Marriott Residences Salgados Resort is a handy Western Algarve base if you want sunshine, beach time and plenty of golf within easy reach. You're close to Albufeira for evenings out, while the resort itself feels relaxed and spacious, with landscaped gardens and a short walk to Salgados Beach.

From a golfer's point of view, the big selling point is location. There are loads of well-known Algarve courses within roughly half an hour's drive, so you can mix up your week rather than playing the same track on repeat. If you fancy keeping it simple, you've also got the excellent Salgados Golf Course right next door, plus practice areas for a warm-up before your tee time.

Off the course, you've got 10 outdoor pools dotted around the complex, two restaurants and two bars for an easy post-round drink. Families are well covered too, thanks to the Kids Club and seasonal entertainment. On rest days, there's plenty nearby, from boat trips and water sports to long beach walks when you want something a bit quieter.

If you're weighing up where to stay in the region, this one works particularly well for groups who want quality golf and a comfortable resort base, with the option of heading into town when the après-golf mood strikes. It's the kind of place that ticks the key boxes for a Portugal golf week without feeling like you're stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Who is this for?
Golfers, couples and families who want a beachside resort in the Western Algarve with easy access to multiple courses.

Who is it best for?
Groups who want to play Salgados and rotate in nearby Algarve favourites, while keeping non-golfers happy with pools, beach and bars.

Accommodation at Marriott Residences Salgados Resort

The resort has 172 contemporary suites from one to three bedrooms, which is ideal if you're travelling as a couple, a fourball sharing, or a family that wants separate sleeping space. Suites are air conditioned and come with LCD TVs and complimentary WiFi, plus generous living areas and proper-sized balconies for a coffee before breakfast or a post-round wind-down.

If you like a bit of independence, the larger suites include kitchenette facilities, handy for sorting breakfast or snacks. That said, most guests will make use of the on-site dining. There are two restaurants serving Mediterranean favourites alongside international options, so you can keep it simple with grilled fish or pasta, or go a bit heartier after 18 holes. Menus lean heavily towards Mediterranean flavours and crowd-pleasing classics, with enough variety to keep things interesting over a longer stay. Two bars cover the usual bases for golfers, from an easy pre-dinner drink to a relaxed nightcap without needing to head out.

Facilities are a big tick here. The standout is the choice of outdoor pools, spread around the gardens, which helps the resort feel less crowded even in busier periods. You'll find a mix of livelier pool areas and calmer corners, depending on the time of day, so there's usually a spot that suits your mood. The beach is an easy walk away too, so you can split your downtime between pool and sea without committing to taxis or long transfers. The water's clean and swimmable through the warmer months, making it a proper option rather than just a token amenity.

For anyone travelling with children, the Kids Club and seasonal entertainment take the pressure off planning every hour of the day. There's live music and themed evenings scheduled throughout the week, which gives everyone something to do beyond golf and pool time. And if you do want a livelier evening, Albufeira is close enough for dinner and drinks, but you're not right in the middle of the noise when you're ready to call it a night.

Top hotel and destination, close to old town and golf courses

Excellent

Accommadation, staff and facilities at the resort were superb. I cannot praise them enough, 5 Star. FYI, I booked the entire break over the phone, as there was a special "All Inclusive" deal at the time of booking. None of us drink alchohol and were at the golf courses between 0900 and 1500. However, I arrived at the resort, Marriot Residences, Salgados, Portugal, as per the booking. I have the confirmation, in the "YourGolfTravel" app, stating that it is an "All Inclusive" package. After a lengthy discusion with reception, they disputed this and suggested that it was a "Semi Inclusive" package and it was incorrectly advertised by YourGolfTravel. I phoned YourGolfTravel contact number at 13.50 on 25/05/26. I spoke to a very helpful man called Ryan. He was very pleasant, helpful and understanding and was going to look into this matter, phoning the resort reception and was getting back to me via a phone call, with any solutions to this problem. I waited his phone response. I had no phone response, so I wrang back. I am informed that it is, an "All Inclusive Package" based on a, "Semi Inclusive Package" No...., I really did not make that up, an "All Inclusive Package" based on a, "Semi Inclusive Package" Whatever spurious reason YourGolfTravel come back with, IMO, its extremely misleading. If I was originally told that it was, "Semi Inclusive", I would have no complaint. Can I suggest that this type of advertising is attended to quickly, as nobody else should have to be put under the same circumstances. Just a reminder, as previously stated, I have the YGT confirmation that states "All Inclusive" Regards 1 furiously unhappy customer, based on 2 customers opinions.

Rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable with very good facilities and balcony you space. All inclusive drinks were very good, the buffet food was about average for that style of all inclusive buffet

Excellent rooms, all inclusive rate was ok but buffet food was barely warm and lack of main course choice

I have not got a bad thing to say about this place, it was absolutely super for any golfing trip, the all inclusive is perfect for the evening time for when you come back from golfing just to chill have have some food and a few drinks. The resort has a onsite 24hr gym and also has 9 outdoor swimming pools. The hotel is about 20 minutes from albafira in an uber witch cost about €8 each way. We will definitely be booking

Disappointed in a lot of this hotel, one bar, one average restaurant. The actual hotel was stunning, and the room was brilliant, however even little things, the cleaners trying to clean at 4pm every day even asked to be earlier the next day and they came back the same time. The ‘all inclusive programme’ is also bullshit. Selective drinks, one at a time, just embarassing from what I was sold.

Rooms are dated and poorly lit. Food was in awful. Breakfast stone cold as I had seen on trip advisor reviews months ago but the hotel have clearly done nothing to improve this. Pool areas not great.

Poor

The hotel reception people were so unfriendly and not helpful. On two occasions they caused us to be late for our tee off times due to them not organising the shuttle correctly to the golf course. They made us pay for taxis. It was not acceptable.
