Perched on the banks of the River Liffey in the heart of Leixlip village, The Court Yard Hotel is a cracking base if you want Dublin on tap without staying right in the middle of it. You're around half an hour from the city centre by car (traffic depending), while The K Club, Carton House and Castleknock are all an easy run away, which means more time on the course and less time staring out of a minibus window. Always a win, in my opinion.
The hotel hits that handy middle ground between rural calm and city convenience. Head into Dublin for a big night, a decent meal or a bit of sightseeing, then retreat back to Leixlip for a quieter night's sleep by the river. On-site, Arthur's Bar is a local favourite for live music and a lively pint, while The River Bank Restaurant covers the Irish classics, from steaks and seafood to comfort-food staples that do the job nicely after 18 (or 36).
The location is the real draw for golfers. The K Club, host of the 2006 Ryder Cup, is a short drive away. Carton House, a former Irish Open venue, is even closer. Add Castleknock, Luttrellstown Castle and a host of other top-drawer Dublin courses to the mix and you've got a week's worth of quality golf without spending half your trip in the car. Well served by bus and train links, the hotel also makes a sensible base if you're planning to venture further afield into Kildare or north towards the links of the Irish Sea coast.
Who is this for?
Golfers or groups looking for a convenient, well-priced base within easy reach of Dublin's championship parkland courses and the capital's nightlife, pubs and restaurants.
Who is it best for?
Societies and small groups who want a mix of serious golf, lively evenings and the flexibility to explore both rural Ireland and the city without changing hotels mid-trip.

Rooms at The Court Yard Hotel are simple, comfortable and geared up for groups on a golf weekend. Standard Guestrooms and Luxury Suites both come with river views from private balconies, plus tea and coffee facilities and a clean, modern finish. If you're travelling with mates and need somewhere practical to reset between rounds, the Standard Guestrooms do exactly that, with enough space for your gear and a good night's sleep.
If you'd like more room to spread out, the Luxury Suites offer a more generous layout and extra living space, which is ideal for longer stays or smaller groups sharing. There's also an Executive Suite option with a large private balcony and an outdoor hot tub, a strong shout for a captain's trip, a birthday weekend or anyone looking to add a bit of treat-factor to the break.
Food and drink are sorted on-site. The River Bank Restaurant serves the hotel's 'Wake me at Dawn' breakfast menu and a reliable dinner line-up of steaks, burgers, fresh seafood and traditional Irish dishes. The lunchtime carvery is handy if you're fitting golf around travel plans, and the drinks offering includes a well-chosen wine list and a good range of craft beers.
Arthur's Bar is the social hub, known locally for live music and a lively atmosphere without it tipping into chaos. If your group likes a few pints and a bit of post-golf craic, you'll spend plenty of time here.

The hotel arrangement is quirky. It has a private car park with key pad controlled access and with a courtyard that acts as an evening venue for music. The bar and thus the bar food service was very busy. The building is reported to be the home of Arthur Guiness. The hotel furnishings probably need an upgrade but nevertheless acceptable. It wasn't possible to control the room temperature. For some reason we were given a family room with a smallish double and single. It wasn't possible to change it, although the receptionist did try but couldn't find a possible swap. The room was clean but the service was diabolical. We left the room at 9am in the morning and didn't return until 4pm and our room had not been cleaned. We complained to the reception and they promised to get someone to attend to the room. By 9pm it still had not been touched, although the reception was under the impression that it had been serviced. Breakfast on the second morning was exceedingly slow. They only had two waiters, one who arrived a little while after we sat down was attending to the orders for cooked breakfasts and the other clearing tables etc. It took well over an hour to get served with cooked food. The hotel was clearly understaffed in key areas.

The hotel was not what we expected, there was loads of bars and food places pretty much on site there was live music and dj’s on over the weekend, we didn’t have to leave the grounds! It was a brilliant weekend. Loved it
