The club has three loops, making up 27 holes, all of which were designed by Robert Trent Jones, and the predominant characteristic is the severity of the putting surfaces. From the tees the fairways are relatively generous, but the greens are small, and their considerable slopes make putting extremely tricky.
Having hosted the Madeira Open every year since 1993, Santa da Serra's stock is continuing to rise, and is an essential part of any good golfing holiday to Madeira.

Poor hire clubs, which despite having been reserved were not correct. Men’s and ladies drivers were the same length and they wouldn’t exchange.

The course was in great condition the greens were true and very receptive There were very few people on the course possibly due to there being three nine holes The views on the two nines we played were beautiful will certainly return

This course is slightly easier than the palheiro course a bit flatter buggy is required in my opinion as there is some distance between some greens and next tee very helpful and friendly staff.

Played 18 holes twice in different combinations of 3 courses each 9 holes. Enjoyed them all despite the weather affecting the fairways which are a bit barren in places. Greens are excellent. They encouraged us to stop half way (between the 2 different courses) for lunch, which was a nice touch given our 11:00 start. Lovely views. Very hilly so take a buggy.

Beautiful setting, pity we had bad weather for our first round and couldn't play as scheduled due to thick fog and rain. Club did allow us 9 holes on Saturday as part compensation. Definitely worth a re visit.

We played it twice. The first time we had a four ball in front of our two ball, who were playing as if they were in the Sunday final group at Augusta. Refused to let us through and seemed to revel in taking their time The second time was a breeze. Lovely course and challenging

High up in Madiera this course has 3 9 holes. We got to play all 3 nines. These courses are abit wider so more forgiving than Palheiro, it is a really lovely spot. Buggy recomended , we played on our as as a two ball. Club house , staff and restaurant all really good. Great value.Booked through YGT. Be warned though take your layers and waterproofs, even if it is sunny down in Funchal. There can be very different weather up here and cooler. We moved one of our days as it was cold and wet, the staff were very obliging. It was 19'C and sunny back down in Funchal.
