough was pretty thick in areas. The clubhouse bar looks over the back 9 and is a great place to have a drink afterwards.
