Alamos Golf Course

Location is a little of the beaten track and the course looks a little tired and unloved in places. Greens were in good condition. A fair challenge (we played from the yellow tees) for mid-handicappers with some good par 3s and short, risk-reward par 4s. Don't think I would return given the many other better options in the area.

Before going out this was expected to be the least impressive of the 3 courses we played but we were all pleasantly surprised by it. Not a particularly long course but there were a number of interesting/quirky holes that kept our 4 ball interested all the way round. Greens were in good condition

This course is absolutely unbelievable, nice open fairways very forgiving, the greens are super fast, the clubhouse is really nice with a huge selection of clothing and golf accessories.

Good course, was a competition on before my tee time, with 4 balls infront so couldn’t play through.

Sadly weather conditions were awful with thundery showers and wild winds. Course was very wet with balls regularly getting embedded in fairways. We have played this course before though and it was in much better condition in dry weather. A bit of a trip to get to but we did enjoy our day despite the bad weather. Would play again on a sunny day

Weather conditions had been so bad prior to our arrival that the course was barely playable with all bunkers pretty much full of water so difficult to rate

The course was a very good test for all . Greens were in superb condition, a very good test for any golfer. Would play again. Stock up on golf balls.

Same as the other course, it’s looked after. Possibly comparing to what I have in the uk just now but both courses are worth a visit just for firm fairways.

The Alamos course was a good choice to start our golf trip. Not too difficult and quite forgiving. Course was busy so an early Tee time is recommended.

We ended up playing Morgado twice ( due to timing ) so didn’t play Alamos.

It rained on the day we were supposed to play and we had to stop at hole 7 due to the thunder and lightning

Enjoyed our round. 12 of us of mixed abilities so the ease of the course was about right. Greens had been dressed with sand so not so good but they have to do it some time. So lacking in water, dry water hazards.

Short course, not the nicest of course and overall a but boring.

The fairways were poor and had obviously suffered in the drought. The use of buggies was prohibited on the fairways of the first three holes and, as a consequence, it took and hour to play them. It also proved a bit of a strain for some of our party with mobility issues. The tees and greens were well maintained.

A shorter course compared to Morgado on the card. Dont let that fool you. Well laid out and the greens have more turns than a race track. We all loved it his track! We would would come back again!

Poor tee boxes not one flat lie, very undulating fairways, which was not an issue, the greens were virtually unplayable, all cups were on basically hills, very disappointing. I would not pay to play there again due to the setup of the greens.

Nice course but we struggled to get buggies and one of the group had bad knees so we had to do a bit of sweet talk to get them but others golfers were not happy because we came after they did

Good job we booked buggies, very hilly, would have been a difficult walk. Shortest of the courses played, dry in places, greens kept to a minimum.

We absolutely love this course although again the fairways were very dry due to the lack of rain, but the greens and the tea boxes were in good condition. Although the course is very tight in certain places and can be short if you are a long hitter but overall we loved it…

not a lot to write about to be honest, track was ok, greens were decent however rest of the course was scorched and hammered - pace of play was good, quite open in most parts, the main defence being the greens with their interesting undulations

Round took over 5 hours. Saw the cart guy twice the whole time which on very hot conditions with no halfway facilities, isn’t good enough

We thought this was the better of the two courses, shorter but very tricky. The greens were fabulous, however the pin positions were treacherous.

Overall everyone enjoyed the course. Main issue concerns buggy costs as quoted 40€ back in October 2022, but there was an increase to 45€ in January. I asked them to respect the original quote but they did not agree

Also in lovely condition other than some of the surrounding areas which were a bit scrappy and uncared for. Quite long walks between tees made us grateful for a buggy, but the speed of play meant we were constantly waiting to play, though not so much that it spoilt our enjoyment. If there had been any rain in Portugal this year we would have found the course a great deal harder, as we were able to play from the dried up lake beds and ditches on a number of occasions! Beautiful, links style fairways with loads of undulations and many tricky greens made this a real test.

Could do with more buggies for hire which would have helped speed up the round

Course was ok although very dry greens. Course was unaware that the buggies were included in the price and wanted payment. After a lengthy conversation and luckily enough I had my paperwork they conceded (apparently they had not been informed by YGT) this was embarassing to say the least again. Also the bar were not aware of the free drink after the round and neither was I that I had to get the vouchers from the hotel ...lack of communication all round I'm afraid

Fairways need watering good greens nice layout make sure your outside at right time as driver will go with out you when being picked up

A buggy is required for this course, good condition on fairways and greens. Would play again. Less busy.

We enjoyed the round. The greens ran well but borrows were difficult to pick up. They did what they did to protect the course.

More interesting course than morgado- IMO

We found this golf course to be scruffy and unkempt - although this is probably partly due to the lack of rain.

Decided not to play this course as again looked too busy, we had buggies this time and went back on the morgado course. The difference having a buggy made was immense. The course empty, round done in 3 hours. Overall - course lovely, but in that heat on a slow round buggies are essential. More water needed on the round.

Equally as good as Morgado. More ups and downs on this Course. greens are domed and sloping, you think your on, and just wait. Great condition, very challenging. Again bunkers a plenty, very well kept.

First time on Alamos played sister course Morgado twice before, we all walked however the two younger players wished they had taken a buggy, lovely layout it would perhaps be more difficult if the streams had water in them very dry.

The greens made Alamos a huge challenge! Quite short but interestingly laid out and any lack in length is made up for with the undulations and speed of the greens. Very enjoyable to play. Practice facilities were excellent.

Course is in the middle of nowhere, A bit of a forgotten resort. Not a very welcoming pro shop, but the caddy master helped us out tremendously as our buggies hadn’t been reserved (something I will take up with YGT separately). One of the party was unable to walk it, so he ‘found’ us two, despite everyone being told that there were none. If you don’t play golf, there is nothing else to do but sit around for 6 hours for the coach to return.

We had a great round here, largely due to out playing partners who were great fun and played at a steady pace. Again the greens seemed sparse.

Worst of the three, bit samey, wasn't really impressed average course.

More benign conditions today but still hard to score on UK handicaps. Enjoyed the views and the variety of the holes.

Not in same condition as earlier in year and later tee times suffer with slow play along with pitted greens

Our experience was marred by the fact our transfer was missed due to a driver giving the wrong information and leaving us stranded. The golf reception refused to help stating it was the responsibility of Palm village and left (closing the resort with us left outside). Luckily we managed to contact a taxi however this left us £50 out of pocket.

Out of the 3 courses we played, this by far was the worst, the fairways and greens were not in a good condition, but we were told there had been an infestation which could have been the issue. The toilets were not open on the course and the drinks / food buggy only came round twice, which on the first time didn't have anything left. Slightly disappointed we were recommended this course and not Salgardo which having picked up people from this course looked a lot better.

Sadly course in shabby condition with lots of damage near greens apparently made by wild boars. The design of the course was also lacking with a large distance between green to next tee. Not a course to walk definitely need buggies.

Much tighter than Morgado, but just as enjoyable. You really need biggies around Alamos as there are long walks between some greens and the next tee and these walks are mainly uphill.

Got off on time, pace of play was good, course was varied and challenging, greens were fast and slightly difficult to read, however was paired up with another 2 ball and 1 was a member who knew the course which helped.

It was very windy, which made for some fun on the greens, which were already slick and fast, but a lovey technical course in beautiful condition

This course is run from the same clubhouse as the Morgado so all the above points are relevant to this course as well. We booked buggies for this when we visited the Morgado and were glad we did. Fairways we in a better condition than the Morgado but the greens about the same.

nice enough, but nothing special...there a great big reservoir in the middle and not a single hole over the water! nice greens but not as fast as others.

Good challenging course, my preferred choice out of the two on the resort, the other being the Morgado. Lots of elevated undulating greens, protected by numerous bunkers. Overall enjoyable experience.

Another unseasonably hot day although we were fortunate enough to secure a buggy. But on both days that we were at Morgado/Los Alamos there were a number of people that believed they had pre booked a buggy but were told there were none available. Course itself has plenty of variety and very interesting to play.

We played at Vale Do Lobo the day before and there is a huge contrast between the two courses. The fairways were very dry in places and lots of sand on the greens. The pace of play was slow - at one stage we were held up by 5 groups on one hole (the 6th). The drinks cart didn't come out until the 12th hole which wasn't great. Staff friendly and the outside terrace was okay post-match drinks. Not sure I'd play here again.

Not the best course in the world but by no means the worst! It was a tough test for the average golfer but not in the best condition as they struggle to get water on it but overall not too bad

Really slow round but what a great course. took over 5hrs to get round with nearly two groups queing on each tee box. The course was lovely and greens were really well kept.

Greens had disease making them bare and some difficult to putt on.

Very poor condition. Greens a disgrace to be honest and very dry fairways. They basically told us this before we went out and gave us a free drink. Whoopee. Not impressed at all. Wouldnt recomend.

Tee time 30 mins later than booked, compensated with a drinks voucher for each golfer but not for cider, which was what the majority of the party were drinking. So a bit disappointed when they wouldn’t allow us to pay the extra for having a cider!!!☹️☹️☹️

I found the course a good challenge ,especially the back nine .

A good course to play - condition of course overall was average at best although greens in decent conditions. A lot of easy and short par 4's.

Thoroughly enjoyed this course, different experience completely from morgado and for me it was better. lots of thinking to get a good score but you certainly needed a buggy as it was hilly. Difficult greens but only added to the enjoyment.

Both times we played the course it was relatively quiet so the speed of play was dictated by us and certainly no hold ups. We would all be more than happy to make a return visit.

extra points for your travel local pro who came to greet us and fixed us to start ahead of a bigger group. After passing another slow group we cloud play an empty course in our own speed. Very nice greens, large and shaped.

Course was great, greens were immaculate, very fast. Took us around 5.5hours to get round which was pretty slow, but you can't expect much more when the course is full. Couldn't complain about any of it.

Alamos is a fantastic golf course. It is in generally good condition with very good greens. The course layout is great and tests both the low and high handicaps in the group. I'd recommend a cart as it's a long walk! Our favourite of the week (vs Morgado and Salgados)

Very technical course .course was overbooked as took over 4 hours to play waiting for long periods .also bus didn’t turn up to take us to the course

First few holes were too difficult. Blind shots to sloping fairways. Greens in good condition but very difficult. Preferred the holes on the flat. Staff very friendly and helpful. No problem booking a second round

This was actually our favorite course over the Salgados and Morgado courses. A good layout with good but tricky greens. You can walk this course but it is designed for buggies.

On arrival we were told that there was no buggies as the were all booked but we were told by yourselves that we could not book the buggies not having buggies on a course that hilly is a major problem staff not interested in any problem

Tricky and fast greens. Firm so difficult to hold on from long shots.

Had a great time. My friend and I have only been playing for 2 years so we are not the fastest players. We did not hold anyone up. The water hazards were like magnets for us! We would play here again.

Greens were magnificent Quite a walk from one or two of the greens to tee but managed okay Monday was our first round Saturday our last so we got buggies for the Saturday Fairways in good condition / Teeing areas are a bit sandy but both courses the greens were some of the best we have ever played

4 of us played ,2 x13 handicappers,a21 and a 28 .This course is not very long and a very good course for a mix of different handicappers.Open fairways ,good greens and not a lot of trouble.

Part of the Morgado complex . So same complaint re: Buggies ‼️ The course is a bit trickier than it looks on the Card . Plenty of water ( Red stakes ) to avoid . Can’t just go around taking Driver off the Tee , it’s more a thinking Mans golf course . Good Greens and putted well . Some of the Fairways need a bit of attention but all in all a good test of Golf .

My step son had nine birdies and then finished par we all found it easer than the morgardo not so much walking

Due to the lack of buggies indicated on our visit to Morgado(same clubhouse) on the previous day((refer Morgado review) some of my group decided to stay in our hotel and forego this round altogether due to prevailing heat. Despite previous days advice that no buggies would be available,after further complaint, two were reluctantly provided on registration. Altogether a forgettable experience.

Very nice course with views, the fairways run side to side which made the ball run interesting. A few blind corner shots, certainly was an advantage for a big hitter. Great condition and enjoyable.

Superb little course, Buggies a must, quite a bit of distance between some of the holes. Think this was most of our groups favourite.

Very nice course with a lovely lake feature at the start , lots of variety in the distances of the holes and laid out so that you had to think about course management rather than big hitting.

Our favourite course and in great condition. We were fortunate that the course was not very busy on the two occasions we played and this allowed for a nice quick game.
